Wednesday Weigh In

I’m down 3 pounds. I should be excited but it’s just a slap in the face how hard I have to work now to lose any weight. I’m sure my age (just turned 55) has a little to do with it but I want to blame it all on BC! Can I do that???? I’m not giving up! I finally signed up for follow my health with my PCP office and after seeing obese in my medical records now I’m like WTH! I’m 5’2” and wear a size 8.....are numbers everything?.
-
Down 1 last week, up 2.5 this week! I'm 58 and it is getting harder and harder. After one year on Tamoxifen the MO said I am ahead by not having gained 40 lbs on the big T...I find that totally unacceptable!
-
Down 2 this week at 157 (I have to post the actual weight or I don’t remember it from the week before). I am wearing my 2nd largest pair of jeans today for the first time in about 4 months and they are only a tiny bit tight. I managed to hit myself on the nose with a barbell when I was doing my weightlifting and have bruised my face really badly so this weight loss comes at a significant cost. I am restricting my eating quite a lot and find that all food tastes completely amazing and delicious. I really look forward to each meal. I hope I can keep it up for a fourth week then for week five I’m planning to relax a bit, then I’ll start again. Hope I can stick to the plan I feel so much better a bit lighter
-
down another 2lbs this week. I’m back to pre lockdown weight now after 4 weeks of serious dieting and daily exercise. I’m going to give myself a week off and then start again. So I will definitely gain this week
-
I'm really impressed with your efforts and persistence. Enjoy your week off.
-
OK so I put on 4.5 lbs this week, after losing 9.5lbs in the previous 4 weeks. Back to the strict diet
-
Well it has been a couple of weeks since I posted...since then I had a back problem and gained 4 lbs and have since lost that plus .5 since I last posted...
-
I am looking and feeling very pudgy (which is verified by looking at the scale). So.....this it it. I am going to start logging my food, posting here every week, NOT snacking, and all the things I know I should (and shouldn't) be doing. See you next Wednesday!
-
I'm hovering in the same 2 lb range. I would like it to be a few lbs lower, but evidently not enough to do something about it. I fell in our basement 3 weeks ago and have been using a cane ever since, so no exercise. Our house has steps everywhere and the only ones I've managed so far are the ones between the living floor and bedroom. Those are carpeted and have a good handrail. The basement steps don't have a handrail at the top. We could add one but it's the only place to bring in large objects (stove, frig). The front door has steps and a sort of ok handrail. I think I could get down those but haven't tried yet. The next place I live should be one floor and with a bathroom off the bedroom - not a floor down.

I've been holding steady, but 10 pounds more than I was last fall. I can't even begin to think about dieting for real, but I am working on portion control and substituting unsweetened ice tea and water for my sugary juice drinks.
-
I’m down 7lbs since I last posted nearly 2 weeks ago. I have been doing strict low carbs with no snacks and lots of cycling and weightlifting. I’m still around 15lbsover weight, but pleased to have lost 13.5lbs in the last 7 weeks. Now I just need to keep going with my new regime.
-
I’m exactly the same this week (153). I was down 3 until yesterday when I decided to have a “day off” my diet! Back on it today....
My husband has also been getting fitter and losing weight and he is down around 30lbs since the beginning of March. He is really inspiring me everything is easier for me if I do it with someone else - gardening, dieting, cooking, exercising. I do like a companion!
-
Scotbird, That really does make it easier.
When I weighed this morning I was at my goal weight! We'll see if it holds for a week or two before getting excited. I think it helps that my appetite is down during our heat spell. One night I suggested we have watermelon and ice tea for dinner. DH laughed, but I wasn't kidding.
-
Oh dear I am up 3.5 this week. I’m like a yoyo. I’m determined that there will be an improvement next week.
Wren how great to be at your goal weight. I’m so happy for you - I need to work on how to stop sabotaging my good intentions with a few “days off” where I eat far too much. Any tips would bewelcome on how to stick to it more comsistently. X -
Up 1 since I last posted on Jul 15th. Today is my b'day...so need to make my mid-year resolutions...
-
Happy Birthday TrimTab. Celebrate for at least a week.
-
Down 3lbs at 153.5. My husband has become my personal trainer and nutritionist. He is great, I need the support.
-
Good for you Scot! I need some motivation!!
-
I'm down 1 for no apparent reason. Maybe hauling myself up and down stairs on one leg takes more energy than I think.
-
Hope the leg is getting better Wren. Take it easy
-
-
Down 2.5lbs this week and down a total of 15.5 lbs from my out of control maximum lockdown weight at the end of Apri, and lower than I’ve been for nearly a year. A good week. I’ve been sticking to a low carb diet with 2 healthy Snacks a day and 4 exercise sessions each week. It works!
-
Good for you ScotBird! Isn't it wonderful to see results?
I'm .5 lb under my goal weight. DH has been cooking low cal meals and it evidently is real exercise to maneuver around on 2 canes up and down stairs. I'm happy with the results, not so much how I got here.

I am so frustrated. I am desperately trying to lose weight and getting nowhere. In part because when I do well with food and exercise I don't really see the scale move and that leads to frustration and then I eat more which does make the scale move...upward! I am post menopausal and on Letrozole. I want to cry. It is so defeating and I feel rotten about myself which has caused me to be so down and have no motivation. I have my follow up with my radiation oncologist Monday and have gained so much weight since I finished radiation, stepping on those scales is going to be even more humiliating than usual.
-
Hi,
School is about to start and every year I say I am going to exercise, eat better and lose weight. Since we had no spring break this past March, I am telling myself I will be ready for Spring Break 2021. (If that gets canceled I will probably legit cry!) Does anyone want to create a private accountability group on FB where we can post and keep track better? And help motivate each other with recipes, workouts, etc?
-
AnnE16...I'm not on facebook but gosh that sounds like a great idea. I wish there was an alternative for those of us that aren't on FB. Gosh I hope 2021 is kinder to all of us!
-
You can start a new thread on here, eg. weight losers to encourage each other or something like that. I'm kind of bummed because I thought I was at goal weight, but my scale was lying.
-
Wren44...I love the idea of starting a thread here for support and encouragement (and accountability)! Since AnnE16 brought it up I will give her a chance to start the thread if she would like to. If she doesn't then I will happily start it.
-
I don’t really go on Facebook much either, or Instagram (although I do have an account). I occasionally look on it and say happy birthday to people or like their posts, but it doesn’t really make me happy or satisfied when I go on it, and I seem to see a lot of advertisements and “sponsored posts” which I find off putting. Since cancer I try to do only things that make me happy. I love this thread and find it very supportive and encouraging. I come and go, often not on a Wednesday, and I post my actual weight because I don’t remember it from week to week otherwise. Welcome cm2020 and AnnE16, do join us here!
