Pickity Place ladies - I got a message from Lynda (Hauntie) last night.  She won't be able to join us - she is having a root canal tomorrow morning (yuck!) and she's purging and packing for a move closer to where she works.  She hopes to join us next time.

Joyce - I'm game for a casino trip anytime!  We could even head to Twin Rivers in Providence - it's a bit closer.  I'm always game for a casino trip...LOL!

Debbie - thinking of you and your dad.  I agree - you shouldn't apologize for wanting to spend time with him, even if you're just sitting in the same room with him.

Laurie, happy anniversary and many more! Debbie, thinking of you and your dad. Just saw my 86 year old dad yesterday. I'm so grateful he's doing pretty well all things considered. My father and I had such an adversarial relationship when I was young (too much alike). Since my mom died though we've gotten much closer and I am enjoying our new relationship so much.

Michele and the rest of the PP group, savor each bite and bring back a report lol!

Dh is going to pick up our new wood stove tonight so the kids and I will be eating whatever.  It has been a busy day with shopping for presents and cleaning.  Where there is no stove for the moment on the brick hearth I just spent an hour scrubbing it down.  It looks amazing!  I didn't think it was that dirty until I started cleaning :)

I am looking forward to Pickety tomorrow and seeing everyone- sorry that Hauntie can't join us.

Hope everyone had a great day and I will check in again later tonight.

Laurie- You look so beautiful in your wedding dress and your DH is so handsome. You son looked so cute in his halloween costume on fb. HAppy Anniversary! How sweet of Michelle and Joyce to offer to babysit.

Specialk- Your enchalada's sounds good too. Did you ever tell us if your skin biopsy was negative for skin cancer? I don't remember seeing anything about it again. Hope all is fine with that.

Carrie- Whats going on with your stomach is it the flu? Hope it's nothing serious!

Joyce- What a great Idea to publish a cook book from here. We could call it the BCFF cook book "Best cancer friends forever"cook book. or something cute and funny, any ideas anyone? LOL!

Michelle-  That pizza place looks big and the pizza looks so yummy I always have room for pizza even when im full. When i was younger I was never crazy about pizza for some reason, but really love it now.

Nancy- I always loved my dad, but like you when my mom passed away i got so much closer to him.

Seaside- Chuck had had several appointments in Porland which is a 2 hour drive so we drove up early yesterday for his MRi on his tumor and then his cardiologis appointment right after. His heart seems to be ok, thank goodness! Dr told him that it was very likely he had a mild heart attack because he does have some heart disease showing but nothing that warranted surgery! Yay! On that. then we saw his other Dr. this morning to discuss the MRI results. Good and bad. The good news is it hadn't grown the bad news is it hasn't shrunk either after the Gamma knife. His unbalanced feeling is getting worse he walks like he's been drinking. So the Dr is going to numb his head and shoot some kind of medicine in his ear. something about it helps signal the brain to the ear something or rather I just couldn't get past the needle is ear thing OUCH! So that will probably be done in the next few weeks. His MRi will be scheduled every six months to monitor it. But he is feeling fine, fine enough to golf ha! My dad is hanging in there. weak and losing way to much weight at a fast pace and his voice is so hoarse I imagine from the radiation. But hard to hear him at times. But he still makes jokes and trys to laugh. I try not to be funny so he wont hurt when he laughs but its hard sometimes lol! Congrats on your 3 year cancerversary!!! Hope you and DH have a nice anniversay too. Happy anniversay in case you don't check in befor that.

Hope you all have a great time tomorrow at Pickety place. Sounds like fun, and Deb take lots of pictures please. ;-))) Oh and whats a fascinator? ha!

Laurie, What an adorable picture! I'm sure you and DH can find time for at least a quick getaway at Foxwoods to celebrate your decade together. Congratulations!

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and hoping that the rain is not as intense as it is here right now.....it's a long, trafficy drive.

Spent several hours today consulting with my "second" replacement about setting up the groups she needs to start with. I am sooooo relieved that she is clearly clinically competent, caring and organized with good instincts. Yay!!!

