Feel better Lucy! No housework for you!
-
Lucy take care . Hugsss
-
((((Lucy)))) - Hope the cortisone helps.
BTW everyone - it is national no housework month (I just made that up)!
-
Katleen, I don't think you made it up, I just heard about National No Housework month on the Today Show so it must be real!!
-
Oh yeah, Linda, you're right. Of course next month is Halloween and it is bad luck to clean during the month of October, and November is Thanksgiving (and what a great month to be thankful for not doing housework and, of course December is Christmas so no housework. We will have to table all discussions of housework until at least January 2010.
-
Housework? I don't even know what the word means.
-
That's my girl!
-
Shiny, what an incredible 'ambassador' you are for my work. I'm so glad that the parcel made it across the big pond!! It's so amazing to think of your son bouncing along to my songs.
It's a hoot that they'd both like, "Potatoes!!" So funny.
I wrote, "Red, White & Blue" the week of 9/11 here. It will be the back bone to my next picture book. It amazes me that would be the song that your son responds to. Hmmmmmmmm.
I just went to the fabric store, cuz I must have left all of my 'wonder-under' in WI. So I hope to make substantial progress on the quilted illustrations over the days ahead.
Simultaneously getting everything ready for the wedding. We will leave two weeks from tomorrow!!! YIKES. Where did the time go? LOL.
So if I disappear for chunks of time -- don't be concerned.
Kathleen, I PROMISE I won't be doing any housework till after the wedding. You can count on that.
Take care of each other.

Hi, bunnies! Just a shout of love from down here in the fatigue pit! I have my good days now at least, but I'm still a ways from crawling all the way out of the ditch. I have two weeks off starting one week from today. Can't wait...to sleep in!
-
Faith, never did hear about what dress you got...did we? Gee that 6 weeks flew by!
Kathi, are the docs surprised at your level of fatigue still? Can you up the dose?

The story of the MOB (Mother of Bride) dress:
After searching in vain for the perfect dress for DD1's wedding almost 5 years ago..... and finding something suitable, tho not what I had in my brain as to what I 'wanted' --
I made a vow. Twill not be overcome with the need for a MOB dress the second time around.
So I think about 4 or more years ago -- one day when I was least looking for a MOB dress, I found one. AND I bought it. It's been hanging in my closet all of this time in it's plastic sheath. LOL.
Initially, I thought that it was just "tooooo" for DD2's wedding at hand. It's floor length (is that too formal for an outdoor wedding??) It's very conservative (is that too stuffy for the person that I've become??) It's straight as a stick (is that gonna be any fun for dancing?) Ya-da. Ya-da.
After consulting with my personal stylist, I have been assured that in this day & age, we can wear what we want to weddings -- regardless of the specifics of time & place.
So. Drumroll please.
I'm wearing my MOB dress from my closet!!
Too funny.
It's a column of color. Kind of a dark periwinkle blue. Certainly not navy, not really purple at all, but a simply gorgous color.
Two pieces. The dress is sleeveless (very high neckline -- that's the conservative part) and has a long sleeve matching jacket.
The top half (both bodice top & jacket) are some what "shimmery" tho, still in the exact same color as I've attempted to describe..... not at all sequin-y, but very lovely.
It turns out that they are using some 'blue' as accent in flowers etc..... so I think it will all look like it's some sort of a plan.
Thanks for asking.
We got my husband a dapper outfit just last night, so now he's ready to walk her over the bridge and down to the gazebo..... (which will probably be about the time I lose it.) We're having such a good time pulling this all together.
Spoke to the 'tent' lady yesterday & they are going to have twinkle lights thru-out as our "night before party" will continue after dark. We're having a big catered BBQ picnic @ the kid's home, which is perched on Beach Rd. on the Chesapeake Bay. Doesn't that sound lovely??
Feel free to stop by. There's always room for more. ****Just bring your own chair!! LOL
We found out just yesterday that our dear DIL (with the June newborn) is going to fly out from Denver, to be part of the fun. So that's just another layer of icing on the cake.

