Thinking Out Loud.....

A friend of ours who works with DH was Dx'd with colorectal cancer about 18 months ago, she went through all of the tx and is in remission. Her DH was dx'x with liver cancer last month and he was all down and not into the fight. She told him if he didn't fight they might as well call hospice. Well, he passed on Sunday. I am sure she feels even worse since she had said that. She was at work yesterday! I think she is trying to keep busy but...
-
That's so sad Meece. I am so sorry for them.
-
It really had DH down yesterday. He said when he got to work he stopped by to tell her if she needed to go off on someone, he was there for her. He didn't know her DH had died at the time and was so thankful he hadn't said anything inappropriate.
-
He's a good man.
-
He is. I am lucky.
-
I see you have all been busy chatting........
It's cold outside but i'm so grateful our boiler is working full force 24 hours and It's very warm here.....
Chris...i really want you to start writing a book......your words are soo funny.........
God Bless all the good men in your life.........♥
Meece...Sorry for your friend....hugs
Ray....Don't ever feel that way...we are here for good and bad.........Hugs

I have couple of random questions.......
1) when I had my colonoscopy March 2008...DR told me I needed one every 10 years......now I've told it's every 5 years.....(Everything was normal) any info will be appreciated.......
2) How long one elderly can or should walk in this cold........
3) those who are on BP and Cholesterol medicine (if you're one of them) how often do you see your primary for follow ups/......Everything is under control and normal readings for years now
Thank You.......
-
1) No idea, thank God!
2) It's to cold. stay in and turn the heat up. Maybe bake something.
3) DH had high cholestereol and is tested every 3 months. SInce he lost weight, his cholesterol went down and they stopped his meds. They still test him every 3 month.
-
Linda....My original DR for 27 years used to do it every 3 months
Since I lost him for Insurance reasons....my new DR doesn't believe i need it done that often that every 6 months will be more than enough
You're right I should stay home where it's beautifully warm......
I've been home for too long...no exercise........
-
Sheila,
Ah Sheila, glad you are snow-free...I think I got the most on LI. Not bad though. Car started today at 6 AM.
I was told 5 years for colonoscopy (just had in August at 63). But I had endoscopy at same time and they said come back in a year for that test. Don't wanna. I don't know if there is a time limit....but last night they were talking about the problems that very cold air can bring to the airways - even cold weather asthma.
I see cardio every 6 months and take low dose crestor which he just doubled (ugh). I have elevated cholesterol but not "high" but he's being cautious because of AI drugs. I go back in 6 months. I see PCP once a year unless I have a problem - mainly because i see so many other docs still. She gets copies of all the bloodwork. (No wonder I'm slightly anemic from so much blood drawing.)
Meece, I am always shocked when I hear that multiple family members are dealing with any form of the beast (ca). How sad for this family to have this unexpected loss.
Val, I read your post last night (I fell asleep answering so trying again) about having such a nice lunch with your friend you had not seen in awhile...... I am glad that you reconnected. I have learned a lot about "live and let live" -- it's easier that way....takes a lot of energy to try to remember the past. I get a lot of practice at work with relationships. It's easier to not be offended and to treat others with high personal regard. Of course, I have my drop off points and draw the line when needed. Are you staying warm???
-
Come and join
See you later.........
-
Thanks Joan for the info.....
♥

I'm freezing just looking at her!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I hope there's an indoor hot tub or sauna at the end of that boardwalk

Joan, I agree with you re: "live and let live". Omg, you said it, it does take a lot of energy to try to remember the past. That gave me pause... It has taken me a while to reach this point, it's been a little over three years that the incident (don't know what to call it without going into detail) happened. It was something I needed to work through & after going through many levels of anger & forgiveness, I reached that conclusion. We had such a deep, heartfelt talk. She told me she understood where I was coming from & that she was hurt, but she said, "that was then - this is now. I am just glad we have reconnected." She is younger than me, just a couple of years older than my DD's but such an old soul. I am the lucky one to have her back in my life & I told her that.
We can change our perspective.... see things in a different light..... I'm living proof.
Getting older ... BC ... whatever ... we all grow into ourselves...
OKAY !! Enough of that!
I'm freezing my patoo-ie off!! Went out grocery shopping yesterday - too da*n cold!! I took a picture of my new hat & will try to upload off my iPhone over to PhotoBucket & get here. If not tonight, then soon. It is American Made, right in the U.P. of MI, way, way over in Ironwood by the Wisc. border. (though I bought it in a sports store in northern-lower MI ... go figure!) Anyway, it's cute!!
Sheila, Dang, that woman makes me cold - crazy lady. She must be nuts! Now, there is probably someone here who has done that, well, if so, you are much braver than I.
Stay warm everybody, for those of you in the freeze-out zone! Or enjoy the sun for us if you are out west, where we all wish we were just about now!

I remember when I quit my job Ray. I had a 3.5 year old and I one year old. LOVED my jb but needed to be a mom. I was so worried about finances....still am. That was 13 years ago. Things will work out. Cherish this time with your son, you'll never get it back!
-
Any news from Granny K?
Val, wow, those types of heartfelt talks that end on a positive note don't happen often. As my friend who is a counselor tells me, some people prefer to just 'sit in their pain' ... but glad for you that it has cleared the path for a continued friendship.

Deb, just wondering, and not sure if you had noticeable SEs, but did you notice any difference when you stopped Arimidex? I can't even think that far ahead that I may be off AIs some day.
