Teresa-I think the cancer returning is something we all think about. It is very scary. No matter what happens to our bodies, we always think could it be...Unfortunately it is our reality as survivors. And that really stinks! We can't even be sick without getting panicked. I will say a prayer that everything comes out clear and it is just a plain old head cold that is bothering you.  

Susie-I hope you are doing well. I will say a prayer for your mother.

Teresa - So, so sorry that you had a negative experience at the doctor's office.  Sometimes people are inappropriately cheerful, when a bit of compassion and understanding would be more helpful.  If you need someone to talk to when you are having these negative thoughts, feel free to call my cell phone anytime (from the Vegas list). We are here to support each other through the tough times.

I also feel so incredibly blessed to have a place where we know we can go to vent and that we KNOW that everybody here truly cares about what we all have to say.  How lucky are to have found eachother!!

Thanks Laura for the TATA SISTERHOOD!  I feel giving us a title just brings us closer and strong as women.

I love each and every one of you girls and I am so happy that I was able to share in such an AMAZING experience of Vegas!!!

You wouldn't be normal if you didn't have fears.  We all have them.  Sometimes it is easier to control them and sometimes it is harder.  Have the scans.  Get the information.  It is easier to deal with the facts than the fear of the unknown.  Every time I have any kind of ache or pain, I think that it is cancer.  I know there was a time in our lives when we had aches and pains and didn't think anything of them.  I just don't remember what that feels like.

The only thing that makes it easier to deal with for me is that the survivability rates are pretty good and I have to believe that instead of being one of those that recur, I will be one of the ones that survive.  I have two daughters.  I have to survive for them.   I invite you to be one of them with me.  Let's continue to go to Vegas when we are all 80 and in great health.

I know some of you don't read echange city...it's hard to keep up with all of the posts over there, so I thought I would post this on both threads...

I am feeling pretty crappy.  I finished antibiotiic on Tues and Wed night I started to run a fever!  Been sick since running fever.  If you remember I really thought I had appendisitis...so I have not been moving at all...well except for going to the bathroom.  So I was wondering if that was where the infection was.  You know fever means infection.  I don't have feeling in my breast but strangley enough I am having sensation on the inside.  My left breast has been having this tickle/itch feeling, but of course scratching it wouldn't do anything since I have no feeling.  So I had hubby look at my left breast was thinking the incision...cuz I can feel that.....he said it looked fine but....as I suspected...my breast is RED and HOT!  Dang it! I HAVE CELULITIS....FOR THE 3RD TIME IN MY LEFT BREAST!!!  I have had 3 different implants in this left side!  It's good that I haven't had my drain taken out.  He said if we had taken it out we would have to put in a new one.  The drainage doubled the days I was running a fever.  Well I still am running fever and I feel miserable.  Anyway if these double strength meds don't work then I will have to go back to the hospital for IV antibiotics which I have done before urgh.  And worse case he will have to take the implant out.  WAH!!!!!

OK I'm gonna snuggle with my kitty and sleep...sleep sleep...

I have had cellulitis many many times.  It is apparently cured by a very specific type of antibiotic.  If you are not on Dicloxacillin  ask your doc about it.
I'm so sorry you are going thru this, again!!

I have a question about Cellulits if you dont mind....Does this only occur if you have Lymphadema?  I have only heard about it from women who have that condition.  I was just curious.

Laura, so how are you feeling?  Have you taken a peak?  I hope your eyeballs are feeling much better.

I had my ct done today of the brain and sinus.  The tech told me that they would have a call report done so the doctor would call me before the end of the day.  He didn't so I paged him and he didn't know anything about the report.  He leaves tomorrow for Rome for 7 days.  I was kind of freaked out that I would have to wait but he assured me that his nurse will call me monday if at all possible with the results.  I hate waiting!

Teresa, this is my 3rd time getting cellulitis and I don't have lymphodema. 

Here is a copy and paste from a site I found by googling...

Cellulitis occurs when one or more types of bacteria enter through a crack or break in your skin. The two most common types of bacteria that are causes of cellulitis are streptococcus and staphylococcus. The incidence of a more serious staphylococcus infection called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is increasing.

Although cellulitis can occur anywhere on your body, the most common location is the legs, especially near your shins and ankles. Disrupted areas of skin, such as where you've had recent surgery, cuts, puncture wounds, an ulcer, athlete's foot or dermatitis, serve as the most likely areas for bacteria to enter.

Certain types of insect or spider bites also can transmit the bacteria that start the infection. Areas of dry, flaky skin also can be an entry point for bacteria, as can swollen skin.

Here is another copy and paste talking about breast augmentation...

Infection has been purported to be approximately two percent. Infection becomes apparent seven to ten days postoperatively but may manifest itself at any point in time. Presenting symptoms for infection include swelling, discomfort, pain, drainage and cellulitis overlying the breast. The wound, once an infection is identified, should be drained and irrigated. Removal of the implant may not always be necessary, particularly if a periareolar incision was used with the initial surgery.21 Antibiotics are prescribed immediately. Infection, if the implant was not removed, may result in severe capsular contracture. If the implant is removed following infection, may be replaced in three to six months. Infections may be commonly caused by Staph epidermidis or Staph aureus.

I forget if any of our Vegas vacation gals are from FL.  It sounds like I will be traveling to Melborne FL the week of Nov 16 to help transfer some of our work there.  We are going through some major changes at work right now.  It will be nice to get away to some warm weather.

WOW.....I thought I would come over here to give you an update and this overwhelming feeling came over me as I was scrolling through the posts and tears began streaming down my face.  I love each and every one of you girls from the bottom of my heart!  You all have touched my life and I KNOW you all will be with me forever!  The connection and bonds we all have formed are priceless.  It just overwhelms me when I think about it.

OK here's the scoop.  Sunday my breast began to really swell up and the pain went up a few notches.  I kept battling back and forth, do I call the dr. or not....I was going to see him the next day so I just decided to really focus on letting the antibiotic work.  Ron was so concerned and wanted me to call the dr. in the morning to see if I could get in earlier.  He did double time at work because he was convinced I would be going into the hospital.  My appointment wasn't until 4:30 so I had all day for those antibiotics to work.  Well they seem to be working.  The redness is lighter, but the swelling has not gone down any.  In fact because of the swelling, it all has given much pressure on my drainage tube which hurts like the dickens!  It's just another thing to deal with.  Speaking of the drainage tube, remember when I told you the dr. had said it's good that my tube is still in?  Well it has been draining double, actually one time it was quadruple time!  At least I know my body is fighting and doing what it's supposed to do!    The first time I got cellulitis was right after my last chemo treatment.  The treatment totally wiped me out and my white blood count was sooooo low.  I ended up in the hospital on IV antibiotics and was there for 4 days...YUCK!   I sure feel so much stronger this time around even though my body is trying to heal from the hysterectomy, from the reconstruction, and the cellulitis.

I need to be sleeping, but going to the doc today actually wore  me out.  After dinner I had to lay down.  Well I slept like 3 hours!  So here I am.  My daughter and I watched an old movie on my computer and now I can't get to sleep.  It's after 4am and my alarm will go off at 5:50!

Joyce... do not stress.. you are doing something great for yourself. PLUS... this is just a consult. At least this way/. you will know the advice of two doctors...

FYI... do not tell this new PS who your PS is now. Just let them know that you feel more comfortable not talking about your original PS.. they TOTALLY get this... ((((HUGS))))

Thanks for the advice Laura!  I don't want the new ps to be swayed by the 1st ps' plan to fix the asymmetry either.  I want to hear what he has to say...an independent assessment.  Then maybe I can make a decision to go forward.
