Eph: thats is true my dishwasher lasted only three years and i had to buy new...i was pissed when repairman told me the same thing.
-
marthah, Good to hear from you, as you get close to your 3-year milestone. Keep moving forward. As far as threads go, I know there is the huge (and hugely informative) "Bottle O' Tamoxifen" but there are many smaller threads that might have more immediate answers for you. I think the "I Want My Mojo Back" thread is still up and running and it seemed to address a lot of the sex issues. Some of your mojo issues probably stem from your Tamox. issues. However, if you are one of the many who take something to mediate the SEs of Tamox. (like an SSRI or SNRI,) those drugs can be mojo killers too. Good Luck finding a balance to protecting against cancer and keeping it hot between the sheets, and not just all hot flashes.
-
"Hot between the sheets" . What's that mean? An electric blanket?
-
Eph, a hot water bottle works too
-
ha ha ha "hot between the sheets"
I saw my PCP today, she was trying to figure out if I have a cold or the flu I guess. She asked if I had any chills, or did I get hot and sweaty. I promptly had a hot flash and said you betcha! So I am back on my inhaler and have to stay out of the shop for a few days. I hate when she says I "have" to take care of myself. Oh well.
-
mac, by her saying you "have" to, it takes the responsibility OFF you instead of you having to decide whether to make it. Don't think of it as a lack of control, think of it as a "mommy command".
-
uh oh, I feel a rebellion coming on!
-
Did someone say rebellion?
I'm in a mood today. It is the cabin fever doing me in.
Maybe I should just sit back and be happy that I'm not doing the 6 1/2 week gauntlet of rads right now.
That's how I "Look A Little On The Sunny Side." (The link is a Kink's song.)
I'm ALL British Invasion/Beatles 50th Anniv. right now.
Feeling righteously middle-aged.
-
GO CAT GO! Love the topper. I am very excited to watch the Beatles special on Sunday!
-
Great page topper El! (Beatles marquee)
Hot between the sheets? Only if I take the freshly dried sheets and put them right back on the bed!!
Have a good week ladies. Can we do a Spring countdown please??? Maybe a party next Fri night? Haven't had a good Middies party for a while. Tropical drinks and breezes theme sounds divine...whay say ye?
-
The Beatles: How well do you know the Fab Four? Take the quiz
If you are not engaged at the moment with getting to know your cancer, then you will want to assess your middle-aged cred and see how you fare with this quiz on The Beatles. I am thoroughly ashamed not to have scored higher than a 72%. I'm probably kicked out of the fan club now.
-
I love the idea of a spring countdown party!
and I quit the Fab 4 quiz, was getting a "0"!
-
Love a spring countdown too. I could go for something tropical.
I failed The Beatles quiz - 36%. My mom - and I may be repeating myself here - called us in from playing to sit us down in front of Ed Sullivan. Said this was history making. I don't know how she knew but I do assume they watched Ed Sullivan every Sunday night. I was 11. I was never much into pop culture having no older sisters or relatives near. I remember having to pick in 8th grade some pop song to do a jump rope routine to and thank goodness the other members of group picked one.
-
Yikes! I got 40%! I didn't know all the history about hits and albums in England. Oh, well. I've always been a Stones fan myself.
Has anyone heard of this site: esperity
Supposedly, you can connect with someone with your exact same diagnosis and compare treatments. I haven't joined, just wondering if any of you guys have or know about it.
I was looking something up about breast cancer screening risks. Look what the National Cancer Institute wrote about the risks of a mammogram:
During a mammogram, the breast is placed between 2 plates that are pressed together. Pressing the breast helps to get a better x-ray of the breast. Some women have pain or discomfort during a mammogram.
No, ya think? Was this written by a man who needs to have a mammogram on his testicles? Or on that machine I'm going to invent to check for testicular cancer? Do you think the media would tell men to have a test-o-gram or risk dying? Ugh! Don't mind me, I've got to get mine in 3 days and just preparing for battle. You know, "we need another shot" or "you have some architectural changes here". But that's from my last biopsy! "Well, you need another biopsy to verify it's from the last biopsy." Nooooo!
-
I got 44%-but I'm tired
-
Heartn, I checked it out. The medical info is quite limited. It does not ask about chemo, for example, nor about stage or ER/Herceptin status. For me, it pulled a bunch of people up with LCIS, DCIS etc. (as well as a couple with ILC) But it may be useful. I will futz with it again later.