Congrats Faith on "finding" the PERFECT dress...I think i may have one or two dresses total in my closet besides my wedding dress which by the way my DD says she will NOT wear for HER wedding because it just isn't HER!...LOL...I don't mind a bit...I want her to have her own dress that is just HER....Wonderful news on the DIL gettting to come too.....BTW, Where is the wedding?...I would love to send a little wedding gift for the pair....You know me and my chrochet!...LOL
FINALLY soem good news for me!...I went day before yesterday to the orthopaedic doctor and he gave me a shot of cortisone in each hip....Well I am happy to report very little pain in either hip!.....It feels wonderful to walk without pain again.......Thank you all for the wonderful prayers!....God answered them all!.......
-
Good for you Faith!!
Lucy, I am happy you are feeling better too. No housework!
-
Hi bunnies! I'm still waiting for a call from onc about what I'm going to do about tamoxifen now that I got a clot. I'n taking my baby asoirin and wearing my TED hose.
Hollyann I'm glad the steroid injections worked on your hip pain.
Faith, the dress sounds very elegant! -
Faith, my dress was full length for both the outdoor weddings this year and I felt very elegant! I can't wait to see pix! The colour sounds gorgeous.....! You done good!
-
Faith, your dress sounds perfect. I rarely found an outfit when I went out looking. My Mom of the Groom dress was found on a senior citizen bus trip to a new shopping mall. This was a good 4 -5 months before the wedding.
I decided to wonder around and window shop - not needing or wanting anything in particular. Dress shop is in front of me, formal gowns, communion dresses, sweet 16 party dresses. What the H, go in and head to clearance rack. THE dress jumps out at me - beige, floor length, shimmery long sleeve jacket, priced VERY low. Tried it on without tummy cruncher and it was perfect. My son and best man wore tuxedos, so the long gown was good. Mom of the Bride also had a long gown. It was a small wedding with only best man and sis of the bride as attendants. On a steam paddle boat on the river. 75 guests total. I blended in as I had hoped to and took no attention from the bride and groom.
And I found shoes on clearance a week later for $ 4.99... Have a great weekend. HUGS, Nancy
-
Faith...the dress sounds beautiful!!! With that smile you could have rags on and look beautiful!
Lucy...so glad the steroids gave you some relief!!!
Just got back from my blood work... my white blood count was up to 3.3 from 2.9 on Tuesday!!! YEAH!!! No Neuprogen shot for me...whopeeeeeeeeeee
I spent preparing the garage for winter and then made a "free hat" tree for my chemo nurses. Dh and I took it in today when we went for my blood test. They loved it!!! I forgot my camera and wish I hadn't because they dressed it up while I was getting my blood drawn... even put a scarf on it...lol They always kept their "free hats" in the office in plastic bags so now they are thrilled they can keep them out where people can see them. Felt good...
My cat Ralph enjoyed the day outside also... too funny!
-
Hit submit before I posted Ralph...lol
-
Arnie, love the hat tree! also love Ralph!
Faith, I love that color you describe. You'll look fabulous, I know.
Barbe, thanks for asking. I'm tired of being tired, but I'm also tired of hearing myself talk about it. But I'm REALLY tired of people who should know better (friends, colleagues) saying stupid stuff to me, like "Oh, are you doing that 10-mile breast cancer walk next month?" Um, well, I'm too tired to eat sometimes, so, uh, NO!
The docs who are doing the fatigue study are not at all surprised at my struggles. That's one of the reasons they're studying cancer related fatigue. There's been research finding a correlation between it and the response of our immune systems to cancer itself, plus the chemo and radiation we get to combat it. The immune system goes into a sort of overdrive which doesn't stop, so all your energy is diverted to that, which then messes up your energy for anything else. Makes sense. And you can't necessarily turn this around yourself with just diet, exercise, etc., etc. because the hormones and neurotransmitters involved are all screwed up. Makes you feel crazy, actually.
Hugs to you all.
-
Arnie,
I love the hat tree. You are so talented and thoughtful!! I'm sure others will love it as well. I am glad your numbers improved too!
Linda
-
Arnie - love the hat tree and Ralph.
Lucy - so glad steroids helped - they, in moderation for severe pain, are wonderful!
Kathi - I hope they find an answer to your fatigue and, more importantly, fix it! I can relate to being tired of talking about something - it took me no time at all to shatter my shoulder, very little time for the replacement surgery and forever to heal it.
The wedding sounds awesome. Don't you just love a bargain!
-
I'm your biggest fan Arnie! You should sell your stuff at craft fairs.
Kathi, have you considered Fibromyalgia? Everyone Google it now...I've had it for about 7 years.
-
Barbe, I don't have pain.
-
Right! Duh on me
-
Arnie - The hat tree is a great idea for your Drs. office and the kitty cat looks very snuggle-able.
-
Barbe, no duh! on you...it's a good thought. I've wondered myself. But -- thank goodness -- I don't have pain, so that lets out the possiblity of chronic fatigue syndrome or fibro. Cancer Related Fatigue is now an actual diagnosis, although I don't know that most oncologists are even aware of that fact, nor do I know if it is yet included on the ICD-9 Code List (do you have to deal with this stupid document in Canada???) which categorizes illnesses & stuff for medical & insurance coding/billing.
If it keeps up, I'm going to have to make some very serious decisions about my life.
-
Canadian health care is amazing....contrary to what you guys see on TV. If I had an insurance adjuster deciding my health care I don't know what I'd do!
We do NO paperwork!
-
KAK... you go girlfriend!!! Maybe you'll be the one to help bring the awareness of cancer/chemo related fatigue to the forefront!!! We should get you on Oprah...
Thank you ladies for all your sweet comments about the "free hat" tree. When we got home there was a message from the ladies at my chemo clinic thanking me again. It was funny because a couple of weeks ago I took my wig figurine and wig into them and they've been having so much fun with her!!! lol They say she really classes the joint up!!! Now they have the "hat tree". lol
Barbe... no insurance paperwork... can't even imagine that!!!
Jane_M and Kathleen.... how you guys feeling??? I think of you often. Has anyone heard from TexasRose lately...been thinking about her too!
Makraz...how are the boys enjoying school? I remember how busy I was with my kids in school, band, sports etc. Dh and I were on the high school "pit crew" for our daughter when she was in marching band. Lots of competitions, fund raisers, etc. But, they were precious times...
Well, dh is making dinner tonight...so it gave me an opportunity to come on and say "hi". Hope you all have a precious weekend.
Just remember....
-
Arnie, He's a keeper!! Hope you enjoy your dinner.
The boys keep me very busy now between sports, school, scouts, clubs, volunteering for lunch and recess...you've been there! I enjoy the weekends now and the soccer games are getting really intense!
-
WAKE UP YOU DUSTY BUNS!!!! I'VE BEEN UP SINCE TWO O'CLOCK. THIS MORNING.
