So...whats for dinner?

Is everyone else seeing a totally different format when you come to Discussion Forums? It took me five minutes to find my favorite forums.
-
Yes Carol it looks so weird? But mine popped right up on my favorites because that's where I had left it open I guess?
I just got back from my 6 month check up with the BS and she said everything looks good. I am now only going to go once a year.
It is such a dreary day here. The plan is to roast a chicken....so I guess I should go do that
-
I am writing this on my Android phone while the kids are having karate lessons. They did a big upgrade today and all the interfaces are different. I have managed to figure it all out but it is a bit strange at the moment. I guess we will all adapt...lol
Laurie, you are right...it is so gloomy today. Roast chicken sounds better than tacos. And woohoo on your good BS visit! -
Whats with the new layout? Hope its not going to stay this way, dont like it at all. had to search for everything and re-log in.
Laurie- Yay on the good visit with BS
-
Debbie - I think you'd better get used to this layout...I'm pretty sure this is what we are stuck with. And I am guessing you will have to log in most times. I think they are trying to protect us a bit.

Found a good, easy, healthy recipe: Chicken taco salad.
1 lb ground chicken (i put it in the food processor); small onion, chopped; small red bell pepper, chopped;
jalapeno, minced (as much as you want for heat); EVOO to saute all that in; lots of chili powder and cumin, salt and pepper. Add 1 can of rinced and drained red kidney beans. Use choped romaine, taco mix, broken tortilla chips and mix some sour cream and salsa as dressing. Tasty!

Apple, haha! That is so funny! It was the first time I laughed and felt really silly today. Thank you! I love that guy in the videos. I love tabouli too It was a great end to a not so great day.
Speaking of weird food, when I lived in Ga I would go to the farmer's market to the "inedible food isle" just for fun and gawk at the prairie oysters, the chicken feet, the cow's brains and other stuff. When I went to the convience store I always wondered about those pickled eggs in a jar, who eats those? And what about those red pig's feet?
Debbie, Now we will have to start a " my silly misunderstanding of posts" list ! My plot in the community garden is one of about 100. I pay $25 a year for it and will not let it go because there is a waiting list. This will be my 3d year. Last year I gave it to charity 1/2 way through because I was diagnosed, but brought some veggies to my nurses. The year before I had so many tomatoes, I couldn't give them away. I had those little yellow pear shaped ones my Mom grew. The city supplies compost and water. We use watering cans to conserve water and compost. We have a bee hive and a chidren's garden area. It's organic and we help each other out, because some members are not able to do the heavy work, we have dinners with our veggies, donate some to charity each Thursday. and get along. So it's fun. Last year I apparently I grew some of the world's strongest catnip. I swear, when I went back to store bought in the fall the cats were saying, bring us the good stuff, Mom! I also grew a 12 foot sunflower! Sorry to carry on, I love my garden . It is good.
Cottontail broccoli and frozen fries sound goood! I don't think I've ever bought frozen fries in my life, but with ketchup, your dinner sounds mighty tasty!
-
This is going to take some getting used to.
-
Oh, Deb, I'm not liking it either. When are we going to have another New England get together? You plan it, I'm too lazy. :O
-
I actually am not minding the new format....mainly because I can now barely recall what the old one looked like. LOL!
Only kind of oddmeat I ever had was sweet and sour tongue, made by a friend's wife. It tasted great (when I put the mental pic out of my mind), but I have never thought to try it again.....most of those other body parts kind of freak my sensory system out. We tend to be so conservative in this country. However, while not being a big liver fan, there was a great dish at Ciro's in P-town that I used to love....chicken livers wrapped in prosciutto, possibly with strips of veal in a wine sauce. Haven't eaten veal or liver for many years and just looked....no longer on the menu.....it was many years ago......
Celts just lost and now I'm sad i didn't just go to bed rather than stay up until the end of game and be exhausted tomorrow. 'Nite..... -
Sorry to rave again - especially w/Debbie's comment. Dinner was Keebler Wheatables crackers w/pecans and dark chocolate Philadelphia Cream Cheese and a glass of red wine. YUM.
-
Vicki- Welcome, your taco salad sounds yummy!
