So how does everyone like the new table format for "Active Topics"? For some reason, I am needing time to get used to it. Maybe I wish the outlines were stronger so as to stop my severe astigmatism in its tracks. I like the idea, though, and you can see more on the page.

i have just been coming here and checking a few other topics since the format change so I checked out the new spread sheet-oops I mean Active Topics. It is different, that's for sure. I wonder if there was a way to address everybody's concerns without getting out the wayback machine.

Athena, for years the eye doctor and I had decided to ignore my astigmatism because toric contacts are so expensive. About two years ago I went to a new eye doctor who talked me into the toric contacts. It was like getting my first pair of glasses.  It does hurt every time I have to pay for them though.

ETA - just went to the Active Page - OHMYGAWD - could it get any worse?  Does it really make "sense" on a mobile device.  I can see numbers of people posting in "inappropraite" forums increasing.  IMHO, it's trying to increase "hits" for advertising purposes - content, and support for bc women seems very low on the list.  Just trying to attract "numbers" is my guess. Sad.

Sun - I wear toric lenses -still blind as a bat....

....and still unimpressed by the table format. You are right. It looks like an Excel spreadsheet. It's also confusing, because the name of the OP should come first, THEN that of the latest poster. Also, some information is repeated (such as "in forum"). I agree with Riley - it's too busy.

Asigmatism sucks.

I am home for a few days, just fooling around, sewing doing laundry, playing computer games and in a few minutes gardening. It is so windy. I keep putting off the gardening because I hope the wind will die down. I guess it won't.

Rosemary: you name an eye problem, I have it. Astigmatism, estravism a lazy eye and myopia and I'm not a candidate for laser surgery due to a "rolling astagmus" (sp.) I'm not color blind, that's about all you can say about my eyes. Needless to say, I'm a horrendous driver and both I and the world have been safer places ever since I got rid of my car. I'm a hopeless tennis player. And I've got abysmal visual memory. I think that explains my preference for big animals over small ones. :-)

Also sitting here indoors. It has been overcast all day.

Just dropped by to say how BORING I am - I do have a new tiny cyst or nodule in the good boob they want to US in three months but next scans, bloods, etc. are in January - now I am going to go on a diet and try to lose the extra 15 lbs. that showed up in the past year - couldn't diet when I was using food to keep me calm now could I???

I'm here, Athena. Just not much to report at the moment. Waiting for the results of my MRI yesterday. I'm 2 years out from end of treatment, and an MRI is my cancer center's standard of screening at this point. I might have my results by Thursday.

I am really myopic. They don't use an eye chart. They don't tell me how bad it is uncorrected. I always have to wait while they order contacts, even samples. At least it is correctable to 20/20-20/40.

Rosemary - I want your eye doctor's number -lol! Mine insists on putting me through the humiliation of a chart every time. I notice that he shakes his head when I start reading from the third line on down! You'd think he would have seen more impaired patients...

My eyeball pressure runs high-seems to be normal for me. But because of that, and a strong family history of glaucoma, I have to have a visual fields test and retinal photography every time I go in. I'm very grateful that I'm closely monitored but I really hate that visual fields test. I always get a headache, thinking I'll miss seeing something.

Eye Exams - I HATE the part that is the "better one, or two"- so often I can't tell the difference.  Always feel like I'm failing a test.

RAIN, RAIN, RAIN - this is really getting silly.  Also had to take out woolies I packed away, too cheap to turn on heat. Spring? Oh. really????

I am too chicken to get the eyeball pressure measured. I went to the eye doctor once, and I freaked when she said she was going to stick something in my eye to measure the pressure. She ended up not doing it, because I was so scared.

Momine -- I promise you, the pressure test is absolutely painless!  I've had it done several times.

I put off getting contacts for a long time because I was SO afraid of having to touch my eye, so I know what you mean!  Finally, 3 years ago, I had laser surgery to correcrt nearsightedness and astigmatism.  I have to wear glasses for close-up work, reading etc., but it's kept me from having to get the dreaded bifocals!

Speaking of the weather -- after a few really, really warm and humid days, we had a jolly thunderstorm last evening and today it's clear, sunny and coolish!

Yes, that is what the doc said too, but the thought freaks me. I can't even put drops in my eyes. I don't know how to get over the eye phobia, because even if I wanted to submit to the test, I know that I would jump the minute she tries anything.
