MIDDLE-AGED WOMEN 40-60ish

Hi all, I am in Florida for almost a week. I am down here for a wedding for my cousin's son.
I was thinking about how it was the same time as our Diana Rose, but it is actually Sat. I will definitely be thinking about your wedding while in the midst of this one. Live it up for us all, Diana!!!
It is nice to be in a warmer climate!!! Hopefully I will get rid of this cough and cold that has been trying to settle in my chest.

Mimi, Welcome! My kid is 21 and in her last year of college.
The fatigue was absolutely crashing for me at that point in treatment. I was a real trooper through most of it, recovered well from surgery and yadda-yadda. But I had a few months there after completing rads and starting femara, when I felt like I was in a slow-mo stupor. My solution was to keep moving. I would will myself to walk, walk, walk and then walk some more, even if it was at 1 mile an hour.
-
Congrats, Diana Rose
soon to be Brandis! -
Diana Rose - when I couldn't sleep last night I rolled over one time and thought OMG your wedding is soon. Hoped we would hear from you. Have a wonderful day with just the best memories.
MiMiL - hope you can get a day off or 2 interspersed. I worked full time too during rads (no chemo) but I must admit had no other life beyond work/BC treatment. DH was self sustaining and we existed on lots of grocery premade food. I barely remember those months except going to tx. As we can all attest there is life on the other side. Rest when you can. We're with you at your appointment. We have "pocket parties" for support and encouragement. I declare one for you which by my calculation should be today. Shall we bring yummy sustenance? What can we do to support you? Besides chocolate that is.
Are we planning a tropical party for tomorrow or a bridal shower for Diana Rose?
-
Oh, fun! We get to have two parties! Diana Rose, as you can tell we are all excited about your wedding. I can't wait to see the wedding dress that makes you feel like a princess - I love imagining that! I guess girls never grow out of some things.
Well Momine, I guess that website was a bust (no pun intended). It seems like a good idea but it appears to be lacking in execution. I suppose I'll go ahead and sign up - maybe expanding their membership will help but they certainly need to have a place for your treatment choices.
-
Congratulations Diana Rose!
-
PAR--TY, PAR--TY, PAR--TY!!!!
-
I'm eating crunchy Cheetos as we speak, in preparation!
-
Can we talk Eli into it????
Have you heard about the new Doritos snack at 7-11's in DC? Said to taste like fried mac/cheese.
-
friday...party...shower for DR, hurry Spring, whatever the reason, we need it and I'm in!
-
What ya say Eli shall we partay???
-
I need something sexy for the wedding night. Any ideas???? Stressed!!! first the mens tux were lost on the wrong ups truck and then came in with wrong sizes and stains. Trying to get that fixed today. OMG
-
Dianarose, That is a good middle-aged question. It's not like we are out to show as much square inch of skin as we can, right? Something more subtle, then. What about a silky/satiny gown? Or, if you have the legs for it, a skimpier length. You can also add a second sheer layer of some kind if he's the kind that thinks unwrapping is half the fun, or look for something with peek-a-boo lace to show that skin in a more demure and flattering way. Ultimately, get something that makes YOU feel sexy, and just go from there.
I'm no fashion expert...so, two days ago my DH mentions that since it is Valentine's week the holiday rule of not opening up any packages that might come to the house in his name. This led to questioning in my woo-woo voice, "Did you get me some candy? What could it be...a negligee?" Not missing a beat, he replies, "A negligee! Ha! On Valentine's Day, I don't want you to wear anything!" He's does have his funny side.
-
I know I can't expect one of these, but they sure look like tasty V-Day treats, don't they?
Maybe I'll get flowers. I'm not the kind to like cut flowers (that's what I keep a living, growing garden for) but the one time I can appreciate them is V-Day, since it is a drab, gloomy month in the middle of Winter. Roses don't last long, so I'd rather have something else.
I know my son, the one in grad. school and a now long distance relationship, did get his girl some FTD flowers. He's sweet. Not that he'd ever send his mom a bouquet. Or chocolates. Or card even. He's not that sweet.
-
so it's still breakfast time in my neck of the woods. I know I'm not getting any Valentine for anybody, including DD - cause she doesn't think that way. therefore, I'm ready to party. Here's the appetizer.
DianaRose, E's suggestion for a sexy for wedding night can be summed up with her statement-what makes YOU feel sexy should be operative! Like this
-
well, I don't know why that picture won't post-it's a yummy looking fruit platter!
-
Eli - I love carnations but they don't smell the way they used to. Not as spicy. Um gardenias too.
Diana Rose - I think something with satin ties/bows is sexy. Raises the anticipation. Now I expect all of you to have that song stuck in your heads.
MimiL - How did your appointment with your surgeon go yesterday? Did we make too much noise in your pocket - sorry I think I stepped on someone. Hope you can get some rest this weekend. Sleep, protein for healing and lube/lube and more lube for skin. Um chocolate my favorite too. Sorry Eli raspberries for Cheetos give me chocolate.
-
It's lunchtime (or close to it) How's this?
-
And since it's 5 o clock (or close to it) somewhere...
-
Luv - did you mean "Buttons & Bows"? I'm older than many of you so that's the one that's not stuck in my head.
-
Well MinusTwo that would work too. I was thinking of Anticipation esp. the Carly Simon version. HaHa says better known as the "ketchup" song.

