I'm still here, up in Dogtown (Gloucester), anyone remember that old Harry Chapin song? (guess I'm showing my age
). Ya'll decide if you want to head up here, let me know when, where (picnic, restaurant) I'll make a few suggestions and am happy to make arrangements. One suggestion, there is a great seafood restaurant, The Lobster Pool, right on Folly Cove in North Gloucester. It 's very authentic rustic, casual, overlooks Ipswich Bay with spectacular views to NH, has picnic tables outside, right on the water and is BYOB. So it's a nice combo of both restaurant and picnic! Great Lobster, etc.... If it's a rainy day I'd suggest a restaurant right off 128 called Lobsta Land. To the casual observer it looks like a tourist trap but actually, despite it's average decor, it's well known and loved by locals for it's great fresh seafood, moderate prices and large portions. If you want to do a picnic and BYO food, I know some amazing spots!
If ya'll don't want to travel this far I'm happy to meet where ever it's most convenient.
Happy 4th everyone, looks like a great weekend!
don't know why this post has grayed out italics, can't make it go away ;-(

Yawl decide if you want to head up here, let me know when, where (picnic, restaurant) I'll make a few suggestions and am happy to make arrangements. One suggestion, there is a great seafood resturant, The Lobster Pool, right on Follly Cove in North Gloucester. It's very causual and authentic rustic, overlooks Ipswich Bay with spectacular views to NH. Has picnic tables outside, right on the water and is BYOB. So it's a nice combo of restaurant and picnic. Great lobster, etc... If it's turns out to be a rainy day there are several other options.
How about a consensus of where and when, ladies? The next few Saturday's after the 4th are 7/10, 17, 24 and 31.
Gloucester is about 50 minutes north of Boston via Rt. 93 or 1 and then 95/128.

Yes! I would love to see everyone again and my sistas that I haven't seen. All I need is a date and an address to set my GPS to get me there and I can drive. I can fit 4 in my PT cruiser. Any Saturday if fine with me.

-
I can do Saturday July 10th, anyone else. I would love to check out Glosta, the place sounds great! I'm there. That's all I need as well, where, when and I already know the why! I say, let's do it!!!! Hope everyone had a great July 4th, saw the fireworks live, made me feel lucky to be alive.

I don't think this weekend looks like a go? Any thoughts Glosta, maybe next weekend? Anyone else on board? -
Hello everyone,
I'm just going to put this out there because you never know. Is anyone interested in being involved in a suppport group at Beth Isreal, it's run by the Chief of social work (Oncology) Hester Hill. She is the auther of a highly acclaimed book called "After Breast Cancer" and a book soley based for newly diagnosed women. She is also a breast cancer survivor (twice). She has been in this field for over 30 years. I thought I would at least try, ya never know until you try. PM me if you're interested, thank you all and stay cool!
-
I will need a few weeks notice for a get together just name the place and date. I was in charge of the first one, someone else can have a turn. Again, I can drive 4 to the get together.
-
Nothing fancy, a cute little lobster shack is nice.
-
OR we can take=out and go to a beach with picanic tables, like Yogi Bear says.

Hello everyone,
I'm all for a few weeks notice. Okay, roll call. Deb is in, Glostagirl, me. I can also do the carpool thing and a Lobster shack sounds good to me. I thought I had the 10th free, Can we put the suggestion out there again.
Anyone up for lunch before the summer ends.
Please pass on the suggestion of forming a support group to anyone who is interested. I thought I would put it out there. PM me if interested. After treatment meetings are not to popular I know. I'd settle for a lobster dinner though. Hope everyone is having a good summer and has AC through this heatwave.

Hi all
Just found this thread. Now I am homesick. I was in Gloucester for the 4th. Love the avatar, Glostagirl. We went to Good Harbor beach. I grew up in Rockport. Family is still in Rockport and Gloucester. I live in ME now. The Lobster Pool is fantastic and you can't beat the view. If I was going to be in town, I would join you. Have fun.

haltsaluteatx,

Okay so it looks like Glosta or Winthrop. Glostagal I can give you my phone number via PM and maybe we can get this party happening or rather (Nice relaxing lunch by any city by the bay)
Deb, if you want you can let the other ladies know if you have some number, it would be nice to meet everyone, seems like for the most part, not many New Englanders online. Have a good week to all!!!!
-
Hi all,
Maybe we can try to get together before the summer ends? The potential of meeting up with one another for lunch is looking a little grim. In any case hope everyone is having a good week! CH
-
I agree, certainly doesn't seem to be much interest for a summer meet.
Chasinghope, the Hester Hill support group sounds great, I've heard good things about her. Wish I lived closer.
Nice to hear from you haltsaluteatx, glad you got home for the 4th! It was a beautiful weekend.
-
Welcome Halt!!!
Love Maine, it's such a different way of life, a little less hectic and the seafood is outstanding!
Deb, Glosta, we tried, we tried!!! (looks like it's been us keeping the thread alive)
(((((((Giving everyone on this thread and the Boston thread itself a much needed hug))))
Hmm....how bout meeting on a park bench near any ocean and I'll bring the lobsta rolls in potato salad?
Well, lets keep it going for August, who is ever interested PM me and hopefully I can be the catalyst to get something started before we say goodbye to the summer. I'm going to keep hope alive
-
Maybe if we start PMing everyone on this thread we may get some response.
-
Well, I'd love to be part of getting together. Are we thinking weekend or weekday get together? And where? Gloucester? I'm not familiar with that area at all.