R.I.P. Shirley
From Wiki: In 1972, Temple was diagnosed with breast cancer. The tumor was removed and a modified radical mastectomy
performed. Following the operation, she announced it to the world via
radio, television, and a February 1973 article for the magazine McCall's. In doing so, she became one of the first prominent women to speak openly about breast cancer. -
sad to hear about Shirley's passing. What a great actress and I loved her movies. Bless her for speaking about her own BC. May she R.I.P.
Spring party sounds great!!!!!!
-
I sucked at the quiz too! I'm fine with that though, I still love loving them!
Shirley Temple...been remembering her movies all day. Spent many happy hours watching her on Sat afternoons. Sad there's been no one at all like her since.
See you Fri night for our party!
-
Eph3_12- I scored a 44 too. I didn't know some of the England stuff oh well I still love them!!
-
dont feel bad gals, when i was a kid, i did see the debut on my grandma's television, cause we didnt have one at our house, and i loved them, and eventually knew every word to everyone of their songs- prolly still know a lot of them. on trivia? though? i only got 57%, and usually missed when i second guessed myself. oh well! and i keep meaning to find a copy of shirley temple blacks autobiography, it must have been hugely hard to be a grown up especially after being such an adored child star. hollywood is usually not kind to them. Peace out!
-
I love that we are on 888!
-
Hi ladies! I have been lurking here for a while...you seem like a great bunch of gals. You all seem to have a warped sense of humor like me! I am 58, married for a long, long time
, have one daughter 22 who still lives at home while she works part time and pursues a Masters in Library Science...hopefully that will still be a lucrative career by the time she is finished. I have finished all the nasty treatments, chemo and rads and have just started on hormone therapy-Femara, not sure how I feel about that yet-still really fatigued from all the treatments and have a bunch of arthritis so the Femara probably won't be my friend, but a necessary evil. I work full time in an office and worked through most of my treatments-hence the mind numbing fatigue, but believe me I use the chemo brain card whenever needed ha ha. I love reading about your adventures, I have learned a lot here and hope you join this lively thread and make contributions every so often. Cheetos-okay, personally chocolate is my all time favorite snack!
-
MimiL55, a warm welcome to you for coming out of lurkerdom to make your first post on this thread! The fatigue is something that can linger, but you should notice a gradual return of your energy. You may not notice the difference from day to day, but as each week passes you should feel a bit better. That can be helped along if you are getting good protein intake as your body tries to repair all the cellular damage. Did you have the 6 & 1/2 wks. of rads? How did your skin do? Yes, Cheetos are tops, but at this time of year, with Val. Day right around the corner, most of us fall into the chocolate camp. Timing is everything.

-
I'd say I've braved the fire (more than once) & have been built through the refining process! Cool picture!
-
el, I did 28 treatments no boosts since no tumor to hit. had some blackness & peeling near the end but healed pretty quickly. I know it will get better. some days with working full time it just gets too much. first post treatment with surgeon tomorrow. wish me luck. thanks for starting this thread!

Just poking in to say a quick Hi to everyone. Wedding is Sunday and tons of stuff to still do. Miss everyone and talk to you soon..... Diana Rose, soon to be Diana Rose Brandis
-
OOOoooh, Diana Rose!! So very, very exciting!!! We will all be there in spirit I'm sure!! All the best to you both, sweetie!
-
Dianarose, I know you will hear from the others here but I have to say thank you for thinking of us now and, of course, our thoughts will be right there with you on Sunday. I mean RIGHT THERE for the vows, the kiss, the toast, and the dance, all of it; then our thoughts will give you a little privacy on the wedding night. You never mentioned the honeymoon plans, but we do hope to hear all about that and the wedding when you return. Joyous love hugs to you Mrs. DRB! Oh, and you better include a picture of the cake. Don't know if you have a hand in its creation or not, but I just know it will have to be fabulous.
Barbe, Was that you giving a warm welcome to MimiL? Good one!
MimiL, I am sorry that your work has you near collapse. I do know that lots have worked thru' their treatment, but even those superwomen took off a few sporadic days. Were you able to have any days off during this?
