Thinking Out Loud.....

Chris - hope your son is ok - had a young person pass out in front of me recently at the store. I asked yesterday if the owner knew what had happened - it was low blood sugar.
Ray - I think I already said it but if not, I'd cut 'em off given another opportunity just because I hate the scares.
Sheila - you are really focused on Hawaii, ha?
Sandy - hope ¥ou sleep!
The OCF was fantastic! Wish there were leftovers.
-
I'm here, Sandy!
I guess I am from a warm climate, but it is all relative. When you get used to 110 degree summer days, then when it drops into the 40s and 50s in the winter it seems very cold. My metabolism has always had a bad thermostat. I joke with Dh that I can't wait until I go through hot flashes so we can both be comfortable in the house at the same time.
Congrats on the news, and on Jacob, RayRay. My little boys are 23-25 and 28. And then there's my grandson, Patch, who is 18 months.
I can't remember how long I have been here, someone did a shout out for me, and I found this thread. Something about food got my attention I think.
My greenhouse is nice and comfy although I lost a small vent panel in the last wind storm we had. So, it could be warmer in there, but the plants are happy.
I went out to check my asparagus patch this afternoon. No new sprouts yet, can't wait for SPring and fresh vegies.

Chris, what a day...it's good to have a follow up for DS. It's not a good thing to be happening; although for some young people it isn't so unusual. You have so much going on... and you are holding everyone together. It must be so hard for your mom to have this huge adjustment in her surroundings. It must be difficult to leave when she tells you those things. She probably settles down after you leave.
Sandy that chemo and steroid cocktail really sux....can't wait for you to be done. It sounds like the twins are having a big case of denial...if they act up then maybe they don't have to acknowledge the fear and frustration of your illness. It would be nice if they could open their eyes and see what you really need. Please feel better.
What do you do with your sand? I collect sand also - for my geology laboratory. If anyone has sand from various parts of the country/world, I'll send a container and return envelope. I love sand, unless it's in my pocketbook rubbing against my loose sunglasses.
Ray - so glad it's B9. What an amazing story you have told. It must be interesting to be mothering a 2 year old right off the bat...but the timing of Jacob's arrival seems just right.
I'm a newbie on TOL but have been on BCO with some of these great ladies since 8/2011. About your discussion about Mx...did you check the boards for anyone with a similar situation? You can always start a thread and raise the question you are facing - you will get replies.
I have cardiologist 6 month appt. tomorrow. Was so proud of the 5 lbs I lost but then tonight I had cheesecake after dinner. It was low carb, of course!
Nite all,
Joan
PS - about driving on the left...the fun part was that my rental was a stick shift (driver on right side) so I had to shift with my left. Talk about a brain scramble.... -
Aw, RayRay, what an adorable little Mr. Man. He's beautiful & I'm so happy for you. And wonderful news on the b9 results!
Hugs to everyone, hope you are fairing well in the snow or getting all the sleep/rest you want. ((Sandy))

