Sandy, glad the port went well. take it easy, girl!

I made a facinator like that for my DIL when they got married 5 years ago. I started making it and she couldn't "see"it in her mind. Then the day before the wedding, her hair stylist told her she needed one. So I made finished i up and she looked adorable.

Hey - Easter is coming and I'm starting to get nervous that I will be asked to host DH's family.  Was thinking I could do a spiral ham, but I want to go to church - DD will likely be playing her trumpet.  I don't want to leave the ham in the oven when no one is home.  And I've had trouble with the ham not heating through in the time it says it will. Does anyone else have that problem?  Do you find it takes twice as long to heat ham as the package says?  My oven temp is okay.

I suppose we could just eat later than I'd like...  What do you all do?

Heard a joke today for St Paddys Day....

An Irishman walked out of a bar............no, really, that could happen.

I think Hams are the easiest since you just heat them.  Mabe put it in the oven on a very low temp and then turn it up when you get home???  Or go out to eat!

Unfortunately,I think I need too big a ham for a crockpot - I'd be feeding up to 15 people - a few are small people, but they might eat some ham too...

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'm okay with eating at 3 or so - I'm just afraid it will take longer to heat than it says.  15-20 min/lb - 8lb ham - that would be 2 - 2 hrs 40 min.   I think I tried to heat a 4lb ham for an hour and it wasn't anywhere near warm enough.

I'm just incompetent in the kitchen - forgive me...

Was out in the "garden" today - digging up weeds (some evil ones with thorns!)   and moving top soil.  Ow, my aching back...  But it feels good to do some honest work for a change.

81 degrees today, worked real hard out in my garden raking, weeding lugging out the gardent stuff.  I will be sore tomorrow.  I have a nasty blood blister about the size of a dime on my arm, a metal basket fell on my arm in the shed looks like hell.

It was beautiful Deb!  Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Chris, I have a crockpot that is oval and HUGE!  Maybe someone you know has one that you could borrow.  If you want to swing by here, I would be happy to give it to you.

deb, I bruise so easily that I always have a couple of those and usually don't even know how I got them.  Been that was since childhood.  When people comment on them I just say someone must have been staring at me too hard.

So you are enjoying warm weather and today we drove through a snow storm and when we got home it hailed.  Go figure.

Chris, I have one of those electric roasters.  Since the kids are coming over for dinner tomorrow, I got it out to put a couple of corned beef roast in.  My crock pot won't hold enough for two growing "boys" and the rest of us.  Maybe someone has one of those to borrow.

    Oooo - enjoy Florida!

Lol - Chabba - staring at you too hard.

Hope that blood blister clears up fast and that you're not too sore, Deb.

Do you know how many quarts your crockpot is, Linda?  I was thinking putting a spiral ham face down- it might stick up too high - if it isn't too big around...  But what do I know?  I hate to cook.  Ha - and this isn't even cooking -it's reheating!  I keep saying one of these days I will know what I'm doing - it's been 20 yrs and no signs yet...

Sounds like you had a nice weekend, Sheila.  Hope you enjoy the warm temps this week!  I wanted to go for a walk today - but was too sore after yardwork.  Tomorrow, hopefully.

I will roast my turkey in it and use my over for everything else.  I can do at least 3 Corned beef briskets.  And, I have been known to put 10 cornish game hens in it.
