So...whats for dinner?

Hi all....am writing from my recumbent bike....
Laurie, that is such a clever way to make lasagna...I bet you could add almost anything that you'd put in your regular lasagna.....lately I've been roasting veggies for it. Thanks for the great idea! By the way, I live outside of Boston, but spend lots of time at Newfound Lake in the summer. We close the place for winters since we no longer ski, and tend to drive "south" to visit the grandbaby when I am off from work. Would love to join you ladies at Pickety Place so will keep my eyes out for your date. Those luncheon menus are amazing (to use the Bachelor/bachelorette overused expression....tho now that I said that I think they struck "amazing" from the script this season....it used to ring in my ears all week long after the show).
And Debbie, wish I were there for your yummy sounding pizzas.
I made that French lentil soup (with regular lentils) with the winter squash and interesting spices in it. I think I'll throw some omelettes together to have with it. Maybe put some kale in the omelettes with garlic, onions and sweet red peppers. Better get off this bike and do it!
Enjoy the awards, everyone.
By the way, I should add my real name since my screen name really belongs to our little pooch! I'm feeling like an imposter!
Will tell you how she was named at another time....but I am actually "Pat". -
Welcome Pat ~ I live just outside of Bean Town also. Most of my doctors are in Winchester and Woburn.
Well the American Chop Suey was very tasty and I had a salad on the side. DH had a salad and cooked up hot wings for himself.
Crap, back to work tomorrow.

Ohhhhhh Kaara! I am having blender envy right now!! Had to replace my old cheapie that we got as a wedding gift many years ago and looked at the VitaMix 5200.... For what I would use it for... mostly smoothies.. I just couldn't justify it but, oh man.... The things that blender can do.... Someday!
Kay,
That is a very real Lenten sacrifice you are making!! We will miss the day to day interaction but will look forward to Sundays! Enjoy the extra time with your family! I often think about doing an experiment where we pull the plug on all electronic entertainment for a month but, haven't thus far had the guts to do it!
Been a busy weekend... Going to decompress a bit with DH and will try to catch up tomorrow! -
Bedo: I've looked back but can't find the French Lentil/spinach soup in a crockpot recipe. Would you please forward? Thanks
-
Nice to meet you Pat. My neighbor's dog is named Lacey. They called her that because she was always chewing their shoe laces. Our dog is named Buddy. He's seven. When we were getting a dog, we had picked out Einstein for a name. When the kid at the pet store took him out of the crate, he said come here buddy. My daughter (she was seven) said she didn't want to change his name,so buddy it was. Einsteinwouldn't fit him well any way. Norwouldcopernicus, which what I wanted to name him.
The jambalaya was good! Thanks for posting Michelle! I just have to get low sodium chicken broth, it was a bit salty. Enjoy the awards. Octavia spencer just won. I loved the help. It willprobably clean up. See you next week. Enjoy your week everyone. -
http://www.food.com/recipe/crock-pot-vegetarian-lentil-soup-294219
Here it is, Minus 2
It is good with fresh bread and as much Parmesan cheese as you can stand sprinkled on top without feeling guilty! (Or not)
PS, this is a huge amount of soup, so I generally 1/2 it and I have a regular sized crockpot.
I didn't post it before! Thanks for asking and I hope you enjoy it!

