INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Jacfin- I think it is important to not take on too much as we return to work. The conference opportunity sounds wonderful, but wonder given some of the struggles you are sharing if it would be better to consider another time? I find things like that often come up in the future.
If you decide to do it, be sure you know all the expectations right up front to prepare, be there, receptions, etc. I know speaking at conferences requires a lot of energy. Been there.

welcome cubbie, sorry you've had to join our merry gang of misfits! We talk about EVERYTHING! You should have been here a couple months back when a posted a pic of the new prosthetic nipples I got. Funny, I sent them back. They did look very realistic. So, if your willing to share, are you doing reconstruction or decided on flat?
Well, I finished sewing this up this morning. This is the quilt I started in a class in Detroit last month. Had to get it done before I forgot how to assemble it. The dang thing is 60" across. Don't know what I'm going to do with it when it's done. I probably won't get back to it until after Xmas.
Lover, you're pulling our leg on the pup! You said it was a skinny little thing.
Anybody hear from Patty? Sassy??
-
I pm'd pattyp, got nothing back. Hope she is not in hospital again.. Hugs and prayers her way, and all who are hurting
-
Smarty! You should post your art-work, sewing ideas on this thread.... Calling All Artists!
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/135/topic...
I just had one of my lower teeth pulled.... Going back Monday for him to take an impression and make a partial for my lower plate.... It didn't hurt, but it WAS hurting, because it had broken off....! It just made me shake..( I mean the deadening stuff...).... I wanted him to put some of that Novocaine in my knee.... He just laughed.....
I'm so happy that I'll have a full set on the bottom now! And I can chew on both sides! It's like a present to ME!
Been raining here for 2 days! We really needed it.... And supposed to be down in the 30's tonight! Spookie would have to put her socks on...Ha!
-
Well, that's a fine welcome back I get from you guys - all that Go Cubs talk. I'm a broken hearted Rangers girl. But, I quickly got over it in NYC which is where I have been. Stayed at the Quin on 5th Avenue. I love NYC as long as I get to come home Bought my first 100% cashmere shawl and some beautiful gloves. Weather was cold on one day and we got out before the cold hits here and there. We flew first class and I loved laughing all the way. Does a soul good to throw a little caution out the window once in a while!
Now Cubbie, you couldn't have picked a better place to land than here. There are true people in this place. I know because I lurked for almost two years, just posting every now and then. Just recently have busted loose cause I went back to writing so I'm always scribbling something everywhere. You can ask anything at anytime. Just know one thing - Essex is not a place, it's a thing. Chevy likes to talk about it!
Mags, the older I got the less I could sleep. I learned to use it by writing again. Just grab a pencil and paper and put random thoughts down. Might help if the pills don't. But then, I take the pills!
Peace and blessings to all....
-
Smaarty, you are smart although I can't look at your quilt artwork - makes my eyes feel like they got Chevy's novacaine. Sorry your knees are hurting Chevy...
-
Mema-Nema...I STILL don't know what ESSEX is! And all these tramps around here want me to think it is something to do about sex! Ha!
My knee feels better... probably because it is finished raining? I think it is Bursitis... It hurts at NIGHT .... like when I want to turn over.... and when I try and move that log of a leg, my knee has fits! Tonight I will wear a wrap...
It's supposed to be 39 degrees tonight! Floridians don't have a clue..... right?
-
Well Mema I did wonder what looking at Smarrty's quilt would be like stoned. .....I think Essex is more of an action than a thing? But I suppose if you are using the word as a noun, verb, or adjective makes a difference.
She has teeth! I'll be hornswoggled! Getting upitty Tain't you now?
Try this Chevy after you get fixed. I did it last week and it was great. Corn on the cob in a pot on the stove for a 2-3 hours on low. Add salt, milk, and sugar to the water.
Mema what a great trip. Going first class everything what a treat. YAY
Smarrty, I'll check my PM's to see when she last sent something. I sent her brownies and I'm pretty sure I heard from her.
-
I had a pm from patty on Oct2nd. She was in the hospital.
-
Chevy, I put other quilts on the Arts thread.
Sassy and Susan, patty posted around October 11, saying she was getting sprung. Not posted since. Hope shesdoing ok.
Mema, know what you mean, it's called Optical Illusion for a reason.
-
Thinking of Patty, Blondie and Rose tonight. I am sorry to hear Patty was back in the hospital. She has had a rough couple months. Blondie has a cold and talked to her some this week. She is struggling through that. Hoping Rose is doing okay. Heck, I hope all of you are doing okay today.
Mema- speaking of writing, you might like this! If you are on FB, there is a group called the Writer's Circle and this showed up this week. I have not started it yet, but think I will find more than 5 things wrong with social media to start!
-
Just found this looking for something else, I didn't have it in my favs. It's a thread for Patty

Smaarty, that quilt makes my eyes go funny! Very cool, though. You guys are all so crafty!
I am not planning on reconstruction. I'm just not up for more surgery, and it's just not that important to me. I want to concentrate on getting better, for now. One of my co-workers is going through reconstruction, however, and we had a hilarious discussion you would probably appreciate. She is in the stage where she has tissue expanders and is going into the plastic surgeon periodically for additional fills. We were talking about how cool it would be if you could have adjustable boobs - they'd be like those Nike sneakers that were popular years ago with the little air pump inside them. Going to the beach? Just pump up the boobs a little more before you put on that bikini! We laughed so hard!
Loverly, are you pulling my leg about that dog photo? I kind of wondered. :-)
Mema, the one thing I am now afraid to ask about is Essex. Not sure I want to know!
Chevy, glad your knee is better.

I saved the writing challenges; thank you Sassy for the link to Patty's note. I didn't say anything on that thread but wish there was more I could do for her.
-
Patty posted on the patty thread
Mema:)

hello my awesome friends ! I haven't logged on in awhile. I've just felt so miserable. Having a hard time with memory and confusion and with the dizzness its hard to read or type. Mo took me off tx for 2 weeks to see if this could be the problem. I am very happy to say i am doing some better.
Not even trying to play catch up bt will just jump back in now. Can't wait to see what's up with everyone and who is out living it up. Love those stories. I've missed you guys.

I hope Patty's doctors can make her more comfortable. I'm with Mema, I wish there was more we could do for her. Hopefully it helps her to know we are thinking of her.
Edit - and there she is! Good to see you Patty!
-
Hi Patty! Gosh we've missed you! Chevy is gonna freak she didn't stay up to see you log in tonight! Get better and enjoy that break!
-
You're in my thoughts and prayers Patty. Take it easy. Just know we love you.

Welcome Back Patty! Stay well for a long time. How are the boys? How is the Ibrance going?
Love the welcome Peanuts dance.
-
This silence is deafening!!! Where is everyone this morning?
Husband said I should come forward with um....my "mischief". Cubbie, I thought your comment on the fur was so politely innocent, if that makes any sense. And Rose, I didn't think you would fall for that...sorry. That dog looks so nervous and frazzled. That washow Mitzi was when we first got her.
-
Yeah, so 'fess up!!!!!
-
Yeah... I checked in earlier and thought... spookie where is everyone? Did someone call a fire drill? WAKE UP!!!
-
Hootie hoo Patty!
