pt - Where is that bird from? I've never seen one anywhere in the Pacific Northwest.
-
Chabba, I'm not sure where it is from. I took it from an e-mail that showed beautiful birds from all over. It is incredible that there is such variety in the avian world. So many incredible birds with such remarkable plumage.
-
I don't remember if I've ever seen you on the topic called "Life's a Beach" where mumito posts pictures she and her DH take on their travels. He takes the most wonderful bird pictures. He can get a picture of a humming bird in flight where you can see every feather and even the seperate parts of the wing feathers. I could spend hours just enjoying his collections of bird photos. Make that days! And the same looking at her seanic and underwater photos too.
-
Chabba, mumito's DH has a website with scads of his bird pix..if you google tinyfishy you can find it, He id the best,..
PT that bird is beautiful -
Chrissy, I love your description of your style as being "follower of comfort!"
-
Lia - Thanks for telling me about tinyfishy's website. I just spent an hour there and have added it to my favorites so I can return again and again!

Just wanted to check in and say I'm still around. We're waiting for DGS #2 to arrive and there've been a couple of false alarms. The dr told DIL 2 weeks ago that it would be in 2 weeks and now he says maybe one more week, but who knows about these things. DGS #2 will come when he's good and ready, although DS says Tuesday would be the best day for him! I told DS his role in this is over until the baby gets here.
Then tonight, DD and SIL told us they're pregnant too! She hasn't been to the doctor yet, mind you, but is basing this on the 8 home pregnancy tests they did. SIL says they won't be able to buy Christmas presents this year because all their money was spent on pregnancy tests!
The good news lifted my spirits today, and after yesterday's horror, it was very good news indeed.
Let's all remember 3jays, too. She's had a rough time with the skin cancer surgery on her leg and the moving date is supposed to be tomorrow, so any prayers or good thoughts for her....send 'em on.

hi everyone, I just want to let you all know that I am feeling so much better. I am slowly weaning off all the steroids. I have been seeing my PCP every 2 weeks. I am just so excited that I had to share.
I am a have to know everything person, too. This site helps me not to feel alone, even tho it is just me and the dog most of the time.
By the way, the dog pulled me over in the parking lot of the dog park this week. Thankfully I was not hurt badly. I had decided she was behaving better so I left her choke collar at home. She saw another dog while I was opening the back of the car and yanked me backwards. The man with the other dog came over and helped me up. LOL
Good news indeed, Kathy!
I can't even turn the tv on, I get too sad. So young! There is no sense to make of it.
gonna email 3jays now.

Kathy, I got a chuckle about the home pregnancy tests...I was in a 99 cent store yesterday and at check out counter they had the pregnancy tests..now would you trust one you bought in the 99 cent store???
-
No way, Lisa! I'd trust them for gift bags, but not for pregnancy tests!
Mac, so sorry about your fall. Hope you're not too banged up and sore. Bud The Dog has pulled me down once or twice and it's not something I remember fondly. But that's wonderful news about you weaning off the steroids and starting to feel better--you go, girl!
I too hate to see the news right now. DH and I teach a Sunday School class of 2nd and 3rd graders, and I've been thinking of what to say if they have questions tomorrow. There really are no words.
Kathy
-
Kathy, the kids WILL have questions (if they even come in!) and the best way to answer is to answer ONLY the question they ask. Don't elaborate and fill in blanks as they may be thinking about it totally different than we are! I was given that great advice years ago, about only answering what they are actually asking. It may as simple as "how old were the kids"? "They were the same age as you." That's it. Don't say anything more. They can only process what their tiny brains need to know. In fact, I'd separate any child that is going on and on about it if that happened, but surely the parents would shield the children from this news...wouldn't they? I didn't tell my kids about stuff like that when they were that young. They didn't need to know. Now I'm curious to know how it went....huh.

Hi girls. So sad to hear of the shooting in Connecticut ......... All those babies! I am saddened to think that a person is not in their right mind and no one notices until its too late. Surely to goodness I would have thought that maybe his mom saw something that was untoward leading in to this event? Just so so sad.
On a brighter note, yesterday I got to hang out with my two girls. They gave us all a treat for my birthday and we went to see Jersey Boys. Oh what a fabulous show! I love the music of The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli and funnily enough so do my DD's.. We had a really fun day together and that is the main thing.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy -
Chrissy, that show does sound like fun.
I spent the afternoon at a good friend's house baking Christmas cookies. I don't usually bake. So I learned alot and had fun. We got to eat some, too. My bc support group is having a cookie swap this week. I probably would have bought some, this way I'll look like suzy homemaker. LOL
Enjoying having more time to experience the holidays this year. There are perks to not working.

