Keep us updated on your son.

I'm going in early in the morning for a Breast MRI, just routine.  Still gets me nervous.

They are administering blood thinners, and have taken him for exrays and ultrasounds to see if there are any more clots near the surgery site.  No word on the results yet.  They still are not letting him eat for at least another hour.

I have contacted the Chaplain service at the hospital asking for someone to check in on him and give me more information on his medical condition.  I had to do this by email so I will wait for contact back.

Thank you all for your support and prayers.

I have the passport application filled out and will contact Congreesman McCarthy's office tomorrow to see if they can help expedite it.  If I need to go I need to try to figure out how to get the best  deal.  I wish they would transfer him back to Oahu when he is out of the woods.  It would be easier to afford.  I know that is probably that last thing I should think about, but I do.

I spoke with GraceOkinawa tonight.  She still has a lot of contacts in Japan, and she also can call internationally.  She called Matt and the doctor was there.  Although it lasted a longer time, they might be classifying it as a TIA Transient Ischemic Attack.  It is a warning stroke which is able to dissolve before doing any permanent damage.

Grace is doing pretty well.  She is on Herceptin at least until April and it is causing her fatigue and pain.  She will be going in tomorrow for another infusion.  (I hope I am getting the info correct.) Let us pray for her that she begins to regain her energy and that the pain would begin to subside.

She has contacted someone from the church who is on his way to visit Matt.  He will contact me if there is anything I should know.

Thank you for being here with me.

    Meece...Thanks for all the updates.

It must be a very difficult time for you.

But the worse is over they know what they are dealing with.

I know Iknow it doesnt make it any easier for you. From one mother to another sometimes I think if anything Im 11 hours away from my DD. So I really understand what you are going through.

He will be okay of course it would have been easier if he was in Oahu.

I would send my DD and her fiance to the hospital to visit him.

Meece..I have some one pass miles from Continental Airlines. But you also have to be a member to one pass miles. I generated almost 10.000 miles when I went to Hawaii.

I will gladly offer it to you if it could help you in any way.

    Hugs

    That is sweet of you.

The interim pastor's wife called.  She is the person who was a nurse at the hospital.  She is going to see him and will let me know what is going on.  I told her of the embolism he suffered prior to this surgery and she thought it was interesting.  perhaps she will give this info to his neurologist.

Again, thank you for being here with me.

Meece, God has held Matt in His hands all night and kept him safe for you. You know that. I pray you have gotten some rest through all this. Us mothers are spinning with you, but cannot imagine the pain you must be going through. Please know that Matt is still in my prayers.

Today's update as of about 6 hours ago:

The wife of the interim leader of Matt's church went to see Matt.  She is a nurse.  The doctor, as well as three guys from Matt's unit, was in the room.  First blessing is that Matt is not completely alone right now.

They are considering classifying it as a TIA, because the effects are waning.  They have been putting him through many tests and scans. (We all know what that is like.)  It appears that they have found a hole in Matt's heart.

Perhaps it has been there since birth.  The doctor equated it to the perfect storm.   All the conditions were there for it to show itself.  Because of the hole (bear with me, I am taxing my memoryand understanding right now.) Oxygenated bloodcould have gone backwards towards his lung, which could have caused the embolism before the surgery.  It could also have caused the clot?

It is now about 9:30 pm in Okinawa.  I figure Matt will call soon, but I feel more at peace today.

It appears to get an expedited Visa it could cost over $400 just for the government fees and processing.  As much as I want to see him, and be with him, I am going to hold tight and wait to actually hear from the doctors.  Thank you Seyla, for your offer.

God has put so many of you angels in my life.  Thank you, and Thank Him.

Okay all you crazy women. Stop your worrying about me right this second and take care of our dear friend Meece and her darling son Matt.

Meece-My daddy is a retired military officer from the Coast Guard, Chief Warrant Officer 4. For those who do not understand ranking in the military this is pretty high up. He knows a lot about pulling strings in the service. SOMETIMES if they have a flight that is not full they will take military officers and their spouse for free. Meece I recommend talking to the Chaplin about this. There isn't any peanuts or pretzel involved but it may be an option. I can't tell you how much I wish I had a private jet to get you to your baby in his time of need.

As for my CT scan, 5 different docs. have to look at it before they all send their reports to the oncologist. They said Friday or Monday. So besides praying I plan to focus on the beautiful things all around me, including all you beautiful ladies.