Kay, That's exactly how our Lacey was named! DS1 decided on it after nixing all the super femme names I had chosen for our "dogter". I wanted "Chloe" so badly and he and the rest of the males in the house resisted. So the next day I came home from work and he said, "She's been chewing my laces all day. How about "Lacey'"? I thought it was another sweet girl name, and have always loved it for that reason while for the boys it conjured up that naughty little behavior. Worked for everyone!
Amusing footnote....11 years later, DS1 and wife adopted a rescue dog.....already bearing the name of Chloe!!!
Have a good week! -
Oh Deb....just saw your post also. Oscar has me distracted.
Am a bit more south than you, so get my treatment at NWH and the MGH there in Newton. It has been soooo convenient with my work schedule to avoid going into town. May we both have an easy Monday tomorrow!
-
Very glad to see Meryl Streep win for best actress and Octavia Spenser for supporting actress, Meryl streep is great in anything and Octavia did a great job in the help. I love mostly looking at all the dressess and jewlery, thats the best part! LOL!
Sally- The soup sounds so good, I definatly will be making that! Bet it would be good adding some sweet potatoes in there too. We dont have a savers here, but my daughter who lives in GA talks about it a lot. Good save!
Pat- I love the saying, Dogter, so cute!
Seaside- Hope you enjoyed your evening with DH!
Deb-Hope you have a easy day tomorrow for work. Chop suey sounds yummy, havnt had that in forever!
Michelle- I just remembered you have a trip coming up to paris, is that in March?
-
I forgot to mention, I made the tuna salad for lunch today, it was so good, (Apples mom's recipe) Dh loved it, its def a keeper especially with fresh tuna!
Kay- See you next sunday- wish i was as commited as you!
How long does lent last? You would think i'd know, im spiritual, but sadly i don't,
-
Thanks Bedo. Looking forward to making the Lentil soup.
-
Joyce- Aww, you probably are asleep by now, i would of chatted with you and bored you to sleep LOL! We actually had a dusting of snow this morning and suppose to have some tomorrow too. Hope you are sound asleep by now.
-
Bedo, no the fast is not too bad. What I usually miss most is the cheese, but since I am trying to give it up anyway, it shouldn't be that difficult this year. Bread here is notmade with eggs and dairy, so that is not a problem. I do also allow myself milk in my coffee. We are not saints after all.

Awards show was great...we missed it last year flying home from skiing in Co. I like Billy Crystal...he's such a dynamic host. Why do they try to improve. As much as I loved Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady...she was awesome...the girl that played the lead role in "The Girl With The Dragon Tatto" absolutely nailed her role. She made the book virtually come alive on screen. It was a tough year for competing in the best actress category.
I didn't see "Moneyball" but I would really like to see Brad Pitt finally win an oscar...he's been up so many times. At least George won the Golden Globe for his performance. And what was up with Angelina and showing off her slit dress? She was beautiful but I don't think she needed to exaggerate the fact that her dress had a slit...oh well...that's Hollywood. All the dresses were beautiful!

Those blender soups sound so good, I was never really a soup person but have been trying because my husband loves the stuff.
We did steaks on the grill. Tried a new healthy rice blend with all the super grains that are supposed to be good for you, my DH did not like it at all.....it had a different taste but I didnt think it was bad.
Larie that ravioli recipe sounds good and easy.
Michelle. I agree a road trip is always fun, we dont go too far cause my DH works 24/7. We used to travel all the time, but with the economy we have laid off a lot of our employees and my husband takes on a lot of the work himself. I have a girlfriend from Boston, may have to see if she wants to do a roadtrip.

