That's funny, in high school my friends used to call me debo. pronounced deeboe.

I have a hair appnt. March 24th but I can call and make it on a week day after work.  We also can celebrate my 5 year cancerversary.  That would be great.

    Debbie,

So frustrating when something hangs on like that and even more so when you have to deal with insurance to get the testing that is needed! My prayers that the testing gets to the bottom of what is going on and that it is easily treatable! Thinking of you and your DH! Prayers going up for you both

Thanks to each and everyone of you for the positive thoughts and prayers!! I really appreciate it alot! Still dont know much at this point, but the xray tech said he didnt see anything jump out at him like a baseball size tumor or anything, but said there was a dark spot that he didnt think there was anything to worry about but that the radiologist will have to look at the scans and say for sure. So, sounds like everything might be ok. We will see,,,

Oh sally i think i called you pat but edited it to correct. but if you are like me you will go by anything LOL!

Deb- they called me debso, One time i wet the bed when i was younger, and my brother started calling me wetso debso LOLOL!! the name kind of stuck but told DB he better drop the wetso part or i would kill him haha!- Congrats on your 5 years!

Lexi- Your rosemary chx sounds wonderful.

    Minustwo- LOL!

OK, is there anyone for whom March 24th doesn't work?  To confirm, please PM me in the next few days.  I'll make the reservation this Saturday.  Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

Debbie - on the one hand, it's good to hear there was nothing obviously going on with your DH.  On the other hand, it leaves the mystery unsolved.  I hope he's feeling better soon.

Debbie- I too am glad there was nothing that jumped out as really bad with the tests, I hope they figure it out quickly and it is nothing serious.

Michelle- Count me in for the 24th!

Feeling a little better today, each day I seem to be improving and I am grateful that I managed not to pass it on to the boys.

Hope everyone is having  a great day.  It's nice that the sun is shining- since they are saying we will be getting some snow.

Laurie:  Glad you're feeling better...if you had the same thing I had last week, I feel your pain!  For a couple of days I thought I had to get better to die!  Apparently it isn't too contagious because my boyfriend didn't get it either.

Kaara- thank you and I am glad you are feeling better too!

Tonight I am making salsa chicken, nice and easy and haven't had it in quite awhile.  I used to make it too much and took a break from it.  I am looking forward to it though.  Tomorrow will be grocery shopping and getting errands done with plans to hunker down for Thursday with the snow coming.  Although I will believe it when I see it.  So far every storm they say we will get we don't.  So, I won't tell the boys to expect it so they don't get disappointed.  Thursday will be a cooking and cleaning day.  I've got to try to come up with my meal ideas!

We're going to have steakburgers on whole wheat buns with peppers, onions and mushrooms and crispy crowns (like tater tots).  Yup, it's a "fast food" lover's delight tonight!  No chocolate shakes, though.  Gotta draw the line somewhere.   DH has a routine doctor appointment at 5:00 so we're keeping it simple as I don't know what time he'll be home.

Michelle- Yummm that sounds good!  What kind of steak do you use for the steak burgers?

Laurie - it's 93 - 97% lean angus beef, I'm guessing ground round would be the only thing that lean.  They were really yummy, especially with the caramelized peppers, onions and mushrooms.  I bought the burgers at McKinnon's Market, the same place where we got the not so good rib roast.  I like that they do their own grinding.  DH loved them and the crispy crowns, so dinner was a big hit.  He's currently on KP duty Kiss

I'm in for the 24th.  What time?

Debbie I'm glad things were negative and hoping that things turn out to be something that is minor and can be dealt with.

Deb.  We are opposites.  My twin couldn't say Sally so she called me Da/ doo.  Accent on the Da.  She and my brother still call me that sometimes if they are feeling affectionate..  I am the smart twin.  I called my sister Ann and my brother John. Haha!

Tired.  Going to bed at 8:00pm.  It was 7:30 last night and I felt great when I got up at 7:30  am!

Night ladies!  Gotta do the nightime 'hope for morning beauty' routine!

Joyce, congratulations.  I know what you mean about a keeper.  We celebrated our 45th last Aug. and I figure mine is a keeper too.  He must feel the same because he asked if we could renew the contract for another 45!

DH has what is called a rare acoustic neuroma, its a tumor on the right side they are pretty sure it is b9 but still needs surgery and rads they said although b9 it is cancerous (?) said it could kill him if it grows to fast, somthing about the spinal fluid and the brain buildup. Relieved it is B9 but still scared and worried for him. Will wait for dr to set up appointment for a surgeon and all the details i will keep you posted.

