Wow! 102. My mother went into Hospice care a couple of years before she died (May, 2019) and was discharged from Hospice when she did well and got better. That's not unusual, I learned.
Yesterday I went to the gym at noon, did cardio exercise on the upright bike and then went to the chair yoga class. The leader was a sub, the same young woman who leads the Silver Sneakers classes on Wed and Fri. The stretches were slow and controlled. Afterwards I was very tired, went home and showered and rested the rest of the day. I'm looking forward to doing the class with the regular teacher. I can feel my hip joints this morning.
It's sunny and cold this morning. I plan to go to Silver Sneakers at 11 am. I'm glad to have the gym as a place to go during this rainy winter with no golf. The golf course is sloppy wet even when the sun is shining.
Tomorrow dh and I are planning a trip with my youngest sister and her dh. We'll drive 2 1/2 to 3 hours to St. Mary's Parish and visit my middle sister, who is pretty much home bound. She's the sister I've mentioned as reminding me of you, Jackie. She has many cats and dogs and other animals, too. Her dh has is very dependent on her and she feels that she can't leave him to make family visits requiring an overnight stay.
We'll take my sister and her dh out to lunch, visit a while and then drive back. It will be a long day with a lot of driving.

Good morning. A little cooler this morning. My SE's from Arimidex have suddenly hit me all at once. Hot flashes (haven't had those in years), and joint pain. I can hardly move.
-
Petite - I too was surprised at the hot flashes at 71. MO switched me from a mild tranquilizer I had been on for years to Venlafaxine. Don't know whether I "outgrew them" or the venlafaxine has helped but I'm staying with it. Hydrate and try move if you can. I do stretches before I ever try to get out of bed.

Have you tried loratidine (Claritin)? Get the plain, not decongestant. It seems to work for some people.

Our "Rainbows and Butterflies" are the small miracles of our life -
the little things that are so easy to overlook,
yet so awe inspiring when we take a moment
to notice and to pay attention.
Give thanks for the rainbows, for the butterflies,...
for all God's creatures - large and small,
for the bright blue sky and the soft fog and the gentle rain,
for the tree veiled in the season's first frost,
for the baby's laugh,
for the touch of a hand and the whispered "I love you."

Good morning. It was 35 degrees when I got up, No hot flashes and pains. Yay

I have the stalker t-shirt. With a shih-tzu on it.
-
Great poster but my bathroom stalker is a cat (actually the 3 take turns doing the stalking)! It's always interesting to me that once my children outgrew this need, the animals decided I still could not go unattended. LOL.

One is happy as a result of one's own efforts--once one knows the necessary ingredients of happiness--simple tastes, a certain degree of courage, self-denial to a point, love of work, and, above all, a clear conscience.

Fortunately Dh and I live alone so that bathroom doors are only closed ( sometimes loudly harped about ) during showers. It is our cats who think they are missing something extremely important. While my arm was broken and I needed to be able to call Dh they got used to the door open and did learn NOTHING they would really want to be involved in was taking place. They are re-learning that once in awhile they are locked out.
Sun today. It will be warm which I will love. Already had some ( huge fur balls ) big messes to clean up. Seems the cats may be feeling spring wanting to arrive so they have been busy licking. Everything I have is covered with old towels this time of yr. that can be washed and put back down. Makes a mess but you adapt and go on.
Hope you all have a fantastic day.

Jackie:
Shut bathroom doors are not a deterrent since we installed lever door handles due to age related arthritis. The cats learned they could just pull on them to open the door. They don't stay, it just seems to be the challenge of opening a closed door, making their statement, leaving us exposed and then them leaving on their terms. I do have to monitor when guests are here to insure they have privacy. One loved watching the water in the bowl after a flush.
It is a lovely sunny day with temperatures near 50. Have a good Sunday.

Those cats -- where there is a will ( and there is almost always that ) there is a way. We had a cat that would open our front door that way Betrayal. Our front door is actually enclosed in a big screen room -- so no one could escape but it did get the 'fancy' handle, easy for some cats to figure out. They only have to do it once too. We finally had to lock the door though because either all the heat or all the air-conditioning would end up getting donated to our town at large. Grrr.