Apple- Those video's were funny, especially laughed at the Mcdonalds one.
Bedo- LOL- Yes, we should definatley start a new thread for that, i'm pretty sure there would be pages of them haha! I just love that idea of the garden, I had never heard of that before. What a great idea!
Deb- I agree!
Minustwo- That sounds good. I jsut made some chocolate graham crackers with chocolate squares. I cant wait to find the choc cream cheese i will be putting that on my crackers instead.
Is anyone one getting a lot of post in there email now? I had it set before not to recieve any notices to my Hotmail box now recieving tons of them. Cant find the link to not recieve them. Arghhh!!!
-
Hey, where is everybody?
-
Evening ladies. so today i had a dizzy episode where i had to use the wall to keep from collapsing. Pretty scary, so....called DH he decides we are going back to the ER. Ok....So because of some of the signs and my "medical history" they are doing a brain MRI, just got back from that and am being kept here for a day possibly 2 while they run more tests, echo, stress etc.
When they said they wanted to check my brain, I lost it. Thankful at the4 moment I am on some adivan, it's helping. Great MRI results will do wonders for me right now.
I'll keep you all posted very nervous at the moment.
-
I hope the new format hasn't scared everyone away!!! They've made a few changes already to improve things, starting with making the font bigger in the text posting box.
I had a great day - got my hair colored and I love it. I posted pictures on the Hair, hair, hair board if you want to see. I tried to change my avatar but that function seems to be broken at the moment.
I didn't cook a thing today...took my mom for a Chinese lunch and we went out tonight for Italian. I am pretty tired after 2+ days with the grandkids. DH didn't stay with me so it was a lot of work.
Debbie - I think they fixed the email problem, you shouldn't be getting them now.
-
Laurie.....huge hugs for you as you go through these tests. It may sound ridiculous, but I hope you can get some sleep in the hospital...you don't have to take care of anyone else and you can be taken care of while they check you out. Holding you in my thoughts.....Thanks for posting us this update, and so sorry for your scare.
-
Oh Laurie - sending love, hugs and positive thoughts to you and your family. I'm sure everyone is worried about you! And so is your BCO family!!!
-
Love your hair Michelle!!
Yes it will be perfectly beautiful as well as practical for your trip! I'm developing some trip envy. Paris is such a special place. We have a scientist friend who lives there and he had us come over for a gala (for the Cancer Society of all things!)at Chateau Versailles in February, 2008. That was amazing! We stayed in Paris, near the Eiffel Tower for the week and had great meals, museum visits, etc. The pathetic thing, however, was that we stayed up all night in our hotel room to watch the Patriots get snuffed by the Giants at the end of the superbowl game ....broadcast in French! We are such crazed Bostonians!
When are you leaving.....so exciting! -
Lacey - thank you! We leave on Friday, May 25th. I can hardly contain myself!!! That's so crazy that you watched the Super Bowl game in Paris...LOL!!!
-
Laurie - hugs & prayers.
-
Dear Laurie,
Haven't posted for a while, but reading when I can. Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you right now. Prayers for comfort as you wait and for answers to your heart ailment.
DD is showing a lamb in our hometown fair. Takeout chinese tonight. Pretty yummy. Will check in again soon.
Hugs to all,
Lexi

Oh no Laurie!! My heart just sank reading this. I know you must be so scared, but im sure and hope it is nothing to do with your brain or nothing serious. May the angles enfold you in there healing light!! Please keep us posted. We all love you here on BCO. Keeping you in my prayers! Big Hugs!!
Michelle- Love your new hair color, it looks great! I saw it on Facebook. Did you know your avatar is missing here? I still dont like the new look of this place but sure i will get used to it. couldnt leave you gals!
I found the chocolate cream cheese at the store today, they were out of the dark and white chocoate one but got the reg chocolate, it is sooo good. Cant remember who mentioned it here. but Thanks!
Again, Laure hope they find out what is going on so you can start feeling better. (((((hugs)))))
-
Laurie: My thoughts and prayers are with you as you undergo these tests. The dizzy spell is typical of what you would feel when you continue to have these episodes of PVC's as it creates a lack of oxygen to the brain. My feeling faint is what sent me to the ER for mine.