Meece, still here and keeping up. Just haven't posted but please know you and Matt and all of you remain in my prayers.  Things sound more hopeful that this has not been of the magnitude you (and all of us ) feared.  Any thing is bad when you are that far away but I have heard of TIA's and know that now that they know about that tendency, they will proactively treat him from now on.  My husband has been taking anticoagulants since 1984 for his rare blood clotting disorder.  He also had an A-Fib episode and possible stroke back in 2005.  He is pretty much the picture of health at this time.  His anticoagulants keep him going.  If we could just stem the progression of the P.A.D. in his legs we'd have it made..  My daughter lives 1400 miles from me so I can sympathize what this must be like for you so I send extra virtual hugs.

PauldingMom, sending you all good wishes and an excellent report for all the Dr.'s looking at your test results.  Hoping it too is less then all fear.

Deborye, hoping for a totally clear MRI.

I know there are others going through tests and trials in this journey, please know I wish the best for all of you and pray God's blessing surround you all.

Paulding.  I am so glad that your are getting a lot of experts to look at the scans.  I will pray that God gives them guidance as the check, and that if there is anything that needs to be addressed, it will be dealt with.  Holding your hand as you wait through the weekend, but hope you only have to wait one more day.

As a side note:  Grace's scans on the lesions on her collarbone showed that they are gone!  The chemo took care of them.  I pray that all of the beast will vacate her body, so she can return to being an active person.

I spoke with Matt 7 hours ago.  He is a bit down, as the doctor said that it might take 10 years or longer for the numbness in his face and arm to disappear.  They are continuing to monitor him in ICU and the doctor is not going to committ to anything past one day at a time.  We do not know if he will be transferred to a regular room, or if he will be discharged.

They told him they would try to control the heart issue with meds.  But Matt couldn't tell me anything more on that.  I am sure this means that he will be leaving the military soon, and we will have to decide what the next step will be then.  He had never planned on returning to this state, but had mentioned he might go on to Bible College.  I am extremely happy with my cardiologist, and would feel confident with Matt under his care, but I don't know if you get choices when you are on the militariy insurance.

Thank you so much for your kind offers. I goofed when I wrote Visa, because I knew what I had been looking up was Passport information.  Thanks for catching that, Mum.  I went to see "my" congressman's office and screwed up and said Visa there too.  I know better, just can't think straight.  They indicated they can get me an appointment for an emergency PASSPORT, when I have my itenerary or tickets.  They indicated that since I am the only next of kin listed, perhaps the military could help me with transportation.  I will be checking into it.  I picked up certified copies of our birth certificates today, and found out where I can get cheaper passport photos taken. Just trying to get my ducks in a row.  And now I wait for the next call.

My parents have offered to loan me the money for the trip.  Today is not as much of a dream-state for me.  I worked for five hours then took off to try to get this stuff done.

Thank you for being my friends.  My first thought once I processed what was happening, was to come to the garden, but I knew I would not be alone.  You wrap your friendship and prayers around me and Matt and it is definitely felt.  I can only hope that I can reciprocate in your times of need.

I am blessed by you, and God is Great!!!!!

Thank you for the update Meece, the prayers continue. I am disappointed in the doctor who said 10 years....what a dumb thing to tell someone so young! With physio, who knows??? He could be fine in less time.

Dear friends, please know that I truly consider you all sweet friends.

The oncologist called us in today at noon. Not my reg. doc as he is on vacation. As you can imagine we were very scared but I convinced myself it was nothing. They sent me straight to the hospital. I have "it" in my brain, several lymph nodes, possible bones and possible liver. Getting a blood transfusion now. Radiation on my brain tomorrow, port placement and bone marrow biopsy tomorrow too. My poor family is a wreck, especially DH as he is still getting over the flu and has high blood pressure as it is.
Can anybody pray really really hard for us? I knew you would. Smile I'm going to call my pastor friend here and give him a piece of my mind. Then he can set me straight again. That's how I roll. Yes, I'm staying strong, but the damn feels like it has broken and I only have 10 skinny fingers.

Meece- you are doing great. When you get to that baby boy of yours give him an extra mommy hug for me. Right now my son is being the rock of our family and it's killing me to see him act so strong.
I'll probably be here on and off. Just know that all is going to be fine. I'm to damn cute to be sick and I've got a list of things I've got to get done at home, so I won't be here long.

    Pink Hugs to ya'all, Lisa
