I hear pessimistic people live longer - though maybe in their own misery.

E - hope treatment goes well. I think the Claritin was used for the bone pain after getting the neulasta shot. I remembered thinking "maybe that's why I don't get pain from the neulasta shot. I take Claritin everyday for allergies." I just started taking the gabapentin this week for the neuropathy. Not having any trouble with it (I.e., tiredness) but not sure it's helping with the neuropathy, either. I'll give it a couple more weeks. Hope your doc gives you something to alleviate the pain!!
Drones ... Shouldn't be used in the u.s. against our citizens. Not sure I like them in war either .. Seems like lots of innocents get killed and I hate that in any war. It's a complicated question for sure! -
I think war should be waged only via a cage match between the politicians/rulers that have decided it is necessary. Maybe using swords or just knives. A lot more thought would be given to other solutions to problems if that was the case.
I remember watching the media coverage of the initial bombing of Iraq. Many pictures and oohs and awws over the 'fireworks' of those bombs hitting the ground. And nobody mentioned that lots of innocent men, women and children were being blown to bits. The detachment from the reality of it all was very disturbing. Airplanes and missiles allow the detachment ... drones increase it.
Anybody else remember this Star Trek episode? http://www.startrek.com/database_article/taste-of-armageddon
-
That particular episode is playing today on our "space" channel!
-
BUT, I still want a drone!

-
The guy had a hand gun and the cops shot him with bean bag pellets. Certainly not a common ocurrence here. I think it's the first time in 40 odd years someone has had a gun in the CBD.
Tried to sleep in - didn't work as usual. Still raining and more to come - I love it - don't have to water the garden.

Is anybody good at raising orchids? DH gave me some beautiful planted orchids for Valentine's Day. So far so good, but I have always heard they are very delicate and hard to raise. Any suggestions about how to keep them healthy?

Yorkie, keep the bottom of the pot in a container with some stones and make sure there is always water. They will keep blooming. We have had lots of luck using this method. No direct sunlight either.
-
Blue, the container is filled with some mossy stuff. The instructions say to water every 7 to 10 days, also to keep away from direct sunlight, which I have done. Maybe the moss stuff keep the plant moist for a long time. My DD said to mist them also. I will do the rocks thing. Thanks!
-
I'm trying to post a picture but not having much luck.

Finally!

-
I see. Yep I can do that!
I just love the little girly Chihuahuas, all in pink!
-
We revived quite a few stems using that method. Good luck! They are very delicate.
-
How do the rocks help them?
-
Onc prescribed Gabapentin (disgruntled *yaaay*) and some steroidy thing. I take the Gabapentin first - if it doesn't work I switch to the steroid.
Claritin never worked for me - not for Neulasta or for the Zometa. Today was Zometa AND Faslodex - a double whammy! And, as usual, I called the nurse a bitch, told her I hated her, and I may have mentioned a very warm place she should visit soon. Those Faslodex shots HURT!
And Blue, I directly applied the photos of cute puppy doggies to my aching limbs but got no relief. What kind of world do we live in?? Cute puppies are supposed to cure everything!
Wabbit - I remember that Star Trek episode. I had to have one of my special, solitary walks down our street to think that one through!

One more photo of my boy

Not sure. My daughter's uncle-in-law grows them and gave us this tip. He has almost 50 plants and they are constantly blooming and producing new buds. So we trieed it and sure enough, it works.
-
What a handsome majestic boy he is! You ain't too bad either!
-
He would have been 7! Just breaks my heart. Dylan Hockley, Sandy Hook.

Hi all. Will report more later, too done in to write much, but suffice it to say, my mother-in-law, Mildred D. Manning, the last suriving Angel of Bataan, a wonderful and loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, died this morning in my husband's arms.
Two stories about her:

Alexandria, take care of yourself and husband and know that we are thinking of you and hoping to help you bear your sorrow
-
Oh, Sandy. Thank you for sharing your mother-in-law's heroic life with us. The world is a smaller place without her great spirit. Peace and healing to you and your husband and family.

Alex, what an amazing woman. Thank you for sharing.
