CALLING ALL STAGE I SISTERS

Hi Sue:
I related to your post...Stage 1 at 48. Lump/Rad/Reconstruction/Infection following reconstruction. One breast is beautiful, the other a mess. 6 years clear. Now on Arimidex and feel like I swallowed a puffy pillow. I dislike the color pink and the word, "Survivor." I want to forget what I went through and move on. I was fairly good at it until my sis died last year at 58. (She had Stage 2,13 nodes, chemo, rad, recurrence in liver and bones.) I don't want cancer to define me. But, it's hard to forget about it with all these damn doctor's appointments! Thanks for your "real" post.

Just needed to post this...Accidently got onto the Stage 4 forum. Started reading and could not beliefve the number of young (under 40) women there are on there. I cried at many of their storied, they are all so very strong in the face of such adversity. I left the forum feeling inspired and so very grateful for my stage 1 status.
I know we are get so tired and frustrated at the treatments, the surgeries, etc. Just wanted to remind us all that in the BC war, we are lucky and should continue to pray not only for each other, but those of us who's future isn't so clear.
Much love to my stage 1 sisters.

Mimi, can you get TDI? California has it.

I liked my job, but we were all laid off.

Has anyone heard from Granny or Ducky? Wondered how they weathered the storm....
-
I haven't heard from Granny since last night. Her internet is most likely down. She said her building has a generator. Don't know about Ducky - Hope they both weathered the storm.
-
Ducky just posted on another thread that she will be heading home tomorrow to see if she still has a home...this was two hours ago, so she is safe and sound
-
Thanks Michelle for the update on Ducky.
-
Renee will be praying for you. God will provide as long as you are listening and following.
-
I just heard from Grannydukes. She is doing fine and survived the hurricane. Internet and phone service is down in her area and does not know when service will be restored. She wanted me to let everyone know she is okay.

Granny glad you checked in.. and that you're doing OK. Rain is usually one of the worst parts of hurricanes that most people forget about. And the outer bands that reach way beyond the center can bring tons of rain. (((hugs))) to you!

So glad to know you're ok Granny!

So good to hear from you Granny. God has carried back to us unharmed.
Wanted to share somemore good news...Today I was declaired officially cancer free. Scans and blood all normal, yeah!!!

Welcome Michgreg7 to the club no one wants to be a member of. You really did not post your entire diagnosis profile and sometimes that helps in trying to be of help. There are lots of wonderful ladies here and are full of information, love & support. Sweetie, we all get moments of sadness, anger - you name it. This is the place to come to went you want to vent, cry, or even to laugh once in a while. We have all been through this and we do "get it." We are all here to help you through this journey.
-
I HAVE been holding my breath for a reply!! lol i have been crying for two days straight, cant seem to pinpoint one specific thing, thanks for reaching out! i can breathe a little now!!!
-
My dear wonderful and concerned sisters..............................I'M HERE AND JUST AS ORNARY AS EVER..............HAHAHAHAHA..............could not have made it without you guys..........I lucked out in 2 places..............God is good.....................my Pa. home did fantastic.......didn't even lose electricity, and no downed trees.......................
Went to the shore today................The house is fine, nothing happened..........the worst thing was too many leaves in the pool, and my son took care of that in about 2 1/2 hours.............I held my breath as we approached the house.....................My son was so funny......on the way down he said "your so concerned about the house and maybe there is nothing wrong"......
then he said........."however, knowing you Mom..........if there is nothing wrong you will say "see we took this 2 hour ride for nothing, since there was nothing wrong"...............I roared, because he was right, that is what I would have said................of course since he said it first, I dare not say it................It was a scary time, but it is over, and now I look forward to a very nice Labor Day Weekend...................Hey Granny, glad to hear your ok too................thanks ladies for all your prayers..........
-
love my STAGE 1 SISTAS xoxoxo.hugggggs K

Wonderful news Ducky
-
michgreg - this is a rollercoaster ride - it is a major jolt physically & emotionally so don't worry about trying to stop your tears as they do help relieve some of the anxiety & pressure. It can't hurt to tell your friends & family how you feel - that will help you firm up a support system you can lean on. We're always here where you can dump all your fears & ask questions to ones who've travelled the same road. You may be surprised how much it helps to share.
Martha

Michgreg:
Hugs to you! And it is ok to cry, it is normal to cry. let it out! So sorry you have to go through this.
Phyllis
-
Michgreg, Hugs to you. Let the feelings come, and then try to let them go :-) So sorry that you're here, where none of us want to be. I love to read the little tags that these wonderful ladies put in their diagnosis boxes. It helps me to find a way to think about things.
-
michgreg : as the other ladies said - welcome to the rollercoaster ride... I am a done with the worst part and I'm still having many ups and downs...but I have a great group of friends and medical staff to help me along the way... When you start radiation - go to the forums for radiation and find the nice group of ladies in the same month that you are being treated...you start bonding with all the ladies that are going through rads at the same time...
These ladies here are really great on comfort and encouragement too!! I couldn't have done this without them!
Ducky - I'm am so glad to hear you still have you houses!!! I'm so glad to see Granny and you in one piece :-)
-
michgreg ~ Oh, hon, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. My oldest daughter is only three years younger than you. It is such a young age to be thrown into this. I hope you have a wonderful family or a special friend to help you, to hold your hand, to hold you, period. We will be here for you whenever you need us.
As Martha (mostlymom) said, please check out the Rads threads, it will help you alot. I did 33 tx (treatments) & it wasn't that bad. Became a bummer to go everyday, but I did it and you can, too.
You said you sabotoged your courage, for one thing. You are, and will be, much stronger than you think. Dig deep, sweetie, it's there. We found it & you will, too. It's a scary, damn scary, time... take a deep breath. I wish I was there to give you a very BIG HUG, my cyber one will have to do.
And as has been said, crying will help relieve the pressure & anxiety. It is okay to cry & to scream out loud if you need to. (maybe use a pillow for the yelling -
ha-ha ~ don't want to scare the neighbors!)
Ask anything you want, nothing is off limits. We are here for you. {{{big hugs}}}
ducky & K ~~~~~ yay, so happy to hear from you & that you have weathered the storm.
