this thread is in my favorites too, I always read the email responses even if I don't get time to post myself. You all are always in my thoughts and prayers!
I have lost 20lbs since DIEP but I have another 30 to go, harder to do than I thought thanks to Tamoxifen! I just joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago, I'm down 4lbs
I am scheduled for another round of "fat grafting" next Friday the 18th. I sure hope it plumps my cancer boob up enough to match the left side! I'm tired of surgery!
I don't think I've gotten tumor markers, if so my oncologist has never talked to me about it.

Hi Everyone....
My Dr does TM test and is steady 26 or 27 for years now.
I asked him if I didn't have BC would it be 0.
he told me no. We like to see steady numbers.

Hi all! This is on my favorites too:)
it's 5:35am right now and I'm awake because my dog had to go out. I know I won't be able to fall back asleep so i'm checking on my favorite topics!
I get tumor markers done every 3 months too. I can't remember my numbers off hand but I know they have been steady.
Hugs to all! -
Very interesting-I don't know that I have ever had tumor marking done.

Hi Everyone!

So why do some do & some don't? and what is tumor marking?
-
Hi Dianne, I was on the Herceptin and finished on Sept. 20th... my hair is curly on the top and down the back and strait on the sides... like a curly mohawk.. lol
I read something a while back about cancer markers and then asked my Dr. if I had been tested, he said every time they take my blood and said they were fine. Just because they don't tell you doesn't mean that they aren't watching out for you. It's probably one of those things that they don't want to worry you about... just trying to make our lives less stressful
I hope everyone has a beautiful evening!
Hugs everyone!

I get copies of all my labs: I had one CA-125 (cancer antigen) and one CA15-3 (breast antigen) when first dx'd and that was done by my GP not Onc. Both were within normal ranges. Some doctors feel that the tests are valuable, some don't. I guess if my CA Markers had be high at dx, then they may have been watched the markers, but with normal values when active cancer was found, I guess my doctors did not feel they were a good indicator for my specifically...

Hey Nikki,
Tell me about fat grafting.
About me: I was diagnosed in May 2009 with IDC - had lumpectomy June 1. Then in July 09, began AC chemo for 4 weeks, every 3 weeks, - then 12 weeks of taxol. In addition, I was on the Avastin clinical trial and was indeed getting the "stuff". My BRACA test came back inconclusive. I also had DCIS in other breast in 2006, which involved a lumpectomy and 36 rounds of radiation. After having 2 kinds of BC and in both breasts, I made a command decision to have a bilateral mast. which happened in Feb. 2010 followed by immediate latismus dorsi reconstruction. There was some research that said that Avastin chemo might cause healing problems - and with me it did. I was using creams and bandages until May of last year.
My PS wanted me to wait a year so I just had my nipples done March 4. Anyway, he took some fat from my stomach and did lipo to my breasts to take care of some rippling that was occurring with the implants. He said that this had nothing to do with his part of the surgery but had something to do with the way the mastectomy was done. I was wondering if what I had done is what you are calling fat grafting. It felt really nice at first, but I've realized since the swelling has gone down that I still feel some rippling. My PS was very pleased with how everything looked - but I still had some swelling at that point. I see him again in a couple of weeks
Is the rippling something that I'm going to have to accept or will. Why did you have to have additional grafts?

Hello everyone. It has been awhile since we have posted. It is getting to that point of the year that we were all diagnosised. Mine was the end of April. Just have been thinking about everyone. I am getting the mammo at the end of the month. And all the other tests that go with this stuff. We are all cancer surviviors. Keep fighting. Dianne

Hey Dianne-Good to hear from someone. Keep wondering how Lisa is doing....anyone have an update?? No mammo anymore since I've had bilateral DIEP. Feels kinda weird not having anything tested. My BS said MRI next year. Doing fine...Hugs all around!! Joni1
