Thanks Barbara.  I can't believe we lost.  I thought once Subban scored the equalizer, we were going to win.  Congrats on the Lightening getting through. The next rounds should be great.

I'm hoping our friends who were in the path of these storms are OK and able to check in with us soon.  The storms and rain this spring have just been horrendous ... enough already!

How can Le Donald be a racist??  Has anyone taken a good look at him.  He's of the "Red" race.  Even his scalp under what little is left of that weird hairdon't is "red"!!  Must be related to the Indians when they were called the "red" people.  But no good indian would want to be related to him since they are a very proud people and don't use stupidity as an everyday norm!  If anyone watched the news last evening, it was all "against" his actions from what I saw.  He is the only one patting himself on the head and I think that is because he just wants to make sure he still has some hair up there!

Two pieces on The Hair that Roared that I thought some might like.  First an editorial piece from the Washington Post, "Obama is an American.  Let's Move On."

Pulling out a paragraph here, "As the long-form birth certificate disgorged by Hawaii authorities and released by the White House demonstrates once and for all, this is complete nonsense. The “birther” delusion would be laughable if it were not so widespread and if it did not carry with it the unmistakable whiff of racism. We doubt that the questions about Mr. Obama’s birthplace would have taken off if his father had been from Canada rather than Kenya."

This you tube video moved me deeply.  This white woman found that this black man very well articulated the heinousness of what has happened:

Thanks for the welcome, Anne.  I haven't been brave enough yet to try any Brussels Sprouts recipes.  My mother wouldn't serve them because when she was in college, the house mother of her sorority served them all the time, and she got so tired of eating them.  I have tried them a few times in my adult life, and much like any vegetable, they're good if they're prepared correctly.

For all you Habs fans - I'm a Flyers fan myself, being a native of Philadelphia.  Go Flyboys! All in the name of balance here - we'll beat the Bruins for you, lol! :)

And as San Antonio is my hometown, I have to give a shout out to the Spurs.  Are there no basketball fans here?

I still think the Chump is doing this to ridicule the Reps. and that he is doing it to help get Obama reelected. Slinking off with my tin foil hat on.

    Barbara

I will not speculate on Trump's motives. I don't think he's doing anybody on either side any favors. He is making America a laughingstock in the rest of the world.

I fail to see how something so racially charged can be perceived as being done to help Obama.  I think that's quite a stretch to cover bad behavior from Trump, the media, the Tea Party and a lot of Republican politicians.  Those who have participated in this witch hunt deserve the ridicule, brought it on themselves.

Since it is now open season on college transcripts, Trump should release his own. How abot Clinton, McCain, both Bushes? Maybe Abe Lincoln and George Washington?

This would be silly if it weren't soooo racist. I guess we're supposed to believe that it is a coincidence that this all came up about the first black President. Um hm and I have a bridge I want to sell you.

They have already started looking for flaws in the long form Birth Certificate.  Some people just can't accept that Rosemary.

The Chump is very skilled and very devious. His bad behavior could be calculated to stir up the rabid right wing nut jobs (which it did). They all look foolish, disgusting and dangerous. Maybe that is what he is realy after. Obama looked gracious and showed great class, which did not go unnoticed by the moderates and independents.

Barbara, there's no way that I can see something like yelling, "dance, black man, dance" and then bragging that he made him dance as a friendly act.  You keep that tin foil hat on nice and tight but I can't go there.

Trump has one agenda always, promote Trump, and generate publicity for the Trump brand.  He is a firm believer that all publicity is good publicity, so in that context, his recent activity has been a huge success.

It is absolutely ludicrous that this has been allowed to go on for so long.  It is Obama who could have resolved the whole thing quickly and quietly years ago, but chose not to.

The questions of his birthplace are far less related to his race than to the fact that all the principal participants who were present at the birth and old enough at the time to remember it have passed away, so they are not available to confirm the details.  With George W. Bush, we didn't need a certificate, because the press can ask Barbara for details.