What a cutie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the pic!!
Heading to Johnson and Wales today with my son for a tour and informational session. It's 21....... and I will be walking outside all day.......
Have a good day everyone!
-
Chris, hope your DS is OK. Is it blood sugar levels?
-
I don't think it's blood sugar. I'm assuming they checked that last time too. This happened a little while after he had eaten supper...who knows.
Johnson and Wales- I think DD's friend goes there - she'll be a junior next year - majoring in food service stuff. Not sure exactly what she is studying - she is learning how to cook, but I don't know whether she wants to cook or be a manager. DD says it's annoying to go out to eat with her now, because she tells everyone everything the restaurant is doing wrong - lol.
Ray- your little man is adorable. I'm so glad he came into your life.
I want to live in Meece's greenhouse too. It must be so warm.
I don't think my mother settles down at night. They do give her ativan, but yesterday we found out that they had found her scooting in the hall outside her door the night before. The hospital has bed alarms so if patients get out of bed, the alarm goes off. I'm pretty sure her bed at rehab does not have an alarm. So I'm not sure how they are going to handle her - especially as she gets stronger and can get around easier. I will definitely have to ask about that.
Didn't sleep well last night - coughing. I probably really shouldn't go to rehab, but I feel like I'm abandoning my father. My nose isn't running and I'm not coughing that much during the day- I mainly have a post nasal tickle that is very annoying. I just keep sipping soda or water to try to take the tickle away. I'm washing my hands a lot and trying not to touch anything, but if my father is talking to someone and my mother wants something, I have to take care of it for her. I hope I'm not being irresponsible. Kind of a no-win situation - typical of my life.
-
21 Linda omg, have fun with that...it is 31 here....
Ray that baby is adorable...love the tie!!!
Chris, hopefully DS is getting better and mama well, feel bad for her!!
Shiela thanks for yet another desktop.....beautiful....I need the beach....actually my cousin lives at the shore, not directly on the beach but away from here....am going down within the next month for a couple of days, vacation.....can't wait....
Thanks, Val, Joan and Meece for checking in , Joan I am never not off chemo, my bc has metastized so I am on this chemo until it doesn't work or I get stable and then on to another one or if it stablizes back on hormonal like Falesodex or Femera....
Diane yay OCF!!
Thank you all yes I slept but I got Hoda's book and read it for a while went to sleep about midnight and slept all the way through until 745am so that was cool....gotta go to walmart and to CVS and get their meds (adderall) and they aren't in denial they are just azzes!! Don't know if I have mentioned this but since i am in active treatment (forever) , I am applying for all kinds of grants, I have received 1 last year and the American Cancer Society has a coupld of them, the one I just received was a homemaker grant for 300.00 to help with whatever you need, mine will be used to help clean my house and I think I will get the twins to paint and pay them cause they are going to clearwater for spring training with the philllies with my oldest son and didn't give them anything for their birthday or xmas (no money)....there are other grants I will apply 4 just 1 at a time....also ACS has a transportation grant that you can get 23cents a mile for going to the drs. and chemo, up to 300.00, you get a 10.00 gift card for gas which also works.....I have to spread the word....

My so got accepted to Johnson and Wales! YAY!! I'm going to be so poor(er)!!! Thats the good news. Now the bad. While I was parked in Providence RI someone smashed my car window and stole our coats, my pocketbook and 700.00 worth of gift cards! My car only has 5 thousand miles on it and it yucky. SO mad at stupid people!!!!
-
OMG Linda, was it parked in a parking lot or where.....
Congrats to DS....
-
Luckily in MA all glass is covered, so it's good! Unfortunatley my brand new Rav 4 is scratched on the inside from all the glass. Huge mess to clean up. Oh well. It was parked on a main street in Providence RI. Apparently it hapens all the time. who knew?
-
Don't it just burn your ass when things like that happen. They can do it so quickly. Years ago and I mean years ago, I stopped at a small grocery store to pick up some milk and bread and my 8 track was ripped right out of the dash board. The parking space I was in was right next to the building with all windows. No one saw a thing.
RayRay, doin the happy dance for B9 results.
((((TOL)))