Carrie - when my kids were young, we used to meet my ex-husband halfway from Pulaski, NY, at the Friendly's in Lee, MA, right off the turnpike. It's 2 1/2 hours from here. Maybe we could find a halfway spot in the same area (a little more upscale than Friendly's...lol) and meet for lunch. I'd be up for that and would be able to make that drive, no problem.
Kay - glad you enjoyed the jambalaya, sorry I missed your comment. This one will be buried by the time you're back on the 'net! I don't think I could give up my internet access, we use it for everything from recipes to shopping, to Facetime on my DH's iPad to talk to the grandkids to paying all our bills. I am wondering how we lived without it!!!
Joyce - welcome home! Sorry you couldn't sleep last night, I hate it when that happens. Now I just take a sleeping pill when all else fails.
Debbie - we are going to Ft. Lauderdale next Sunday for 9 days, and will see Joyce and her DH while we are there. Paris is coming at the end of May. Lucky me!!!
Bedo - aka Pat - nice to finally "meet" you!
OK girls, I'm going to throw a date out for Pickety Place, then we can figure out how it works and whether or not we need to make an adjustment...how about Saturday, March 24th? Joyce and I will both be back from Florida.
Is Saturday better than Sunday?
My preliminary headcount would be
Me
JoyceK
Laurie08
Hauntie (Lynda)
Bedo
Lacey (Pat)
Deborye (Deb)
Ok, if I forgot anyone just slap me silly and say "me too!" The more, the merrier! Deb - there was someone that was part of the group that went to the Glenview, I'm sorry I don't remember her name.
I think we might have to make a stop at Parker's Maple Barn and get a supply of this season's maple syrup as production should be in full steam. And it's located in the very same area.
OK, I need to get off my butt and do some laundry, take a shower, and generally get on with my day!
Laurie - hope you're feeling much better today!
-
RV: Hope you have a wonderful trip...weather in Florida is spectacular right now!
-
Kaara - low 80's during the day, close to 70 at night...this sounds spectacular, for sure!
-
OK Michelle, watch out! I'm gonna have to slap you!
Lacey=Pat (Because that's her dog's name.)
Bedo (me) = Sally because when I was diagnosed, I definitely did not feel like a cheerful good "Do-bee" so I decided I was a "Bedo" the opposite. I obviously was not thinking because all this time I pictured it pronounced Bee Dough until just now, so maybe I am Bee D'oh!
-
Kaara- I agree, what was up with that? I didnt know if she was really trying to be sexy or funny! LOL!
Carrie- And here i thought healthy was suppose to taste good LOL! When i buy my bread i usually only buy the 3 grain, never did like the taste of the 7 or 9 grain bread too much stuff going on, maybe thats the same with the rice.
Michelle- Yes, Lucky you I would love to go to paris some day! Hey, since you are willing to meet Carrie halfway, hows about you all meeting me halfway LOL! I know, I know!!
Sally-Haha! Thats how i thought it BEE-Dough! LOL! Thought it was cute though!
Getting ready to go to the ER with DH he has had dizziness going on for over 2 months now, its constant, not like menieres or vertigo, this is 24/7 with nausea, bloody noses hearing loss, I have been fighting with his insurance to approve the MRI for 3 weeks now, even though the DR. said it was a high priority (finally was approved), his bp has been high, they are Thinking (not for sure) that he could of had some mini strokes, they also ruled out a inner ear infection. So worried about him, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers please.
-
Oh and Laurie- How are you feeling?
i hope better.
And every one else too that has been bitten by this nasty bug going around.
-
Debbie, line up behind Michelle, lol
Sally
-
Yikes, shields up!!! LOL! I know, I know...it's a rough life but somebody's got to make the sacrifice
Debbie - thinking of you and your DH, hoping you get some answers and he's on the mend soon!
Sally - yup, I've been mentally saying "be dough" so nice to meet you, Sally!
-
Debbie- I hope things go well at the ER with your DH. I'll send all of my positive thoughts and prayers your way. I hope we get some good news from you later. I hope he hasn't been having mini strokes and find something simple that will give him relief right away. So scary.
Sally aka Bedo- add me to the Be Dough group:)
Meatloaf is for dinner.
Again- Debbie- thinking of you-
-
debbie: So sorry about DH...that sounds serious. Sending you prayers and positive energy.
-
Oh Debbie, I will be thinking of your husband.
-
Sorry to miss the get-together in NH. Sounds like much fun.
DH cooked red beans with andouie sausage today. We'll have red beans over brown rice and a garden salad for dinner.
-
Debbie, Thinking about you and hoping that you both find some answers very soon. Positive energy coming your way. I hope you have someone to be waiting with while DH is being tested. Good luck!
-
SALLY - Bedo: Guess I'm getting old. I tripped right to 'doobe' (no pun intended), and not doo-be,doo-be, do. Oops. I'l have no problem remembering Sally since I don't know any others. Jan
-
Debbie,
Just read you were taking your DH to the emergency. Prayers for answers and that whatever is going on will be taken care of very soon. I am sorry that he has had to wait so long. That's crazy!
Tonight was an easy dinner. I bought the prepared seasoning packs for rosemary chicken. You just add olive oil and use bone in chicken thighs and red potatoes that have been quartered into bite size. Bake about 35 mins. My DD really liked it. DH is still at work, but I know he'll enjoy it, too.
