Eph, eish circumstances were different this year. I'd drive up and sit a spell with you at your brothers. Instead we are creeping home at a whopping 2-8 mph. at this pace we won't be home for Thanksgiving.
speaking as one who should be over BC by now, I am reminded everytime I look in the mirror that things don't always happen to someone else.
-
Wishing all of the American gals a wonderful Thanksgiving full of happiness, love, family and friends!
May your day be bright and your horn of plenty be plenty full! -
Had a lovely pic to attach but it doesn't seem to want to stick. -
Same back atcha Barsco and to all my friends on here. I appropriated this from somewhere on here, apologies to the author and if I've used this already. Plan to the a "calorie overachiever" today and pay for it tomorrow. I have the sweet potatoes roasted and ready to dress and put in oven. Fruit salad I made last night. My assignments from SIL. We pick up DD around 10:45 for arrive at DB's around 11:45. Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. -
Thank you for the warm welcome ladies! I look forward to getting to know you all better. Have a wonderful THANKS GIVING! -
lol! A calorie overachiever!!!! luvmygoats🐓🎉
I'll second Barsco HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!!! Safe traveling for those that are! Xoxoxox Jo -
I won't get to say this for another 79,000 years: Happy Thanksgivukkah!
A very special convergence this year...so "gobble tov!"
---------------------------------------------------------
And for those celebrating just one holiday... -
"gobble tov" - nicely done Eli.
I just heard on the radio this afternoon how Thanksgiving and Hannukah have fallen on the same day - first time since 1988! -
thank you ladies for being my constant support (this is my first time posting on this discussion board). I come and read this board everyday, and reading your post has help me very much. Thank you for sharing and caring. -
Ms. Trouble, your handle fits so well here, lol, welcome!
I saw the Thanksgivukah yesterday and it cracked me up. -
Hi mstrouble - glad that you have been able to find some comfort and support here. We are always here for you. -
Awaking from my food coma, not participating in Black Friday. Wouldn't it be kind of fun if all the days of the month had colors to them? Persimmon Tuesday. Cerulean Wednesday. Ecru Sunday. -
What a cute pup! And I like the idea of colorful days. -
Oh, good afternoon my friends, I got darn perturbed yesterday because I couldn't log on here. Today I realized I was pushing the wrong button. Lol.
I have spent the last few minutes reading, catching up and laughing! Gobble tov, everyone!!!
Even tho we all have "circumstances" the act of laughing can help us rise above them.
I had an amusing trip to the grocery store on Tuesday. I am to start my new diet on this Tuesday, so I said to myself don't buy too much. Famous last words. In the produce aisle a man friend approached, gave me a hug, then said didn't your hair used to be a different color? More like mine, which was grey. Ha ha I said. At least he noticed a change. Then while I was trying to get a container off a top shelf, it toppled over and bonked me on the head before breaking open when it hit the floor. Clean up in aisle 6, by that lady laughing like a crazy person.
I hope everyone is enjoying their time with family and friends (who sometimes are better than family)!
I had 4 generations around the table yesterday, even tho there were only 4 of us. 98 years old, 61, 38 and 28 we all had stories to tell.
Is that your dog, Eli? We watched some of the dog show. I'm waiting for them to sanction my dog, boxadore!
-
Oh please send that puppy to my house. What a cutie.
Long day yest. even though not that far a drive by Texas standards. Started out late to DD's. It was entirely my fault as my sweet potatoes were not finished and I could have done a few more steps ahead night b4. Picked her up (well more like joined her because she drove to my DB's house.) Just 6 of us but we had a good time. Dropped her off at 7 and home by 8. The only thing I had last night was peppermint hot chocolate. I'm seriously addicted to McStevens brand with crushed peppermints. DH just left for work until at least 10 pm - he did not get home until MN Wednesday. At least he got to sleep in a little today.
Hope no one had to go for the Pepto yesterday. No cooking here - they're feeding DH at work so I will graze on leftovers etc. I had way to much fun grocery shopping the past week and need to seriously eat up stuff - apples, celery, and other asst. less calorie friendly stuff.
Mac - what is the "adore" part of a boxadore? I occas. read the local boxer adoption page but my backyard (minus the goatyard) is very small. My rat terrier is just perfect for it for it so alas I see no boxer in my future. -
Boxador = Boxer + Labrador (I think.) No, that is not my (Corgi) pup, just found the image. Yes, I did see the end of the National Dog Show and saw the American Foxhound take the Best of Show, the first time in that dog show's history that a Hound won the top spot. As a former houndog owner, (my supposedly part Foxhound passed last Thanksgiving,) I was happy to see that.
glennie19, welcome! I am not too familiar with Paget's. It sounds like yours was all DCIS with no invasion, so was it only the nipple that was affected and no other tumors found? Lucky that your nodes came out clear, and that the grade 3 had not spread beyond the ducts. Will you have to take any anti-hormonal drug or not? -
Eli - I thought that was a Corgi. I love them and one would have a blast in my yard trying to find the mole tunneling out there. Again I probably do not need another dog; Terra the Terrier (I know I have no imagination) is only almost 7 I think. She is sunning herself in the window at the moment. More like a cat.