Tonight I took two dishes to a potluck with some former co-workers. I made a very interesting lasagna with my new favorite...roasted tomatoes....as well as roasted eggplant, sauteed mushrooms with garlic, and spinach added to the the ricotta cheese. It really turned out yummy. Also made a corn and black bean salsa to have with chips, and discovered the vast difference between making that with fresh off the ear corn and canned corn! Fortunately the cilantro provided some taste. Does anyone make that with frozen corn? Maybe better than canned?

    See you tomorrow, Pickety ladies.....:)

Hello everyone! Wow I have missed a lot. Debbie, I am sorry for what you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your DH and Dad. (((hugs)))

Michelle, Laurie, lacey, Bedo, Joyce and deborey, have a great time at pickety place! I wish we could all join you. And happy anniversary Laurie! And I would definitely take Michelle and Joyce up on their offer!

I tried to make cauliflower and cheese soup tonight from a recipe from panera's. I think it was going to come out really good too, but after I puréed it in the blender, I went to por it back into the pot but twisted the pitcher off instead and te hot soup spilled everywhere. Then I broke the pitcher trying to quickly throw it into the pot. What a mess. And now I am without a blender. It's $35 plus shipping just to get a new pitcher for the blender. I think maybe I will replace it with an immersion blender instead? Any advice?

My poor newly adopted dog just got spayed on Wednesday. Poor thing has one of those collars on so she won't pull out the sutures. She is do uncomfortable. She's a tiny little thing, only seven pounds. She's so sweet and cute. My DD went to the high school football game tonight. She had a great time. I think she is going to love high school :)

Have a great weekend everyone! Sorry about the weather.

Debbie, I'm a pizza lover too. You know what they say, even when it's bad it's good. My dh's birthday is Friday and that's what he wants for his birthday dinner -- homemade pizza and chocolate cake. Sounds good to me!

Lovetocook, I love my immersion blender. It's just made for pureeing soups right in the pot. It doesn't do everything a regular blender does (like making a frozen daquiri!) But it does everything I need it to do. I don't have a regular blender, but my DH bought a very small cheap blender just for frozen drinks.

    LoveToCook,

I bought a pitcher for a blender and it isn't the right one! What blender do you have? I would send this replacement pitcher to you for the cost of shipping if it is the right one.

Wow, that would be my luck, to order the wrong pitcher. I have a cuisinart, and I still have a food processor attachment I can use on it, so I can still do some things with it. Maybe everything? But it's a little smaller than the blender. Thanks for the offer and the advice. I have been thinking about an immersion blender for a while. WHat brands do you have/recommend?

I just picked up Sharon's Tamoxifin....and a pork shoulder roast. What a combination...... Tomorrow I'll figure out what else to get. Maybe some corn and/or some green beans and some home made rolls.....

Sharon's tumor marker numbers are still high and the doctor is sending her for more tests. Her energy level is rising toward normal, and that is a good thing.

Debbie..thinking of you and your dad.

I'll read more of the posts and post more later. I've been up since 4am and I seem to be a bit tired.

Eric, get some sleep. I am glad Sharon is feeling a bit stronger.

All you PP ladies have Fun! I just got back from our Madison, WI get together and we had a lot of fun. But I am glad my son let me crash at his place after we are lunch together. That way I was going to make it, and I did manage the drive home, but I am really tired now. Farthest I drove (2 hrs each way. ) since my BMX in Dec! LOL

love to cook, glad you weren't hurt when it broke! try looking at goodwill or st Vincents for a used blender. Or, by a blender with a food processor so you only need one base. But the immersion blenders aren't too expensive. And on top of everything your poor dog has to wear the " cone of shame" LOL

Deborye, that's a long time to be married. You beat me by three years! We will be 39 years this Oct.

Auntie, wish your DH a happy bday for me.

