Kathy, I can't remember how old DGS is, but you could get the kid a zip line. (a small one, of course). I would love to be a squirrel too. (except for the part of getting squashed in the street.) How's the dog, happy too have you guys back to himself? or giving you the cold shoulder?
My dog gets so nervous every time I pull out my bag for a day trip to the city. She has now figured it out what happens after that gets packed. I have a pet sitter that comes and takes her to the dog park and comes back and feeds her dinner. So it is not a hard day for her, but she just looks at me with "those" eyes. She'll be real happy to see my DS today, too.
purple, I guess it is good news that we can't find a glaring problem for my breathing issues. But it is very frustrating. This new doc seems more committed to finding a solution. And with the new insurance they seem to be more willing to preform tests. So onward I go. It just seems that one med leads to another med leads to another med...........

Hi girls! Sorry I have been absent but you know how it is.........lol.
Oh Isabelle new puppies? Oh how I wish I could share your puppy sitting! I just love all new life but there is just something special about puppies and their sweet puppy breath. I can just see us now, you on one side and me on the other both of us with knitting in hand having a right ol conversation ........lol.
Nancy I hear you on 'that look'. My little dog gives it to me every time I pick up my handbag! ........lol...... they are pretty good at making you feel guilty even when there is no need. Loving your new doc as he sounds like he's doing good things for you. Hope you enjoy the visit from your son!
I have finally decided to tackle a very fine knitting project, knitting lace. I'm doing okay but every now and then I have to unknit a row or two because I've done something wrong.........it's a stitch by stitch thing and boy do I have to concentrate! Hopefully as I get more proficient it won't be such a challenge.......lol. I'm doing well and have decided I want to loose a few more kilos so am slowly getting back to my good eating habits....... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weight will start sliding off me soon.......lol.
Hoping everyone else is doing well and having a great day.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Chrissy - I'ld love to see a picture of your lace. How do you plan to use it?
The only lace I've ever made was tatted. My Mom made the finest crochet lace 've ever seen. She did edgings on the finest linen handkerchiefs made using the tiniest hooks ever (you needed 20 20 vision to even see the hook) with super fine linen thread. She made them for all of her sisters-in-law and most of her friends but never got around to making one for me before her vision failed enough that she had to give up making them. I so wished I had one to carry on my wedding day.

Chabba the pattern is actually for a triangular shawl. If it turns out like it should, I will gift it to my DD and then do another for my other DD. something they can remember me by each time they wear them.
Once finished it has to be blocked to pull it into shape but I'll be happy to share the progress with you. -
Chrissy, I saw your shawl on FB and it is AMAZING!!! How big is it at that point?
Mac, here's hoping they find a stinky luger of infection that has been bugging you all this time!! Get it out and be DONE!!!!
-
Barbe it measures about 5 x 8 inches........ not very big at all. I'm using 2 ply natural silk and have a very long way to go before it is anywhere near completion.
-
It will be a heritage piece when it is done Chrissy!!! What a great piece for your daughters.
-
Barbe to give you an idea of size, I rested it on my knee when I took the photo.
-
But it is very frustrating. "
Oh, how well I can imagine, Nancy !
For now ...just enjoy the DS visit I guess :>) -
Morning all - it is Saturday here and tonight we go on to daylight savings.
We had an interesting morning yesterday. DS has Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which causes him really erractic heart rhythm, DGS has a heart murmur and of course DH has serious heart problems and so one of the family research teams asked if they could see us as a family. DS couldn't attend but they had all his notes. He had just started his new job on Monday and so didn't feel he could take a whole morning off on Friday. So we all had ecgs and echo cardiograms which was fascinating. DDs were fine, DH we know about but it looks as if I have some mild damage probably from chemo!! How about that? Heart muscles are quit stiff and don't work as well as they should. Not sure what will happen so will wait and see, doc was waiting on full report. Certainly will discuss it with GP as it just might explain a few things.
Must get moving though it is nice having been brought a cup of tea and now sitting in bed with my laptop. DH has a conference call!!!
We are taking our family out to a very nice restaurant tonight first time we have all been together for quite awhile. Think we are helping move some things for DS this afternoon.
Big hugs

I know you will have a great dinner,,have fun
Chrissy you are amazing -
i saw it on Fb also, Chrissy.. it will be worth the PIA for the girls.. remember that, as you have to "undo" some rows.. i have some lovely lace pieces my nana did for me.. in them, i found a peice I had embroidered as a kid, and it was lovely.. funny, i have no memory of doing it, nor can remember how, i've tried.. can't blame THAT on chemo, or even menapause.. i found it when we moved here, before tx.. well, maybe menapuse, which turned into chemo pause... Good to see you posting again.
Allyson, enjoy dinner, i'll be asking my cardio for those tests next time he runs the stress test, and eco.. never knew that heart muscle can become "tough, although nothing surprises me about chemo!!!
Keep saying your prayers, ladies, we're talking to someone about a villa here.. im not gonna say, fraid to "jinx" it, but you'll be the 1st ones to know if its' Gods answers for me, or not...
Having jay #3 stay with us for a few weeks. he's working, but in between his work, and my naps, the plan is to get stuff sorted, and packed, or off to Goodwill. we'll see how THAT works out. i also plan on the 6 small meals i'm suppossed to have a day.. i can eat whikle he's here, so maybe i can get the diabetes more under control.. hope i'm not hoping for too much...3jays

