I hate puter woes even more than I dislike the holidays.

Barbe -- if you're on PC, I right-click on the pic and select "Save picture as..." and save it to my desktop.

    barbe -

    I know, girl - that's okay. Wink

Found out today my dear Aunt is on her death bed in Texas.  Just lost my mom in March so was feeling pretty blue thinking about her (and also my father alone in that house this holiday season) and then found out about Aunt Shirley.

See why I hate the holidays?  Undecided

If  you had someone designed just to nurture you what type of things would you have them do for you?

Santa poop?  I thought that was coal in my stocking!!!

Well, since you ask Merilee -- this all takes place in a very luxurious house.  Let's say it will be George Clooney doing the nurturing.  He will draw a bath for me with beautifully scented bubbles, low lights and candles.  He'll help me into the deep bath, wash me with a big, soft sponge.  He'd rub my feet and watch me with admiration and awe.  After the bath he'd help me out, dry me in a big white thick robe and slip fluffy slippers on my feet.  Holding my hand, he'd take me to the dressing room, help me slither into a silken sheath and lead me barefoot to a sumptuous 5-course dinner, each course complemented with a fine wine.  He'd hang on every word I said and amuse me with stories.  Finally, he'd then lead me to the bedroom, help me out of my dress and then brush my hair with long, slow strokes.  He'd ease me onto the bed, lie beside me and watch me fall asleep; safe, warm and very content.

Wow! Great fantasy Elizabeth! I'm in! Not with you and George, but I mean, like, with him and ME. Embarassed I do think a full body massage has to be in there somewhere. And no stomach gas or bloating after all that food...

George would even find our farts endearing.  Maybe a gentle backrub as I fall asleep?

After I fall asleep, George will gently ease off the bed and head over to see Barbe...

^ Post of the day  (see above).

Yesterday, in the lobby of my office building they had free cookies (not very good ones) and hot chocolate at lunchtime.  They also had 4 people dressed in period costume singing Christmas carols, which was really creepy.

    1) I'm not the "Colonial Williamsburg" type, and 2) why was Christmas supposed to be better in the 1800's, anyway?  I mean, didn't you have to smell horse shit in the streets back then?

What a great thread. ROFLMAO!!! I'm glad I'm in an enclosed room at work so no one can hear me laughing! I especially like the one from marie317.

    Elizabeth - great fantasy!!

The holidays would be so much better if the happened during warmer weather. How does that work for all of you south of the equator? We just had a whopper snowstorm (luckily not too bad on my side of town) but what's even worse is the single digit or lower temperatures. I despise the cold!!! Give me palm trees, blue surf and sandy beaches PLEASE!!!

No -no -no.......if you don't enjoy all the preparations for the holidays the weather really does not change that. We have the palm trees and the  warm weather ( most of the time ) and  it  does not matter if it is not your thing. I enjoy the day and the eve once it arrives .......... just bitch about all you need to do.

I have seen this thread and wanted to participate because I too would like to go to sleep and wake up on January 2nd.  This has been a hard year for me because I just had to start IV chemo again.  To date, I haven't bought one Christmas present and don't have any desire to go shopping.  I have a huge family who doesn't believe in not giving presents.  Including 9 great neices and nephews.  Come Christmas Eve I can't stand the thought of being there while all these little kids are running around screaming to the point I will get a headache that won't go away for 3 days.

Of course then there will be the endless questions about how am I doing, how do I feel yada yada.  If my hair falls out on schedule it will be the week of Christmas.  Oh Joy to the World and all that stuff.

My husband put up our Christmas tree yesterday and today he wants us to put up the ornaments after breakfast.  I can already feel the anxiety rising and I would much prefer to stay in bed.   I'm stage 4 and somehow I think this might be my last Christmas.  Can't figure out if I will fee sadness or relief.

Palomino -- you can always use the chemo card -- you have to be careful of germs and since kids pick up so many colds at school you could say you have to leave early,  or you're tired from chemo. I can feel your anxiety rising all the way here in Canada!  Be good to yourself and don't do what you don't want to or can't.

palomino, I know my problems with the holiday don't come close to yours, but every year there's a little voice in the back of my mind saying "maybe this will be the last Christmas."

I went to a friend's Christmas party last evening  At one point I looked around and realized that I was the ONLY unpartnered, single person there.  I was the only one going home by myself.  I didn't go to church today knowing that the whole thing will be all about "family" and "togetherness" and "enjoying each other's company."  Yeesh.  Never mind that some people are single and have to carry all the holiday work on their own two shoulders.

I hate this time of year.

Native, It just clicked why I don't go to church this time of year - couples, families, togetherness.   I am also the one who arrives alone, sits alone, leaves alone and goes home to an empty apartment.   This is my 7th Christmas since my husband died and I will get "through" it.

I will go to my son's for Christmas Day and it will be all couples except me.   I was invited to a New Year's Eve Party - starts at 5 pm, play games and bridge, buffet dinner at 8 pm, then everyone has to leave by 10 pm.   WTF ??   No watching the ball drop around the tv set?   I declined the invitation, saying I don't drive that night due to the crazies out there.