    To all, much love

My dear sister Joyce - you know I am here for you and I hope you feel the love we are all sending to you.  Those calcifications better be nothing but benign, or they'll have me to answer to!!!  And yes, I can help you post a picture anytime!  If you don't have access to a scanner, I can scan them and send them to you so you can post.  Or I can post for you.  Gladly, any time!  I hadn't thought about your parents being married for such a long time, but it makes perfect sense.  Your mom must have been a child bride!!!

Tonight we are having dinner with our whole extended family, including my ex and his wife.  We all get along, which is a great thing.  If I had stayed married to him, we would have just celebrated our 44th anniversary.  But instead I have 32 years with my best friend and love of my life.

Eric - I hope Sharon's tumor markers are just a false positive.  Sometimes it take a few weeks for them to come down after treatment.  Sending positive thoughts for good news.

Debbie - sorry to hear about Chuck's latest news, and I'm hoping your dad is doing OK.  Please take care of yourself, too.  This is a lot for all of you to deal with

Joyce, sending you lots of positive vibes!

Lovetocook, cuisinart has a pretty nice immersion blender. Several years ago cook's illustrated magazine did a product comparison on them. The results listed as a best value one called sunny morning (made by Kaloric I think?) It cost $15 and that's the one I have. Bought on Amazon. It has served me quite well, but I will say, it doesn't get heavy use.

It is a gorgeous sunny day here. I'm hoping everyone has a lovely weekend.

Joyce- I'm with Michelle, those better be benign!! Geesh! You have been through so much already to even have to deal with this worry! I will be praying and thinking of you Monday and everyday for that matter. Awww. glad your little fur baby is doing ok!

Kay- Oh what a mess! I hate those kitchen mishaps! I have an imersion blender but have only used it twice in the year Ive had it. I stick most of my stuff in my food processor and it works fine. If i was on a deserted island I would want my food processor I love it.

Eric- Hope Sharons test come back ok but glad her energy is fine, now you need yours to be too! You need a break my friend.

Michelle-Can't wait to hear all about your luncheon with the laidys. Hope the weather coroperated for you all. Wow, I'm amazed you are having dinner with your ex that is very awesome that you all get along especially when there were kids involved.  I don't think me and DH could ever sit at the same table with my 2 ex's it would be a comedy show of errors. possibly more like a fight at the OK corral. ha!

Tazzy- Have a nice time tonight with friends. My DH is hunting today. Hope he doesn't get anything, I don't like venison and don't like the fact that those sweet browned eyed deer get shot. Wish he would take up fishing again.

Deb- I fogot to say, would love to see your wedding pics. You have been married a long time. Thats pretty rare these days.

Speaking of wedding pictures I guess I will have to wait until 2014 when DH and I go to hawaii to renew our vows we will be married 20 years then and plan on having a big celebration then. When DH and I got married we flew to reno with a bunch of family and friends, It wasn't planned for us to marry at that time, but while sitting in a lounge at Harrah's everyone started telling us we should marry while they were there, it was in Janurary, very cold with ice and snow, so we agreed, we planned on marrying anyway at some point. so me in my sweat shirt and jeans, same for DH we decided to go get our license and then come back and get everyone to get married. When we got there we were cold and it was hard to walk on the ice, me thinking oh they won't want to be out in this cold icy crappy weather, we or more I decided lets just do it now since everyone was drinking and  probably won't want to leave the casino. so thats what we did, when we got back and told everyone they were so mad at us, I mean really ticked off. We still to this day have not heard the end of it. LOL! So needless to say I have no good wedding pictures. I do have some good ones of my other wedding though!

    Tazzy- Have fun tonight!

Debbie- LOL!  Love the story of your wedding even if your friends were mad they missed out.  But hey, it's not about them right it's about you!  Hope your dad and Chuck are doing ok.

Lunch at Pickety Place was great it was so nice to see everyone again, the food was wonderful but the company was out of this world.  I just got a few pics with my cell phone, but I will post them below.  Michelle got a good group shot.  She is off to a second meal right now so we probably won't hear from her until later.
