Woohooooooooo Ruth, fabulous news and hope you enjoyed your well deserved treat. Wonderland so glad to hear you are doing better. Karen it's a great milestone to celebrate I love gift certificates to spas, nothing better than a good spa day, when my next door neighbor went to Michigan last summer I watered her garden and collected her mail and she gave me $100 gift card to where I go for pedicures, that was one of the best 'thank you's ' ever.

Yesterday I did a double header with Body Pump and Body Combat, and tonight I went to Zumba and between Tango and Burlesque I've thrown my back out - my Zumba guy throws in all different styles and tonight I got rather carried away

    Forgot to say welcome Susan

Welcome Susan! I am a "sometimes" poster, but a daily reader. However, I get motivation from these women! I was not much of an exerciser during chemo, even though I was prior to diagnosis. Chemo hit me like a brick wall. But, I will be a year out in June and feel great now. Never thought I would when I could not walk to the kitchen without sitting down. After chemo, I pushed myself to a little more each day. I am just about to where I was pre diagnosis (surgery, chemo....) am going to a Walk Away 4 mile class later today. Off and on, doing Zumba and riding my bike, along with weights.

Tonight is packing for a trip to Virginia Beach to spend time with my son's family. Excited! Kids are 1, 3 and just turned 6 year old. Soooo adorable! Am teaching Patoo how to give my cat an oral antibiotic tonight!!! Should be interesting - for both of them. My poor kity has a UTI. :(

Ruth, Happy dance! I had my 3 month oncologist appointment today and bloodwork was good. Tumor markers down! Praise God!!!

Have fun with the grandkids, sunshine. Congratulations on your checkup!

I tried out the new POUND class this morning. You do exercises with plastic drumsticks. Very fun, and a good workout. You can google what it looks like if you want. I went to Barre tonight. Very fun also & a great leg workout.

Way behind in posts. Wonderland. . .poison ivy is miserable. Hugs! Dd and I both got a huge dose of it volunteering years ago cleaning up a school yard. We had systemic reactions -- kept breaking out everywhere and had long doses of steroids. Since them I get spots if I even look at the stuff. Had a bunch cleared from our yard last year and now get it sprayed.

Katcar. . .I'm right with you on MRIs. Have your MO give you something to take beforehand. Best wishes.

I have taken the Fitbit craze to a new level. My Surge was not counting all my steps, even though it's great for other exercise. So I now have a Zip and wear both. They seem to be competing with each other for which has the highest step count at any given time. I have now bought 5 Fitbits in 9 months. I really need to get a life.

Exercise today was walking at the Botanical Gardens. My co-worker and I also walk for 25-30 each day around lunch.

Sounds good to me, Karen......we can be very eccentric together! What day is your birthday? My dad and DS are both May birthdays. I am always jealous because you all get the emerald birthstone.

Wonderland, glad to hear you're on the mend. That is a lot of steroids. Scottiemom, what an awful experience you had, too. As for the Fitbit, you deserve a badge for most number of Fitbits. :))

Which reminds me to put mine on now or it won't count my 250+ steps. I like that it counts floors but I have to keep converting to meters. I guess I am exercising my brain.

Ruth, congrats on 9 years! We were diagnosed the same year! I would love to try pounding.

Congrats, mysunshine, for the good report! Have fun with the little ones!

Played squash with DD and her friend yesterday. DD and I are off to the gym in a bit. Thinking of getting her a Fitbit, too. Next week school starts and she'll be very sedentary again. She is not interested in organized sports or group classes. Maybe I'll try those personalized Fitbit workouts for her.

Congrats on your 9 years cancer free, Ruth. I hope its the exercise that kept you healthy and I'll follow in your footsteps. Pun intended.

Welcome Susan. I had the "knocked flat" reaction with chemo that would start about two hours after and last for 12 days. But keep it up if you can. If not, we'll be here when you are done!

I didn't get my usual catch up on exercise last weekend due to rain, so now I'm trying to get started again. Walked 25 minutes but chillier than I dressed for, so I came home.

Very brisk here too but the evening sun lured me out for a 30-min walk. Haven't posted since Sun morning so logging 15.3 mi walked (32,412 steps) for the past four days. Glad I didn't accidentally hit the reset button on my pedometer.

Happy 10th Karen and Happy 9th Heidihill & Ruth! Wow it must be Spring, the WWW ladies aren't wearing hats and one brave soul is in shorts!

Scottie: Poison ivy is the pits, isn't it? I'm still getting over mine.