Giving it up for the night:

Oh, yes. Midnight Louie is a bathroom stalker, but the toilet flushing scares him and under the bed he goes.

A habit for all of us to develop would be to look for something to appreciate in everyone we meet. We can all be generous with appreciation. Everyone is grateful for it. It improves every human relationship, it brings new courage to people facing difficulties, and it brings out the best in everyone. So, give appreciation generously whenever you can. You will never regret it. -Carl Holmes

Good morning, ladies. Probate on my mom's estate is finally over. I contacted a real estate agent to sell the house and the estate sale of her belongings will be 3/6, 3/7. 3/8. I will be glad to get through this difficult time.
-
Glad to hear things are moving well with your mom's probate, petite. Hopefully, it won't take too long to sell her house and you can begin to get 'settled' more with her loss and less with all the efforts and work that is made by a passing.
Rained yesterday and while it doesn't look so much like rain now, it was really WET outside when we got up. Looks like it might be a damp day.
I hope you all have a great Monday.

If I can think of myself as loved, I can love and accept others.
If I see myself as forgiven, I can be gracious toward others.
If I see myself as powerful, I can do what I know is right.
If I see myself as full, I can give myself freely to others.

Well, well, well. Rain off and on for two days and snow this morning. I don't think it will stick and may even turn back into misty rain at some point as it warms a bit, but still something of a surprise. I knew it would snow in Chicago, but I am four hours away. Still, I can't complain. It is not going to stick and won't last long on the ground -- what little does.
Otherwise, should be a good day. I hope you all have a good day as well -- and not too much for snow or other issues.

Good morning, ladies. It is cool and sunny. I am heading out for nice walk with friends and then lunch.
-
Sun out today and that makes it very pretty. Temp. won't be real high but 60's predicted for the week-end. Well, that will be really nice. It will likely produce the possibility of rain but that is a bridge for later. I'm just going to really enjoy that sun. Nothing much going on here which is how I like it. Didn't go out for taco night last night has Dh was waiting for a call that never came. I didn't mind cooking. We did have a little more snow about when it started to get dark, but not slick outside despite looking like it was.
I hope everyone is doing well and I hope you all have a wonderful day with lots of sun at your house too. Been wondering how Puffin is enjoying her new living arrangements. Hope all is well with you.

I am working on a 1000 piece puzzle. The table where it's laid out is like a magnet. I'm wondering why I bought this puzzle some years back--I don't remember the purchase details. In addition to flowers, it has insects and I really don't like insects. It's a difficult puzzle but slowly the pieces are fitting into their places.
It's sunny and cold this morning. I plan to go to Silver Sneakers chair yoga this afternoon at 1 pm. Plus work on the puzzle!
-
We were working on a puzzle at Christmas. A really difficult one. Suddenly GS put together about 6 pieces. I'm sure he's seeing something different than what I see. One year we got a small puzzle, maybe 6 inches diameter. It was a box of chocolates in wrappers. Impossible to see the shape of the pieces with the distracting wrappers. We finally turned it over and put it together with the blank side up.

Ladies, we're in Syracuse, NY for the funeral, partner lost his 102 yr old mom. Temp 26 & feels like 13. We can deal with that, but the predicted blizzard is hitting just north of here. Tug Hill area could get 3 feet. East Syracuse calling for 1-3" so we're thankful for that. Ride home tomorrow on NYS Thruway, which is kept very clear, should be ok.
If you can get out & enjoy the day, do it! HUGS to all.
-
Brrr, Cindy. Thinking about you and hope all goes well with you. Condolences on your partners loss. Making it to 102 though sounds like a good long life, but it always hurts. Do hope the roads are good for you on the way home.
Carole and Wren -- the puzzles sound like fun if you don't look at the bugs too long. Dh and I did puzzles for years. Finally we jus gave up as it was getting to be a hassle with having too many cats around. Wasn't bad when the most we had was two. Had a puzzle on the card table most of the time. Friends would come to by to chat and end up helping. Sometimes I miss those days -- our kids weren't grown yet though and there was a lot of water that hadn't gone under the bridge yet. It has made for a lot of pleasant memories.
Week-end temps here will be good though our mornings are still pretty chilly. Hope we have more sun tomorrow.