Take you choice on Buttons and Bows. The Bob Hope clip says it won Academy Award for Best Song 1948.

Or Dinah Shore
-
Luv - thanks for the clips. I not too old to love Carly Simon.
Whatever the song - best wishes to DianaRose.

Diana Rose, a negligee with a robe over it....hint of skin showing but "all wrapped up". One item comes off and he'll have to work for the next one. Long......sexy, flowy, silky smooth. Now is NOT the time for cotton!! But, it doesn't have to be the most expensive gown in the store. You must be in a specialty store for this.... What colour do YOU think would work or him? Black is my fail-safe, but perhaps there is another colour that would surprise him. I have a STUNNING set that is gold with black lace and is just the cat's meow!!!! (I kept that one through my donations of my practical breast garbs) I also have a not-too-very sheer, so you're not quite sure if that's what you're really seeing sheer "shirt type" gown that is done in a deep peach. Don't know if you're a brunette or not, but when I tried this one on I turned MYSELF on!!!!!
-
flowers for some lovely ladies!
-
Sorry to be so late coming in, but I still say a party is in order for all the (sorry Eli) crap weather most of us have had!!!! So here are my offerings. Diana, first and foremost I second all the suggestions made here by the ladies for the wedding night - do what's comfortable for you, and "sexy" is how you swing it babe - has nothing to do with having the best body around by others' standards.
So...for the party which I decreed! You all know George is my fav, so he has to be here, serving us. And it has to be warm, and a beach has to be involved. And ... oh yes ... our favorite food! And for others who want more....more food and drink
Love you all on this Valentine holiday which frankly I think is the most commercial of all, topping even Christmas. Hub and I boycot it every year! I choose to celebrate our anniversary in style, not a day which Hallmark and the flower/chocolate empire decided for me!
-
Hurrying through & saw Dianarose.
Have a beautiful wedding & honeymoon. Look forward to some pictures. -
Dianarose--The tux
got got lost?Holy Moly!Talk about stress. Is there a local tux rental place that can
step in? -
Dianarose...Congratulations!!! Wishing you a wonderful ceremony with lots of wonderful memories.
-
Maybe Dianarose will come by and TOSS HER BOUQUET in this thread, and it will be lucky for one of the available Middies.
My cyber spirit is at the wedding (and tapping my glass with silverware.) I heard all don't have this custom though.
Cheers to you both, Dianarose!

Cheers!