Hi All. Just a quick note. I mowed for 90 minutes today and then walked/ran in the early evening.

POUND and house cleaning. DH is out of town all weekend at a softball tournament so I 'made' him dust before he left. Apparently his subconscious was not thrilled with the job as he knocked something off the wall which left a big gouge and broke the globe off an antique lamp! No, I still did not say, "Oh forget it, I'll do it." Ha!

Good for you, Ruth! That's called strategic incompetence and men are pretty good at it. Women usually fall for it, myself included. For example, I prefer to wash the dishes. IDK if DH is bad at it on purpose or just careless, the net effect is the same: he cooks and I clean up. Works for me. :-)

Was on the road early this morning for a business trip so bonus got home early. Nice afternoon to strap on the Walkman and walk 45 mins to side one of Disco Classics. Perfect counterpart to a lot of sitting, in the car and at the meeting - ugh. Logging 3.5 miles for the day.

Only 4 more weeks still I'm done for the summer. DD#2 graduates high school 2 weeks from today. DS turns 27 in one week and then leaves till at least the end of Sept for a job with the National Forest Service in Rapid City S.D. The second week he is there he is taking some sort of fire course. He is still looking for a permanent position. I know he would like to end up back in Denver or at least in Colorado. He has been gone before for 6 months (3 times) but has not flown the nest permanently yet. I'm sure he would like to have his own place, but his bedroom in the basement is pretty much away from everyone except the twice a year DD#1 and SIL come to visit.

Nothing on the agenda tomorrow...calendar is "empty"...sure hope I'm productive!!! Just need to clean, grocery shop, cook for Shabbat and go see my mom.!! Yes that is something, but at least no meetings or whatever else!! A gf and her daughter who is a good friend of DD#2 is coming for Shabbat dinner..her husband is out of town, so she invited herself to our house. It will be nice and its not like "company".

Its been a good walking week...nice weather, but rain is in the forecast for the week-end. Averaging 15K/day this week.....so very good walking week. Need to get moving in the morning with a walk before I get busy!!

Karen, tremendous walking week, I would say!

Biked up the hill with DD for this wonderful view, then biked down on a single trail with lots of obstacles and roots. Unfortunately I was not up to the technical challenge and took a mud bath.

On my iPad Heidi there is no image Good on you Ruth for keeping 'Mum' on alittle breakage, tell him his duties can be shifted from dusting to vacuuming

I have been crazy busy helping a friend who has the same business as I do, he is going in for hernia surgery today and had a massive project to finish as he won't be able to lift anything for a while, so that meant I was doing my own work at night, then last night when I was all set to go straight to the gym from my office my #1 client had an urgent project so I ended up working and missed my first class but ran to the gym in time to get in a 30 minute Grit class then back to await my project, which of course being a rush job had a massive mistake on the cover so now I get to rip off the first page and staple on a new front page and of course 2 people had signed off on the mistake - you know what they say 'haste makes waste'

I mowed part of the lawn this evening, 35 minutes, and then walked the dog 20. I'm sure that will be my exercise tomorrow too. The never ending lawn mowing...

Haste makes waste indeed Cheryl. I'm frantically trying to meet a deadline at work - spent two hours linking a spreadsheet to another spreadsheet. I got back from lunch and I thought OMG does that say filename 5-3-16? Of course it did. The one I intended to link was the version done 5-5-16. Had to start all over. I'll be working this weekend!

My boast is that I wore out my bicycle!!!

Yes, it was salvageable, but I am describing it now as a "custom built using my old frame". This means: new WHEELS, new tires and tubes, new brake cables and pads, new shifters/brake levers, new cassette (rear gear assembly), new handlebar tape. and completely rebuilt in every way conceivable. I also have a new saddle, but won't test until after my metric century tomorrow.

I took it for a 15 mile spin today, and it does indeed ride like a new bicycle. I took a wheelbarrow load of $$$ into the shop yesterday to pay for all this work. Total was equal to what I initially spent for the bicycle, but Bianchi doesn't make entry level bicycles with this quality components anymore. The equivalent would cost 2x what I spent, and I shouldn't need anything this major for another 8 years.

I still could use another pair of cycling shorts/knickers and also shoes. At least my sport isn't golf!!!

Gorgeous weather, so the ride should be a joy, not a trial. Early AM, as need to be there at 8 so leaving ~6:30.

