Belinda, same here. As I said "it's free to look." :-)
ETA: I would wear look no. 4 today. And pre-F---ING Tamoxifen I would wear look number six as well.
-
Yes, fun to look and dream.... I do like the jacket and would wear that piece (if I won the lottery and could afford it : ). However, if I win the lottery, that's when I'll splurge for a Chanel jacket : )

Looked at the Kate Wells video and of course I went surfing, knowing "everything you read on the Internet is NOT true". Maybe what I found isn't, but what the heck...
Seems the guys who made that video according to a police report, had been up to some other hijinks inside the festival and a non Muslim worker named Roger Williams, called in a complaint that they were harassing him, hence the breach of peace.
"Ofc Kapanowski:
Williams stated a film crew began recording him doing his festival duties. He advised the subjects (later identified as Negeen Mayel, Nabeel Qureshi, David Wood, and Paul Rezkalla) that he did not want to be filmed and told them to stop. Williams stated that they did not stop and instead, began to surround him. He added that he felt extremely uncomfortable and thought he could not leave although he attempted to several times. They continued to pester him and badger him with questions and continued filming. Williams again told them to stop filming. Qureshi and Wood, as well as Rezkalla, finally put down the microphone and camcorder to speak with him, but he noticed Mayel still filming within hearing distance. He radioed to security for assistance and the parties soon left. He advised Alslami that he wished to make a formal complaint with the police."
They moved outside in time for the police to arrive so they could get the additional footage. They are activists, not just some local folks who wanted to peaceably assemble. They were on a mission to get some video footage to edit to get their message out and solicit donations. They stepped over the legal line on purpose. -
I win the lottery, I'm buying a horse. Can I board with you, E?
-
-
I'm with you, Belinda - a Chanel jacket or three, and a purse.
-
Hey I've been mistaken for a drunk. Does that count as sterotyping? Oh, and I never had a drink either! hahahahahaaah!

A call to prayer is hardly implementation of Sharia Law.

McCain once again showing his mettle - and it's not pretty.
-
McCain, a hell of a guy.
-
Alexandria - YES! We can be horse buddies and take the Olympics by storm!
On the topic of religion - I really don't care what people believe, as long as they respect my right to disbelieve everything and others' rights to believe what they like. Honestly, why is this difficult?
I thought that if I ever tried organized worship again, I'd try the Friends. There's a Friends Meeting about 15 minutes from the new place. :-)
-
McCain - he's just a confused GOMer who should retire and live out his days peacefully, chasing the neighborhood kids off his lawn with his cane.
-
seems someone is confusing a muslim call to prayer, for "shariah law" - next I guess we're going to have to stop churches from ringing those "bells" - clarion call to arms????
oh, my.....guess we also will have to prevent a Jewish Rabbi from using the Shofar...gonna be a sadly quiet country....

-
yorkie - that is very very, VERY special - thank you...
-
How I wish it were true.....
-
It felt special to me also.

Peace --- it is something you have to want. Accepting our fellow beings on this earth is challenging so very often and at times doesn't even make total sense. I still remember as a young married person.....how much I really loved everyone. Even then I knew that I had little in common with the vast majority of them. Yet, I knew that intuitively it was the differences that should be celebrated....there is where you learn and grow and hopefully so do they.
Sadly, whether it is politics, religion, customs or any number of things too many can't let it go. Yes, there are things we don't have to and should not tolerate, but in the main I will be who I am and be Gnostic in my spiritual approach which has served me pretty well these last 15 yrs. I remind myself daily -- mainly at night when I set aside a time to pray/talk to the Universe that love is the only answer. If you can love, you have far less time for hate and discord and a much higher ability to investigate and decide on a balanced approach to how to deal with your life and circumstances.
At times I still get upset/emotional about things.....in a world like we have it is not easy to stay focused. I think of that quote --- I'd have to look it up now but it says something to the effect " I didn't say it would be easy - I said it would be worth it ". So in the end --- its a task like any other, but a most important one. I try to be mindful every day that I can't change much, but I can change my thinking and try to be loving and sensitive. I can fight against lies and try to live a good life. I think if we try to make the area that surrounds us a better place....maybe our neighbor will feel inspired to do so as well.
Old hippie Paula....glad to see you back.

Something I shared on one of the threads just this morning:
Imagine how our lives might be if everyone had even a bit more of the Wisdom that comes from seeing clearly. Suppose people everywhere, simultaneously, stopped what they were doing and paid attention for only as long as it took to recognize their shared humanity. Surely the heartbreak of the world's pain, visible to all, would convert everyone to kindness. What a gift that would be.
-
Jackie just beautiful!
-
Jackie, is this the quote you were referring to?

Btw, just noticed believe is spelled incorrectly ; )