Joyce- Congrats on your anniversary, Im glad yours and chabbas DH are keepers by now LOL!

Michelle- Your steak dinner sounds yummey

    Nite bedo- Sweet dreams

Dreaming- Yum on the bannas and choc sauce

Debbie, it must be a relief to get the diagnosis.  Hugs to you and your DH.  Keep us posted as things progress.

DH and I were married in 1969.  We wouldn't have married if things were like they are today, with young people living together.  In our day it was called "shacking up"!  We wanted to do some travelling together but knew our parents would be embarrassed and appalled.  So we decided to "get married" for the duration and then get a divorce when and if we wanted to part company and go our separate ways.  Well the "duration" is still going on!  Now one of my greatest fears is that something will happen to him and I'll have to live without him.  I think he feels the same way.

I have gotten a little tired of travelling but he hasn't.  He's now planning our summer rv trip.  If it didn't get so darned hot and humid here in the summertime, I would just as soon stay home.

    Goodnight to all.

I just looked up acoustic neuroma....apparently rads is common for completing removal of the tumor. The dx does sound a bit confusing, tho, Debbie. Can you guys bring someone with you to listen to the surgeon, so you have a clearer picture of this and the treatment for it? Hope that meeting goes well, and that you have a better sense of what you are both facing. (((Debbie))).

    Take care....

Laurie, glad you are on the mend! Yes the boys would probably love a bit of snow at this point. I on the other hand would love not to schlep between buildings for meetings tomorrow if it is miserable out....and was just getting used to the fact that we would get out on the actual anticipated last day of school. And then on the other, other hand, it would be nice to actually have a bit of real winter before spring and summer show up! So, whateverrrrrr.....we'll see what happens. :)

Off to check on how the Celts are doing.....

Pat (who goes by her dog's name)

And by the way, real Lacey is doing soooo well since our trip ....even sleeping through the night (which has been a huge problem, since none of us were getting any sleep so she could drink water and go out a few times a night) Must have sipped from the fountain of (baby) youth. We still can't get over this change, and are mighty grateful!! I feel like we are having a happy little "coda" on her waning life.

Carole and Joyce....your stories are so sweet! I know what you mean about how in the "olden days" (my words) we thought about how our parents would react to our choices. I loved my last name and would have enjoyed keeping it, (keeping one's surname was coming into fashion when we got married in the early 70s), but I knew my very traditional in-laws would be so confused and hurt by such a decision. So I tucked it between my first and then new last name, and we often used it for dinner reservations and take out, since no one had trouble spelling it. Our boys grew up knowing it was their middle name, and the pizza order name! ;)

Its over 2cm so the dr said he definately will have to have surgery and the sooner the better, so it dosnt press on the brain. He also mentioned gamma knife to maybe reduce the size of the tumor. But it will all boil down to what the surgeon says. Im as confused as you too. :-))

debbie6122:  So sorry to hear about the dx.  Praying that all will go well with the surgery.  Gamma knife is the latest technology so he is getting good care.  I assume the radiation is to kill off any tumor cells that remain after the surgery, even though it's B9.  You will get through this.

    Sending prayers and positive energy.

Prayers for both of you Debbie.

Joyce, We didn't have children either although we did want them.  We were a bit older and had lived on our for a time.  I had put myself through college, living off campus much of that time and then teaching for two years.  He spent 4 years in the Air Force and 4 years after that on his own.  I often have thought that maturity and experience helped us avoid some of the bumps so many of our friends encountered.

Love hearing the stories about how you all got "hooked up" with your DHs.  We had both been married before and I was a package deal (me and 3 kids) plus we had a daughter together, so we've had just a few recent years of "just us" to enjoy.  32 years and he still holds my hand Kiss

Heading to my daughter's in a little while - she is having an endoscopy today.  She's had some horrible GERD symptoms and none of the prescription meds are taking care of it.  The GI doc isn't expecting to find anything as she went through the same thing two years ago and everything looked OK then.  But the snowstorm will complicate matters as she is about 45 minutes away.  I'll pack an overnight bag in case it gets nasty before I can get home.

Debbie - anything that involves surgery always seems a little scary.  Sending calming, healing thoughts to you and Chuck.  And thanks for bringing up the thread anniversary - I noticed that a week or so ago and thought how cool it was that this thread lives on and we are such good friends!  I can't even begin to  explain how much all of you meant to me as I went through the move across the country and treatment.  And of course, Joyce and I - well, that is just a miracle!

    Have a great day, everyone!!!