Chabba I was on my iPhone and couldn't post the pic but back on the computer so here you are. Hope it does post too big.....lol.
The proportions a a bit off but you can get the idea.
-
I love it, so delicate.
-
Aly sure hope the damage picked up on your heart is not going to cause you too many problems. Good to hear that your DD has got her clearance so she'll be off to Canada. I know you will miss the little ones but its a good excuse to do more traveling. Speaking of which...... It's getting closer and I'm getting more excited, can't wait for you to be here!
Yay 3jays! Keeping my fingers crossed that you will be able to stay in the complex just not in that unit. Say hi to Jay#3 for me and tell him I still remember the hug. ( I hope I've got the right Jay) lol. Hoping all your sorting gets done without too much trouble.
The weather has turned cold again, typical for spring, so I'm just sitting working on that lace.......... I would much prefer to be tucked up in my warm bed but I need to do something constructive....... Lol
Have a great day all!!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
RE: LE
I dont man to change the subject ( is there one , really ? :>) but do any of the ladies on this thread have LE?
It's being added to my list ...ugh -
Purple there are a few of us, me included. You are right, UGH!!!!!
-
Chrissy...love the delicate pattern. That is WAY beyond me.
I'm a sort of knot one, pearl one, drop two sort of knitter. If it isn't simple I won't do it.
I'm just starting out on a big cardi. Very chunky wool, Sirdar Indie. Most unusual colourways....but flamin' expensive. Its costing me £78 for the wool (approx $126) I am seeing results, half the back done in one sitting. so will stick at it ! Have to do when I spend that much on the wool !!

Isabelle I hear you on the expense of good wool....... I used to only buy expensive wool when knitting for my DH but after seeing just what he does to them ( including pulling threads) I don't bother any more I just buy the acrylic. This winter I knitted four pullovers for him. That should keep him going while I spend the time knitting that shawl.
DD has already said she would like to wear it at her wedding so I guess I'd best finish it.......lol -
This site is S...........L............O...........W............E...............R than ever, and getting worse.
MODS ??

puple, I have truncal LE (mild) and do my own MLND when it irritates me. I'm about to join a gym so I hope I don't overwork my arms to the point of LE!!! I can't really use a sleeve, as it would push all the lymph to my trunk where the problem is. But the PT offered one and I questioned it. I was right! I guess she was just used to people wanting something, anything! to help, but I figured it wouldn't.

If you will do a search on Ingrid's Bridal Knot Baby Shawl you will find photos of it on Ravelry. The creator of this piece is my dear friend Bridget Rorem, she is published in a number of places. The baby knot comes from Ingrid's Knot Bridal Veil. I am not a knitter so I can't give you the best discription of it. The veil was as big as my king size bed. Bridget took 11 full time months knitting it. Seriouslty, she did! Bridget also developed a knitted alphabet to incorporate names, dates and etc into the veil. Somewhere Bridget has published the story of the creation of the veil. It is truely a museum piece and I hope you all can find it on the internet to see it.
"A Gift for Ingrid's Wedding," by Bridget Rorem, in the May/June 1998 Piecework. "With more than 700,000 stitches, a mother knits her loving thoughts, hopes, and memories into an elegant bridal veil."
Using extremely fine Italian merino wool on a 000 circular needle, Mrs. Rorem made this 76" square veil, which weighs about 8 ounces. Each pattern has signifigance, from the Celtic knot center to the birds and trees in the border. A knitwear designer, Mrs. Rorem also gives us a "Lace Alphabet to Knit," with excellent hints.
I was also at the wedding and Ingrid, the bride wore the veil as a shawl after the ceremony. Bridget designed this veil before she used computer software, this was designed in pencil on legal pads. Bridget is amazing and I wish you could all know her like I do.
But not here.
I have searched a lot so I will see if I can get Bridget to send me a photo I can share with you. Love Ginger
-
Wow Ginger that veil sounds amazing and I would dearly love to see it. I'm hoping your friend will send you a pic to share.

barbe
Thx for letting me know that since I had mild breast/ truncal, but it is now in my fingers so I am guessing it is also in my arms, but more insidious since I dont wear rings there :>)
Many thanks and good luck to you at the gym.
Go easy! -
Here is the link to the bridal knot baby shawl. To say it is beautiful is an understatement! It takes 3825 yds (3498 m) of Cobweb 1-ply yarn and is 59" diameter unblocked, 80" blocked.

Everyone should see this even if you don't knit.
-
WOW!
I dont knit at all, but sure wish I did . That is absolutely gorgeous ! -
Thanks for the link, AJ. My word, that is exquisite!