Made another cup 'o coffee and pigging out on House Hunters International. Current one is in the Bahamas. -
A mole? My houndog dug one up once and squeaked it like a chew toy.
That reminds me:
One fall day, after the farmer's wife had baked an apple pie and had set it on the back porch to cool, a family of moles in a nearby burrow caught the scent of it. Sticking his head out of the small hole, the large father mole said, "Mmmm! I smell brown sugar." The mother mole, squeezed in tight beside him and said, "Mmmm! I smell cinnamon." The baby mole pushed and pushed but could not fit into the crowded opening, "Hmmph!" he said, "I smell molasses." -
thanks for the laugh Elimar! Need to catch up, but not before a much needed nap. Yesterday was the best Thanksgiving in many years (made up for my lonely, dismal one last year), I over-ate. Now, to sleep it off...
(Edited because iPad changed "over-ate" to "overrate", a different meaning!) -
Eli - It took 3 readings b4 I got the joke. Ha Ha. My Mole-a$$ has been busy this afternoon. DH stomped his dirt down and he's been busy redigging it. -
2nd time - Hurray for a better year and Thanksgiving this year than last. -
Eph, I can't believe how alike we are - we even misread the same things!! LOL I don't know that I thought DS was DR, I think maybe I read it as PS or BS, but definitely a doctor! Eli, thanks for setting us straight.
Johnetta, welcome...glad you took the plunge and jumped into our dysfunctional wonderful group!
Have to go into the office for a while tomorrow to save me tons of grief on Monday! Are you all feeling really sorry for me? Just for a second? LOL
Hope you all had things to be thankful for on Thursday. As always, I am oh so thankful for each and every one of YOU. -
I caught a bit of the dog show while I was cooking. Great to see the foxhound rise to the top! We have one...Tally is a foxhound/walker hound mix and is absolutely the smartest dog I have ever had. I was going to say "owned" but she is a very free spirit. Bred to be a bear hunter, but failed the test for that when she was a puppy, so now she just hunts down the most comfortable spots in the house to nap. At about one she learned how to open our front door. She communicates unlike any other dog I've ever seen; we never have to wonder what she wants or needs because she makes different sounds to get what she wants. The dog sitter couldn't believe how she "guided" her into doing what she wanted. Which usually meant throwing her head to her cookie jar, or stamping her feet to get dinner, or positioning herself face-to-face to get a nuzzle.
The funniest thing is that we also have a yellow lab, who doesn't communicate very well herself but somehow tells Tally to tell us what SHE wants. We take our dogs seriously; they are a huge part of our family and know their place in it! Both are 11 1/2 now, and Tally is going strong but Sadie (a purebred, which I will never go for again due to genetic issues) is feeling the effects of three rear leg surgeries (she doesn't have three rear legs!) and is a bit slower in getting around. Tally races ahead on our walks, ears flying while Sadie kind of lumbers along and stays close to us. But when we get to the stream, she becomes a fish and loves it. The dogs in my life have all lived until at least 14 but I don't know if Sadie will make that ripe age. And when she goes, it will be a very dark day. -
MIne is 14 1/2 and I agree it will be a very dark day, but I'm grateful for everyday that when I wake up she is still here, arthritis and all.... -
Molasses! Now that's funny!! Home safe from my foray into Central Calif for Thanksgiving. Had a nice time, but HAPPY to be home! -
yes, eli, you got it. boxer + black lab= Cinderof course, this picture is almost 3 years old. so she's much bigger, but still cute, black with brown brindle stripes.
Oh, e, I thought maybe you had gotten a new pup.
so back to the happy jump duo. I have always wanted to be blonde and thin, so thanks for thinking of me that way.
just put my son on the 8:30 boat, so alone again, feels kinda nice. Sent a lot of the left overs along with him. -
Hello gals,
Just wanted to pop in and say I watched the dog show as well. Love them all. I don't have a dog but my family always had doggies. Mom still does. I actually have 2 cats. Yep, just the cats n I. They don't like when I watch the dogs shows! I look forward to the show in Feb also.
Oh My Macat what a cutie pie -
Will be starting Tamoxifen on Monday. Hoping for minimal side effects! -
Johnetta,
All the best to you-look at the SE's link about Tamox on here and see what brand of Tamox you are given as most pharmacies are out of the Teva brand right now I believe.
I am so grateful for the wealth of knowledge on this board. -