I just want to let you all know that I am feeling so much better. I am slowly weaning off all the steroids...
MacaI just happened across this post. I am so happy for you - what a long haul you had!
Take Care ... I hope the son wiill be around for the holidays . -
thanks purple! I am so happy, too. I got my Christmas present early! yes, my boy will be home on Sat.
-
Thank God you two are turning around!!!
-
Chrissy - so glad you got to spend some time with your girls. I know how special that time can be. I am envious, wishing I could spend time with my two girls. Glad you enjoyed Jersey Boys, I love the music but the profanity was hard to deal with as much of it was unnecessary and not the way people, even celebrities, talked back then.
Mac - happy to hear your son will be home for the holidays and that you are getting off the steroids, finally.
Kathy - let us know when DGS #2 arrives! Have they decided on a name yet? Oh, and send pics when you can. Aren't grandchildren the greatest joy?!?
Joy and blessings, AJ -
Oh man am I bushed!!!!!!! Christmas is not yet here and I'm wishing it was all done! Never mind, only a few more sleeps.........hahahaha! Had a bit of a bingle in my car on Saturday night as I was heading to my DD's house so tomorrow I have an appointment to take it to get a quote for repairs.........just what I didn't need right at this time. Oh we'll ill take advantage of being in Clare and get the ingredients to make my Christmas Plum Pudding icecream........and some of the other bits and pieces at the shops.
I'm hoping the weather cools a little also as I still have some cooking to do and having the oven going is going to make my kitchen feel like ............well you know what!
Mac so glad you are finally on the up side of down.......it's taken a while but it's onward and upward from here.........have a ball with your son over the holidays.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy -

Well, today I went to DDs psychic afternoon, and I am confused. I walked in as a total non believer, and came out...........?? It was an interesting afternoon, if nothing else!
We were all assembled when 2 psychics arrived....one of them came and sat among us, and immediately said 'Is there a Bott here ?' I nearly fell off my flippin' chair...that's what my family have called me for donkeys years...I am known as Auntie Bott to my nieces and nephews !!.No-one but very close family ever use this name ! That grabbed my attention, I can tell you!
We were divide up into 2 groups, and had a reading with each psychic. The one who had picked up on my nickname went first. She spent 20 minutes with me, in everyone elses hearing, bringing up name after name that meant something to me. I had NEVER met this woman before, yet she picked up straight away on my ex father- in- law, and correctly named him....Harold. She said he had caused great grief in the family, and was not a nice person....so true.
She went on to say my father was in the room, and was sorry for the way he had treated me ( which wasn't very nice) when I was growing up...she didn't name him tho'
We then got on to did I know a Peter...yes...did I know a Sheila...yes...did I know a Ken....yes, and who was Phil or Philip ??... my brother. She correctly named my ex mother-in- law, Elsie, plus the name she preferred to be known by, Ann. Then she said 'I have your Aunt here, she is the mirror image of you, and is always with you' and correctly named her. We were very alike to look at, so that bit was spookily right as well!
Then she said 'you do like your dogs don't you ? I have some of them here'...and proceeded to name 5 or 6 that I had lost. 'Who is Max? ' she asked . He is always by your side, he is here now...you think about him a lot' Max was my lovely Rottweiler, he died 2 years ago. I had him buried at the bottom of my garden, and often look out to where he is ! Then she asked 'do you know a Gordon ?' Well, yes I do, he's one of my boarding kennel customers, has been for years and years. She says his dogs ( I have looked after 3 of them over the years) all absolutely love you, and they love the treats you bring them !!....this was actually odd to me, as I have cursed all 3 of these dogs, one after the other, for being constant barkers, and pretty uncontrolable...tho'...I DO always take them little treats, in my pocket, as I go talk to them when they're staying with me !
Next , we were on to 'You do like to sew, don't you, you should sell some of the things you make ' Slightly out here, I like to do alterations, make curtains and soft furnishings, but nothing that would be saleable really....just sew for the family.
Lastly she was onto my sons name, correctly, or not....He was called Paul when he was born. I always hated the name. I was expecting a girl to pop out, who would have been Victoria, so was thrown when I produced a boy! It took 10 days of arguments, not being able to find a name for him, so I let DH name him in the end. Within about two months I had changed it to James, but it was too late to alter his birth certificate...so he became known as Jimmy !!! She correctly homed in on Paul, James AND Jimmy !! Oh, then she started rubbing her back, and said 'You have a problem here....3 things in fact' Ok, so I have THREE slipped discs ...HOW did she know????
The second psychic wasn't half as good. It was a Tarot card reading, and she proceeded to tell me I was 'strong' and always liked to be in control. She picked up a few names, which meant nothing to me, and kept insisting I DID know a Basil, which I don't ! then she went on to tell me I would be 'taking in SOME cats', probably a litter that no-one else wants...and do I live next to a field. Well, yes I do, I live in the middle of fields ! Then she said someone I know will be going in to hospital for a week or two, and won't be eating, they will be pretending to eat, and stashing the food under the bedclothes !!
If this second psychic had been the only one there I would have been asking for my money back, she was pretty hopeless.....she gave me a 'magic' stone, a citrine, to keep with me at all times , and I won't get ill !!!!! Bit late there, lady !!!
All in all it was a very interesting afternoon, everyone there was quite amazed at some of the correct things that were being told to them, but thought the second psychic was pretty hopeless !
Tomorrow will be Marybe's birthday. Happy birthday, Marybe wherever you are.
Isabella.

Happy cancerversary Lisa....and BIG congratulations, Leah.
Isabella.
-
Happy cancerversary Lisa!!!! 12years what a milestone!!! Hoping you have many more.
Congrats Leah!!!!! Another baby to love and cuddle......what could be better?!!!! What a wonderful Christmas gift!
Isabella I have seen a few psychics in my day and as you say, some are way better than others. Yes it is startling when they come up with stuff that in o way could they ever know........spooky!
I had my nine year cancerversary three days after my birthday but was so busy I forgot about it until a week later..........lol........does that mean I really don't care anymore because each day is a celebration of life for me anyway?! Oh well, the world is running and life is doing on so in my world, everything is right.
Hoping all your girls have a wonderful holiday season and a safe new year.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