Let's face facts.  A birth certificate is only as accurate as the information provided for it.  Usually it is the mother who provides the information, but somewhere between the mother's words, and the notes taken by the local government official interviewing her, and the form that is actually recorded, mistakes and misunderstandings are possible.  If the mother is available to ask, she is probably a more reliable source.

I still think that there should be a specific proceedure in place so that there is a standard of acceptable proof, and a specific official or board to whom it is presented at a specific point in the electoral process so this question is never raised again.

I don't see Trump as skilled at all.

I see him as a person who inherited money ... because of that money he has gotten away with serial bad business decisions and bad behavior and always been bailed out and protected from consequences.  People who worship money follow blindly behind this kind of rich guy ... thinking he must be OK if he has all those $$$.

Devious perhaps because it seems he lies a lot about how much money he really has left to keep the persona alive.  I didn't like him before and this whole episode has turned that dislike into contempt.

In short ... a male Paris Hilton ... except that I suspect that Paris is really smarter and works harder and most likely is a nicer person.

Wabbit, LMBO!! I think he is a skilled self-promoter, devious because he is a democrat when it suits him and a republican when it suits him so who knows what he really believes? He has an agenda and it is one of his making.

The Paris Hilton analogy was great!

PatMom ... yeah right.  Obama provided an official birth certificate long long ago.  The same certified form from state government that would have been enough for anybody else for anything.  I've known countless people who got Top Secret clearances for government jobs with that same form.

In contrast some rightwing nutcase started blathering about how somebody talked to an old lady relative of his in Kenya who said he was 'born in that hut over there' cause she remembered it.  It was all BS from beginning to end.

I wonder why some black political leader does not insist that ALL future presidents MUST submit their birth certificate or valid proof of US citizenship before they could even be in the running.  This way it could never be considered a racist issue and idiots like Trump would be squashed at the gate before the race starts.  Frankly, I am not convince "he" stirred all this commotion up just because Obama is black. I think he is so desperate for national attention that he would do almost anything to put the spotlight on himself even if the light ends up burning "him"!

    Trump did not start this.

Obama has been harassed about this from Day #1.  That is why he did release a copy of his Birth Certificate a long time ago.  But that one wasn't good enough ... and this one won't be good enough ... and then it will be something else.  It's harassment ... and the motive ... well we can all reach our own conclusions on that factor.  But I do not believe for a minute that this would be going on if his father had been from Canada or England for instance.

Trump is just a Johnny come lately who jumped on board the crazy train ... for whatever reason his feeble brain told him it was a good idea.

Well folks ... tomorrow is the ROYAL WEDDING.  Who is going to get up at 4:00 am to watch?

Not me!  I am as interested as anybody else in what her dress looks like, etc. etc. but will wait and see all the bits and pieces that will be televised later.  Probably over and over again until we are totally sick and tired of it all.

I'm not knocking it though.  It's the closest thing to a fairy tale we get in real life.  And William and Kate seem to be genuinely in love and happy.  I see Kate as older and much more aware of what she is signing up for than poor Diana was.   I wish them much happiness.

Whew!  Our power is back on finally.  We had a major, major windstorm here in Niagara.  A tree across the street was upturned and fell partly on our property and squarely on our neighbour's car parked in his driveway.  The beautiful Niagara Parkway has been closed because of downed trees across the road and I counted upwards of about 50 trees (or major limbs) down as I drove to the gym.  I was thinking of otter and kadeeb dealing with the horrendous tornadoes last night, not even thinking about any wind damage here.  No warning -- it just happened!

Anyway, we are also safe and sound (well, some might doubt our "soundness"!) but it sure does make one wonder at the incredibly damaging weather we've all experienced in North America this year.

On a happier note, my favourite figure skater, Patrick Chan, broke all records on his way to winning the World Championship!  WooHoo!

As for Trump and his followers -- what else is left to say?  pathetic, disgusting, embarrassing, nasty.  Yeah, that should do it.....

Linda ... glad you are OK!  These storms are just too much this year!  Hopefully kadeeb will check in before too long and is OK also.  I'm not sure who else is in any of the hardest hit areas?
