HILARIOUS Momine!!!!!
Mar, I have FOUR grandsons now so I "get" your interest in the new one. How exciting!!! Keep us posted and prayers for an uneventful delivery!!!!
-
so sorry to hear about the loss of cmbear. While I did not know her she will always live on in the thoughts and memories of those that did have the good fortune to know her
As far as spoofed is concerned - lol - I meant spotted!! Lol
-

Back from Seattle. Had a blast! Here's a shot of 4 of us at the Chuhily Museum at the base of the Space Needle.
I'm the one in blue with the short white hair, 2nd from left.
-
That's a good looking group of 60-ishes, Eph!
Is Marlegal a 3x grandma yet?
chachamom, That is the absolute best way of passing a cancerversary...actually forgetting all about it. Congrats, and keep on going!
-
Thanks E. This picture represents all high school culture groups. On the far left, in red (our school color) is the head cheerleader, our fearless leader who is a wonderful organizer of high school reunions & 60 birthday bashes. Then there's me-in high school I went from being the "good" girl type to the major stoner by senior year! To my right is the band geek who I went to grade school with & is an absolute hoot!!!! I hadn't spent time with her since girl scouts!! and last, but not least, is the brain-iac! Plus she was the principal's kid! Tortured teenage years! Successful career, marriage & very lovely (I didn't know her real well in school for some reason
-
Eph are you still a stoner....I'm nosy
-
If I thought I could get away with it.
I live right next door to a high school & my daughter (19, almost 20) pitched a fit when I mentioned medical marijuana 5 yrs ago, so I don't think that will work. But I have the utmost respect for those who choose to indulge. I really see no difference between cannabis & alcohol as far as impairment issues go. Edited to add: probably should have just pled the 5th
-
Eph....Or move to Colorado...
-
Eph, get a new avatar!! You look wonderful in those glasses!!
-
Eph--Great pic!You all look lovely! What is the yellow and red thing behind
you?It's intriguing! -
Native, that is GLASS!!!!!! That museum is probably the only thing on my bucket list!!! AND I`ve driven through Seattle a couple of time and never remembered.
-
I am so excited! I will be volunteering with the Canadian cancer society as an outreach volunteer! This will give me the opportunity to share information about cancer as well as my own story!
Whoop!
Hockey starts again tonight ! Can't wait!
It may sound silly but I feel so good sometimes that I get scared that the chemo is not doing anything. So far SEs have been minimal thankfully but it makes me wonder
Silly where our thoughts go!
Tonight we leave for Niagara Falls. Going to the shaw festival Friday, stomp on Sunday and we must hit buffalo!! I told DH that sometimes I feel like I must live in a bubble while going through chemo.
He has encouraged me to go and said that it will be good for us as I have been getting depressed again lately. So off we go.
Have a good day all!!!!
-
EPH, great picture! I was lucky enough to see the Chuhily exhibit at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden before we moved. It was amazing seeing his glass work in such a natural environment! We went late in the afternoon so we got to stay and see it at night. Beautiful!!! And a great picture of all of you! Maybe you should talk to your daughter about her judgement of using medical marijuana. I have a friend that has her medical card and swears by it. I haven't tried it but have thought about it. Really, which is worse, taking a pill to relieve my anxiety and help me sleep or taking a few puffs? Just sayin!

On my own, i hadn't touched pot for 15 years. But a friend of a friend gave me some excellent brownies for chemo, etc. And, once in a while, if i am really hurting, i do taste a small sample, and it reduces pain greatly, and, motivates me to do more things around the house than i would otherwise do. i keep it in the freezer, and take it medicinally. i am thinking about getting a card, and my girl friend already gave me an address. so there.
-
I was told that no one at my hospital would approve a medical marijuana license. But everybody knows somebody. Lol
I haven't had any issues with SEs but can't drink alcohol so........
Lol
-
Barbe-I can not even beginning to express how in awe I was at that museum - definitely worth being on your bucket list. I wasn't even familiar with Chuhily until a conversation between you (and I think Mad Beach). you were talking about him. So when I was told that the exhibit is there at the base of the space needle I made sure to go. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!
-
OOOoooh, that makes me want to go SO bad!!! My brother lives in Vancouver and my sister in Portland, so we fly into Vancouver and drive down to her. We really should do it again with a stop-off in Seattle..... I needed to hear how amazing it was. I think it was a display in Arizona or some other desert area where Mad Beach and I were talking about someone`s pics.