Wish me luck with my new custom-built wheels! - Claire

I subbed yesterday, changed over the closets as it is apparently spring), and have 4 bags of stuff to bring to goodwill (I don't need so many 'dress up' clothes anymore), and did 15 minutes of abs. Just did some toning & might go over to the YMCA and ride a bike for awhile because one of my heels is sore and kind of puffed up ???? so want to baby it over the weekend.

Good job on the bike, Claire!

    Happy Saturday!

    Hi all,

It never rains but pours? Boyfriend was in a motorcycle accident this week--narrowly missed being mowed over by a truck that cut him off, but he took a major beating anyway. He is very lucky to be alive after having to lay the bike down at 45 miles/hour to slow it down (brakes not sufficient), and then unfortunately, he somersaulted over the front of the bike. He is going to be laid up for a while. He is my walking buddy, and I cannot walk around the countryside alone safely, so I am doing squat for exercise but gardening and some theraband exercises. Grateful to the angels who were looking out for him.

Claire - congrats for wearing out your bike? Must be nice to have it all spiffed up.

Karen - you are averaging a lot of walking! I have mileage envy ;-).

Scottiemom - you crack me up with the Fitbits. I have yet to buy my first one--so lame of me. I also postponed my tests--going up to Texas next week to get another opinion on ovaries--out or not. They will run any tests that I need there.

Oh, no, Katcar! So sorry about your boyfriend. Is he at home? I wish him a speedy and full recovery. As bad as that is, thankfully he is still with you!

Enjoy your "new" bike, Claire. I bet its a treat!

I mowed 35 minutes and did some trimming of bushes.

OMGosh ((katcar)) how scary! Thank goodness for those guardian angels.

Had fun at the gathering. It was a "coin shower" i.e. give us money not stuff. I could have written a check but took the invitation literally. Dug for quarters in the change jar and filled a pretty little potpourri holder found in an unpacked box of treasures and never used. Had a moment of covetousness then thought OK I've gotten along without this for how long? Let it go! Had a nice nap when got home then a leisurely stroll in the late afternoon sun. Forgot pedo so not posting any steps. Will more than make up for it tomorrow, when I'm working as an ad-hoc restaurant hostess so will be putting in a lot of steps. Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there! ♥

Katcar, Glad your boyfriend was not severely hurt and he will be able to recover. Motorcycles scare me!

I have been at my son's this week with 3 young children - ages 1, 3 and just turned 6. VERY busy! On the Ho always. No wonder my daughter-in-law is in such good shape! I am going home to rest!

Claire, Wish I could cycle as far as you do!

Yikes, Katcar!! Yes, he is fortunate to escape alive. I won't do 45 mph on my bicycle for that reason. Sounds like he will be just fine.

"New" bicycle performed just great today. It's now a joy to ride, and feels a lot more secure than just one week ago. So money well invested. I have another beer glass for my collection.

I think 64.5 miles of lots of hills is a sufficient test. The most glorious day as I suspected it would be. I did over 2400' of vertical climbing.

Next stop is the bath as you probably don't want to be downwind from me about now.

I am now fit enough for the ride to Portland, but will at least 2 more rides of similar length between now and then.

So feel quite proud of myself. BTW - I will be doing about one third of this route when I do the ride to Vancouver BC in August. - Claire

Katcar.....so scary about your boy friend....wishing him a speedy recovery.

Feeling emotional tonight and not sure why....well its one of 2 reasons.....either cuz its mother's day tomorrow and that mom is not doing well, she continues to decline with this horrid, horrid neurological disease that she has....I will go to brunch with her where she lives but it makes me sad that I can no longer bring her to my house...I had her over to the house 2 weeks ago and it was very difficult for her. Its take 2 of us to get her into the house....She pretty much can no longer walk, so we used a wheelchair..generally she uses a motorized scooter, but too hard to get into the car and use in my house...she would bang up all the walls if I could get it in the hosue.... Just so hard to see her decline!! And tomorrow I turn 60....and I'm happy to be 60...10 years ago I was so anticipating turning 50...we were going to take a trip for my b'day cuz I had the week off....well I turned 50, but not how I planned....I was bald and in the middle of chemo...I had my 3rd chemo 4 days before my birthday.....This time I didn't anticipate my b'day or make any plans....DH is 6 months older than me and friends threw him a 60th and for his 50th we made a big party....Well, here I am 10 years later and I'm NED!! What more could I ask for! My 2 Denver kids will celebrate mother's day and my b'day with me. Will also turn into a sort of b'day celebration for my son whose b'day is Thursday.....It will be a good day...now if I could only have a good cry!!!
