sandy, rain? did you say rain? Is that the wet stuff that keeps falling from the sky, and is supposed to continue to fall for most of the coming week? tee, hee....every small creek in the area is now a river, fields are ponds, even the tomato plants are saying "ENOUGH" - global warming...yup. most def. a commie conspiracy, just ask the folks in the western states....
-
Sunflowers, it's the same here. Everybody is saying it's like we live in the tropics now.
-
rr - I wouldn't mind the occasional monsoon - been in India during one - but this is CONSTANT drip, drip, drip, and then thunderboomers, several houses in area were hit by lightening, and then the deluge ( as in "apres moi...) for a few hours....
In between there may be a burst of sunshine, and maybe even a rainbow, and then, drip, slop, drop, wet, wet, wet...definitely hurting farmers ( pick your own strawberries are mud fields) - luckily the blueberries are on bushes, so that should be ok -
Read today that US Air could not fly out of Phoenix AZ cuz temps were 119, and their planes aren't allowed to fly when it's above 118.

Athena - sending soft paw pats. Did you try acupuncture?
-
Blue - you found a pic of an Aussie parrot - gorgeous. I have a flowering gum that gets flowers like that.
Jackie - it was our old chest freezer we moved - I'd hate to see under the fridge as we haven't moved that since we got it years ago. At least the freezer was moved a couple of years ago when we painted the kitchen. I'm sure I told the painters not to move the fridge as it would be too hard.
Lovely lamb roast last night for dinner - perfect for a wet winter day. Sorry you are having high temps.

Blue, I love that dress!
-
My mom made one for me just like that one when I turned 16. It was a green print chiffon.
-
It's been unseasonably cool here, highs in the low 80's. A little weird, but I'm not complaining!
My mom used to make my dressed too. I still miss her.

Note to self...

-
I want that dress! (said lustfully!).

Thought folks here might like this - I did.

Happy Canada Day to all my northern buds!

Thanks guys! I have both my Cdn and American flags waving out front -- lots of visitors from across the river in our town this weekend. And today also marks the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg 150 years ago (in which several young Canuck men participated, BTW). Best friends forever, for sure!

Happy Canada Day!!!
It was an up and down weekend for us. Saturday we got news that our granddaughter broke her arm - VERY badly. Our son sent us a picture of the x-ray - it was terrible. Her forearm was at a 90degree angle. Really disturbing. He said that she wouldn't let her mom come in because she didn't want her to be upset. We talked to her after she was all fixed up and had her cast. By that time she was pretty hyper. They knocked her out to set it. She told me that they gave her sleepy juice.
She fine now, and they will give her a new cast tomorrow - a PINK one (her very favorite color!). They had to wait a couple of days for the swelling to go down. She said she's going to see a bone doctor. Here in Seattle it's HOT (for us anyway). Yesterday was 94, today is supposed to be 90. Yesterday was our 23rd anniversary, so we went to a movie (it was nice and cool in the theater). If you've never been to an IPIC theater, you have simply got to do it. The seats are recliners. The popcorn is free. They serve you meals and drinks, and have wait staff that come to your seat multiple times during the course of the show to serve you. It's a wonderful splurgy way to see a movie!! (It's pricey, but worth it if you don't go to movies too often.)
In the evening we went out for dinner to El Gaucho - horribly expensive but if you're fond of meat, it's got to be one of the best steak houses on the planet. We had chateaubriand (sp?) and split a piece of Key Lime Pie (which is our favorite) for dessert, then came home and opened a bottle of wine. All in all it was a great day.

Just catching up with you wonderful ladies. Happy Canada Day to our northern neighbors! My grandfather was from Prince Edward Island... hope to visit one day...
Lovely dress, Blue. Your photos make me happy.
I MISS ATHENA:(
Sending love and best wishes to all!!! -
Steelrose -- You MUST visit the land of your grandfather and Anne of Green Gables! And the most beautiful beaches to rival any you'll find in the Caribbean. BTW, great to see you again!

GG - KEY LIME PIE....I'm drooling all over the keys. Had my first taste visiting FLA years & years ago - heaven. Would prefer it to chocolate. Hope granddaughter is doing well - send her crayons to draw on the cast

Love the print dress Blue, very 1950's - does everybody remember when we wore crinolines to make the skirts stick out.
Strange it's hotter in Seattle than here in New England - and we've got their rain too....hasn't stopped in days, all sorts of flood warnings til 8 am tomorrow...
HI, ATHENA....
-
Canada -- yes Happy Day.
Rain......here, and rain predicted for tomorrow....a dry day and then more rain. Sure glad there is no such thing as 'ahem' you know, that stuff someone dreamed up.
I'm a key lime lover as well.
GG....the show sounds like someplace where you would be sad to see the show end. Awesome. Glad you had a wonderful day. Sorry about the broken arm that started the week-end. Hope it heals very well and not too much discomfort along the way.

My grandmother used to starch mine and lay it across the top of the clothes line to dry
I thought it was so cool to have my skirt stick out so far. Our granddaughter is doing well. Her dad sent us a picture of her in her cast yesterday - and after she gets the new pink and blue one today (she got to pick out the colors on Saturday apparently), I'm certain he'll send another. I told her she should talk to her doctor to find out what she should do to make her bones stronger so they wouldn't break again. (She is a FINICKY eater, and it's sheer torture to get her to eat!) I'm hoping that the good coming out of this will be a willingness to broaden her appetite. We are going to Costco tonight to buy her a present. She's the youngest clothes horse I ever came across, so it will probably be a new dress (and maybe some markers/crayons too). At least she broke her left arm (she's right handed) so won't be too frustrated that way. She's a budding artist (like her parents are) and that would suck if she couldn't draw for a couple months either.
This is early in the year for Seattle to be hot - usually it's the middle of July. This has been a really splendid weather year here, though. The early 2000's we had gorgeous spring/summer weather, and then for 4-5 years it totally sucked. This year is gorgeous - at least for now.
We'll see what the late summer and fall bring. Out weather patterns (just like the rest of the world's) have gotten a little screwy. -
Great pictures, blue. Oh,to have a waist that size again. Happy Canada Day!!
-
Julianna...love your signature line. What's a waist????And onto.....I did have one at one time, but I was very, very young then. Makes me suspect GG that your gd may not have a lot of waist as well. I was from the land of finiky eaters then too.
Eating used to take up far too much time for me, added to the fact that I ran everywhere, and when not running was usually riding a bike. So I was thin, thin, thin. My metabolism was set on overdrive. Struggling with my weight since age 55 or so. Sigh !!!
Think most of the rain is over for this afternoon but is still lurking and could come back anytime since rain is due tomorrow as well. The a/c hasn't come on in 2 1/2 days. That is not so bad though.

Frustrating day, I hate working from home - couldn't work out how to create a screen the way the business analyst wants in the software - you really need colleagues around to consult. I did actually create something, but it doesn't match her screen design. Can sort it out tomorrow.
On the other hand, new freezer in place!!! Steve said it's big (actually much taller, but smaller in width and depth), but I had trouble fitting everything in. I let it cool for 4 hours or so and loaded it up after dinner. I love the drawers - all nice and organised - no fishing upside down ever again.
Rain seems to have stopped and the predicted overnight temp not too bad for this time of year.
