E - Happy, Happy Birthday and many, many more.
Love and hug hugs, Sandy (and OS).
-
Just got back from the airport - it's 11:15 and I'm not in bed yet!!! DD & SIL are here for Xmas.
How do I wind down to get to sleep - I'm working tomorrow.
-
Happy BDAY tomorrow, E. BORING Sandy!!
So I was going to go into work today but am working from home instead. I just didn't feel like making the trek so I had a stomach bug. I plan to go to the health food store and pickup the organic turkey. Yum!
-
Virgil is a NUT. He tried to engage a 150 lb. bull dog this morning when I let him out to do his business. I think I'm having a heart attack! Thank God the bull dog's owner had the strength to hold him back. I mean how dare that bull dog walk in front of our house! Virg would have made a tasty snack.
Going to see my gastro doc today. Colonoscopy set up date time. YYYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!
Barb, enjoy your day!
-
Sandy-I'm so glad to hear your BORING news.
Barb-sounds like today is a good day for a "stomach bug".
What is it about little dogs? Our 13 lb. Annie will always try to challenge the Labs, Pit Bulls, Great Danes, etc. that we meet on our walks. They just look at her with pity in their eyes.

Munchkin weighs all of 11 lbs. and will constantly challenge the larger dogs in the 'hood - I keep telling her they think she is a Chicken McNugget - yummy snack for the dobermans but she won't listen! Blue, she's started honky tonkin' just like Virg - it's soooo cute.
-
Hi Everybody!
Sandy .. I am so happy for your good news! My little Winston thought he was the head rooster too. He'd go after anything .. including people.
Blue ... Geez .. I'm glad you and Virg are okay. That would have really scared me.
Barb .. Glad you are working from home today. As much as I need the job I applied for, I hate working for corporate America. That's why I started my own business. I hope something else turns up for you.
I'm making sugar cookies. Trying a "new" recipe from my very old (35 years) cookbook. It calls for confectioners sugar and a cup of butter. Yummy. I'm letting the dough chill now, then I'll roll it out with my Christmas cookie cutters.
Can you tell I was really bored ... bored enough to bake, but not clean. I firmly believe cleaning should be done at the last minute, and my mom won't be here until the 27th, so I'm good for a few more days.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Bren

My colonoscopy is tomorrow. YYYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK is right.
-
Oh, Rosemary, I feel for you. I HATE those.
-
YYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!! Rosemary.
-
Rosemary yuck to the colonoscopy.
BinVa I agree with you about cleaning. I will be doing mine Friday. Before I do the Shelty needs a good brushing she is leaving fur all over the house.
Speaking of small dogs thinking their big Kira weighs 16 pounds, but would happily take on the whole neighborhood. She isn't the smartest tool in the shed is all I can say! But I love her anyway.
-
Virgil is all of 7 lbs., and hateful when it comes to any other dog who even looks our way. He's now going to go in the garage just like a kitty. hahahahahahahaha!
-
My brother and his wife had a Yorkie who thought he was a big dog, too. I went with my SIL once to walk him around the block, and he was lunging at the end of his leash at a BULL MASTIFF!! Who was thankfully chained and secure enough in his dogdom to not want to kill the little dog yapping at him. LOL Their son named the Yorkie "Amos", because that was a "big dog name" and he thought he was a big dog.
-
ok I'm stumped I just got a Smithfield country ham given to me as a Christmas gift. I have no idea how to treat this thing. It has a really odd smell the dogs seem to love. They are trying to climb on the counter. Anyone have any idea what to do with the dang thing?
-
Slice it up and serve it! Yum, Smithfield hams... drool. They're fully cooked, but you can put the whole thing in the oven to warm it up, before slicing and serving.
ETA: The smell might be from the smoking they were cured with. They're not sweet honey hams.
-
it's one of the uncooked ones in the canvus bag! It doesn't even need to be in the frig but boy the house has an odd musty smell now.
-
Hmm, 350 to 375 in the oven for an hour and a half to two hours seems like a good starting place.
-
Directions say to wash it off to get the mold off then soak in water for 36 hours.

-
The soaking will leach some of the salt used for curing out of it. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why couldn't they have gotten you a fully-cooked ham?
-
That's my family we love to do sort of off the wall things! A few years ago my parents gave us mushroom logs to grow our own! It's just us.My son was convinced they were trying tp poison us.
-
Kira - you could give it back and get them to cook it

-
ok so I went on the cooking channel to see if they had any recipes. The guy Alton Brown has one, so I guess I will try that one.
susieq I might not send it back, but that family member will get to eat it. I'm making it for Christmas. Well eve really so if it's really bad I have time to make something else. I want the smell out of the house it stinks!
-
So I am sitting here doing colonoscopy prep wondering why anyone would do a colon cleanse. EVER.
-
EXactly Rosemary.
-
Rosemary I couldn't agree more!
-
EXACTLY!!!!!
-
Because it's better than a cottage cheese enema?
-
Rosemary-"Sitting" would be the operative word, right?

Mary
-
Haha Mary -- I was going to ask Rosemary where exactly she was sitting -- then thought "Better not"