You are in the best place right now...they will be able to run the tests and monitor your condition constantly until you get a proper dx. This should have been done before.
Sending you prayers and positive energy!
-
Laurie, my thoughts will be with you. What a scary experience this whole heart malady has been for you and your loved ones. Here's hoping that the puzzle will be solved by your tests and you can return to a happy normal.
I was so happy to step on the scales this morning and see the same number I saw yesterday morning! At the luncheon yesterday following day 2 of the golf tournament, I was SO good! I loaded my plate with a tasty green salad (vinaigrette dressing) and took a talapia fillet and a little spoon of peas. I bypassed the shrimp etouffe with brown gravy and rice and the dessert. And the French bread with garlic butter! For dinner we had steak (small filet), boiled new potato about 2 in. diameter with Smart Balance margarine and Light sour cream and another delicious garden salad with home-made vinaigrette. So I ate well and didn't lose ground with my personal campaign to lose some extra pounds for health reasons. When I was doing WW, we were told to congratulate ourselves on good choices. It's true that the personal satisfaction makes you feel good. OK. Enough patting myself on the back!
Some real challenges coming up this weekend. On Saturday a barbecue with the Woodworkers' Guild club. Then Mother's Day lunch on Sunday, which AGAIN I will be providing. It does get old being the one to buy and prepare the food. For ease of preparation, the menu is boiled whole ham, potato salad, baked beans and green bean with new potatoes. My mother is making an easy angel food cake with pineapple. DH is a big help. He will be bringing the food to my mother's house for noon. My mother and I will go to the 10:30 service at church.
Enough grumbling. I should be thankful that I can afford to buy the groceries and am physically able to cook.
Wishing everyone a happy Thursday.
-
Debbie - I tried to change my avatar to my new 'do and it didn't work. I tried a couple times with both IE and Firefox, still didn't work. So I reported it on the new format bitch thread...lol. I hope the mods remember it, I'll try again today and report it on the newer thread specifically for problems. I'm on my iPad at the moment and I know it won't work from here. I'll try on my netbook in a few minutes. Hopefully, they got it fixed.
Thanks everyone for the compliments. I do love the hair color!
I am meeting a good friend for lunch today at Nordstrom's, I will have to do a little shopping while I am at it. I need to eat very low carb today so I don't have too much glucose circulating in my system tomorrow for my PET scan. Salad and meat today!!! -
Thanks ladies for all the prayers and love. Yesterday almost hitting the floor really really scared me and it took hours until I felt "right" again. They took me at 7 am this morning for the echo test. I still hate that they did an MRI on my brain, makes me think bad thoughts.
Hopefully I will get some results in the next few hours and I can feel relief. Still quite anxious about it all. I just ordered myself a breakfast sandwich and last night I ate a grilled cheese and tomato soup. Hopefully dinner tonight is at home
-
oh and I know when DH shows up in a few he is going to laugh at me, I have brushed my teeth, washed my face and done my hair and some light make up. Sometimes you look how you feel you know?
-
Laurie, my thoughts are with you. I can only imagine how scared you must be. Please know that the tests they are doing are part of a protocol, and that it doesn't mean that they definately suspect a brain problem. Please let us know as soon as you find out. I am keeping you in my thoughts and saying a prayer.
As far as food, I have to give a presentation today, so I'm sticking with yogurt so I won't vomit all over the podium, and taking my Inderal to steady my racing heart and sweaty palms.
-
Laurie: Hang in there...it will get sorted out with the tests. Keep the good attitude..great that you decided to look good for your day in the hospital!
bedo: I hear you...when I was working the thing I hated the most was the public speaking. If I could have ever conquered that, I could have been the first woman President...lol! That is one thing I will never miss in retirement! The key is don't ever let them see you sweat...everyone said I was a natural...haha...if they had only known the real truth!
Carole: Congratulations on holding your own on the weight...once your body adjusts, the weight will start to come down. I don't remember if you were taking any of the Al's but I hear that they sometimes can cause weight gain.
-
best of luck Laurie.. hope you feel better.
I think I will tackle the gallon of hummus today... and tabouli and greek meatball thingies.