-
I 'suggested' some of you for friends for rayray. Check your facebook! Anyone else on Facebook out there??
-
Went South today to take DS2 to some of his VA medical appts. He just wanted company and it gave us several hours to talk. I dressed for the weather we have been having here, and it was mid 70s! I had to peel off one layer. It felt good not to have to wear a coat. His first appointment was 7 am (we left his house at 4 am) it lasted 1 hour which left us 6 hours until the next appointment. We decided to go see an IMAX movie and when we bought the tickets they asked if we'd like to go see the Space Shuttle Endeavor for free. We said sure and after the movie we went and saw it. So Cool! Amazingly big, and yet to imagine living in there for any period of time seems cramped. You only get to walk around and under it, can't see in it but there are plenty of pictures in the museum around it.
Good day over all.
Your bumpkin is adorable, RayRay!
Good Night all!
-
I'm on FB.
-
Hi dear friends......here, and ok.....Sandy thanks for asking...hope your doing ok too.
Linda....my grandson goes to Johnson and Wales, and really likes it. Hope your son does as well. This is the one who had the drug problem, and had turned his life completely around. God is good.....just hope the one who was living with me (but went back home) is doing as we'll. have not heard from him....
Will check in later........hugs -
Hi...surprised to see anyone still up.
Hi Sheila, brrrr I was so cold tonight I had DH fire up the kerosene heater. I hope you are feeling better.
Sandy - sent you a PM - and glad you got some unbroken sleep.
Ray - he's precious and it sounds like you are really loving motherhood!
Granny - thinking of you and hoping that you are doing OK in PA.
Meece - sounds like you had a special day with your son. It's great when good things happen with no effort!
Linda, so sorry to hear about your car! I leave "stuff" in my car all the time...and gift cards too...and things to return with the receipts...and sometimes my laptop...and I do think about the risk. But I am hanging on to my old Blazer and nobody wants to go to the trouble to look in there! Glad to hear your son is accepted and has a plan. Did you say what he is going to study?
Chris, what a dilemma when you don't feel well....the colds that are going around are lasting so long that it is difficult to stay away from people....we can't stay in for 3 weeks ! The situation with your mom sounds very challenging. It's been a long time now. Hoping for the best for you and family.
Well, I'm still congested....I got a flu shot finally. I had to fill out forms and it asked if I am sick today....I thought about it then checked "no" because if I checked "yes" then maybe I wouldn't get the shot. Students come back to classes Tuesday and who knows what they will bring. I know it takes awhile before I'm protected but at least it's done. I saw cardiologist today and he upped my crestor to 10 mg temporarily to see if it helps. My number isn't in the danger zone, he just wants it low preventatively. Everything else is pretty good. I really don't want any more meds. I see gyn specialist Monday.
Have a good night everyone!
JoanPS - am on Facebook but don't have a lot of time now that work is starting back up. Will check - I've found Sheila and Granny which will lead me to others
-
Linda~ what has gotten into people?!? Seems like so many people want something for nothing. >>You have it. I want it.
On the bright side, congrats to your son for his acceptance to Johnson & Wales.
Meecie~Love the special day with your son!
I'm on FB, also.
{{{{ K & Son }}}} -
Sorry about your car and all the stuff they stole. With the economy being as bad as it's been for as long as it has been, crime will probably be on the increase.
Joan- when I got my flu shot, they said you just shouldn't have a fever - you can have cold symptoms. I was just getting over a weird inner ear thing and my sinuses were acting up and when I went to get a Rx for Flonase filled, the pharmacist gave me the hard sell with the flu shot. I'm glad he did, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten it. Takes about 2 weeks to be fully effective, they say.
Space shuttle - so cool.
I hope you get a whole bunch more grants, Sandy.
(((((((TOL))))))))
-
Congrats, Linda. What great news!
One bad thing with the shuttle was that both DS and my phones were out of battery power (weird coincidence) and neither of us could take any photos!
When you girls say "I'm on FB" are you going there to chat?
-
RayRay's my BC buddy on FB.
-
Me too Deb....
Linda again sorry, people just need to be nicer to people...
Ducky glad to see you check in thanks,
Granny you too, how is DS?
Meece don't ya just love spending time with sons without anybody else, actually for my bd gift I asked my older kids for just me and them to go to dinner, never happened because I got sick and guess they forgot, haven't reminded them either.....tonight Cracker Barrell with the daughters and grandchildren....maybe George...space shuttle?
Thanks Chris feel bad asking doctor to fill out paperwork but oh well, he has done 2 so far and have more, lol...now have to get the boys to clean the house if they want money
Hey Val how r u?
Feeling ok, caught up on sleep I think, woke up at 630am but went back to sleep and got up at 11am, love that one....nausous but that is par for the course....Macy's is calling so working tomorrow 1230 - 715 kinda long, not sure how I will do it, usually can only do 4 hours, but of course I will be fine, so grateful they still have me on the books, need to get out and feel productive and away from the twins AND showing work ethic....