I was out at the Dale Chihuly Garden of Glass a couple years ago, as a side leg to my Alaskan cruise. I thought I had written about it on this thread, but double checked and found that it was on another (and I had posted the pic below.) I didn't go for the paid admission, only seeing what I could from the perimeter.
It wasn't the cheapskate in me that kept me from going in, but I had limited time that day. Many years ago I saw a whole museum exhibit of his works (many of them smaller than more recent pieces.) My then-toddler looked at one orb shaped one and exclaimed, "Baaaaaaw" (ball) and reached out. Well, everything was roped off so there was no chance that my kid could try to bounce it, thankfully, but it was good for a laugh. His work is far and wide now. There was an exhibit in Phoenix, which is probably the one you mean, Barbe. The Dallas Art Museum has a ginormous permanent suspended installation. I think his work is fabulous!
-
I think the Dallas Arboretum had an exhibit in summer/fall 2012.
-
Eli, no baby yet. I am still staring at my phone during all waking hours waiting for 'the' text or call.
Chihuly - my first exposure was the ceiling at Bellagio in Vegas. For those who have been in the lobby of the Bellagio, that's Chihuly glass on the ceiling. Amazing in person. Can't post pic from iPad.
Eph, so glad you enjoyed the trip and reconnecting
Stay tuned for happybaby news soon...I hope!
-
I remember that E. that's probably what I was remembering. Whatever, whoever, I had never heard of the guy before the conversation on BCO. I was very excited to go see the works. INCREDIBLE!
-
Don't forget...the annual ASCO conference is this week. The flood of articles are already out there. Nothing really grabbed me & I'm too lazy to recap all I've been reading BUT those interested can just search ASCO 2014 to see what's up. Big Tykerb news (not good,) if that applies to any of you.
-
on the new avatar pic, Eph. Good call, Barbe. (Just don't ever prod me to retire the pink pooch. That will not happen.)
p.s. @those who sometimes do comment on it: Probably don't know what to make of the pic I currently have at the top, do you? It's my fanciful imaginings of my colonic bacteria! I can't really get more self-indulgent that, can I? Sorry.(*)
(*) Not really.
-
Eph - I agree - love the new glasses.
-
That thing is
GLASS?WOW!!!!!Football---sounds
like a great trip, have lots of fun!I wondered if the
Bellagio ceiling was by this artist you are all talking about.I remember being amazed by it. -
Native, yep, as per mar, that IS the guy!
Eph LOVE the new avatar! You could even crop it in closer. You look very dynamic and chique. Well done!
-
Have to add, elimar, I was one of the lucky ones who DID catch your `real`avatar a number of years ago. How many years ago was it when you posted your real pic for an hour or so?
-
Yes, there was an "alleged" picture once, maybe twice, on a thread anniversary. If you blinked, you missed it.
Speaking of missing it, I didn't get the memo that National Cancer Survivor's Day was June 1st. (For Americans anyway, you Canadians might still have a chance, I don't know.) Next year it is June 7th, mark your calendars.
Also, missed local Relay for Life. I guess I responded too late and never got more information.
Also, Spring. I missed it that too. It was three days long.
Q: How can you tell summer has arrived?
A: Elimar trades her hot tea for iced tea.
Speaking of cool treats, I have not mentioned my summertime addiction for Edy's Fruit Bars for at least two years. (That's because last year, the Oxaliplatin made cold send my throat into horrible spasms over anything remotely cool.) So, this may be old news but there are two new flavors this year, and now they are vegggie-fruit bars: Tangerine-Carrot and Strawberry-Rhubarb. The first one was a little too sweet, but yum! on the second. I noticed they label them as Edy's Outshine now. I hate to think that someone got a pay bump for that name suggestion, but I suppose it ceased being a fruit bar when they added the veggies.
