Georgia, that is awesome about the Olympic Trials! What race, or races, did you compete in and what years? One of my friends was a high school swim coach and is still very active in the national coaches association. She has often gone to the trials and to several Olympics as well (as a spectator).
My avatar is ME .
Something fun I did, or will do, before the weekend is over is......
-
Snuggle my 4 year old daughter most of the day while watching movies and eating popcorn! 😊 (We did it today!)
Thanks hsant and Ruth! I competed in the 200 breaststroke for both the 1988 and 1992 Olympic trials. I got 54th in '88 and 20th in '92. That is so neat about your friend, Ruth! The swimming world is definitely a world of its own!
What I plan to do tomorrow is.......
-
That is awesome, Georgia! I will ask her if she was there. My friend also always goes to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta. In fact, she was there a couple weeks ago. Did you compete in them? If so, for what school?
Tomorrow I HOPE to finish off my bathroom remodeling project and get everything back to it's proper place!!!!!
If I want advice on decorating, paint colors etc., I ask......

HGTV. (good luck, Ruth!)
My kitchen is ...

a watermelon kitchen, ever since I lived in the Watermelon Capital of the World in Cordele, Georgia!
Yes I did, Ruth, for Auburn University. I only made it Freshman year, was hundredths away from making it Sophmore year. It is harder to qualify for NCAAs than Olympic Trials. Good luck with your remodeling!
A project around the house that I want to accomplish is......

hanging art on the walls in new house. That entails drywall screws & two-person install so procrastinating.

Monet, for sure.

A wedding photo. I had it professionally framed.
My favorite room in my is .. because..
-
my reading room ( in my ex house, moving this week) because it is tucked away, peaceful, and quiet.
Boy, you guys, I missed so much just because I am busy!
Georgia, that is impressive ( swimming) , wish I could be an accomplished athlete like that. Actually, let me re-phrase that..... at this point, I will just be glad if I can get moving everyday! Oh and I had 6 grey tabbies growing up.
Ruth, I also had one black and white cat. Now, I am down to a 6 year old German Shepard who 'steals' stuff animals at yard sales every time we walk by and no one's looking! Your ring story sounds a little like mine. My MIL, a 45 year survivor and counting, gave me a pair of earrings for Christmas the year before diagnosis and I wear it to all my drs apptments for good luck, I swear it brings me luck.
Badger, I love HGTV too but have you been on houzz.com. We are remodeling our new place and, fortunately, I find myself on there more often then here, keeps me distracted.
If I could live anywhere in the world I would live in..........

Seattle or North Carolina on the ocean. Seattle is SO beautiful and just seems like a clean, safe, and gorgeous place to live. And really any ocean, just GA or FL as much as Iove it there, it may be too hot for me. Just love the water!
I missed you kiks! Glad you are back! And thanks, but it was my past history! 😀 I feel exactly the same way you do nowadays, especially doing chemo and then my BMX with TEs!
A place I always wanted to visit is ......... Because...........
-
Hi Kiks!
A place I always wanted to visit was Boston because I love history (and I finally did visit, spent a fantastic week there last fall) and I always love to visit the North Carolina beaches (which I do every year because my sister lives in NC and each time we spend a few days by the ocean).
A foreign country I would love to visit is....because......
-
Ruth, I lived in Boston for four years when I was in college. Of all the cities in the US that I have experienced, it's my favorite, with San Francisco coming in at a close second. However, Charlston and Seattle are on my list of cities I would like to visit.
Italy, because my husband is from Milan.
My favorite summer activity is...because..
-
Going to the pool! I love the sun, water and family time. Going to the beach is number one bit that hasn't happened every year.
I love all of those places, Ruth and hsant! I haven't been to San Francisco or Boston but always wanted to go.
The funniest dream I had was.......
-
......... GOSH, I just realized I never had a funny dream. Is that bad? Maybe I should live, love and laugh more often .
On that topic, I was just thinking that I should visit Savannah and Charleston, it was on a list of places you should see before you expire. The pics were so beautiful and I love history. Speaking of travel, I just ran into someone whose hometown was Lausanne, Switzerland and I had the best memories there once upon a time. It was also next to Evian, France ( Evian water?) on Lake Geneva and I spent Bastille Day there with the cinders from the fireworks falling all around me onto the cobblestone streets. Of course I was way too young then to realize that my hair could possibly catch on fire ( that's the Mom in me). I had also lived in both Seattle and San Francisco. Both are amazing cities with very similar cultures. If you do visit, make sure you give yourselves enough time to explore surrounding areas as well, there are so many numerous beautiful and unique towns around them.
My hobby is ........because.......
-
Cooking, because (typically) people love to eat, it's a way I show love, and I find it to be therapeutic. I also love to read books, because I find it to be perfect form of escape.

Sammy's garden (named after the child I lost via miscarriage in 2013). Where we buried him we made a garden. We still need to get fresh flowers for it for this year. Also love our vegetable garden (currently with carrots, radishes, lettuce and tomatoes planted).
My backyard is a great place for...
-
a 4th of July picnic because there are lots of trees so it always stays cool, and there is enough space for lawn games.
I am so sorry about Sammy, Georgia. The garden sounds like a lovely tribute.
If I could only have 3 kinds of flowers in a garden, I would pick.....
-
pansies (my favorite), tulips, and Columbine.
Thanks so much, Ruth. ❤️ It is special and feels good to honor him that way, each year. Love the idea of your 4th of July!
My favorite wild life in my back yard is.....
-
reindeers, or at least that is what they look like to me. Saw them twice during the Christmas season last year, I thought that was magical.
Georgia, so sorry about the miscarriage. I had one 9 years ago and there are days that it still brings a tear. Glad you made a beautiful garden to commemorate him.
My least favorite thing about my yard is/are.......
-
The overgrown weeds which come easily because the previous owner had mulched and gardened the entire perimeter of the yard, which is too much for us to keep up with with 2 small children, the cancer, etc.
Awwww kiks the reindeer are totally magical!! I wish we had them!! So special!! And so sorry about your miscarriage. And thanks
I will post a pic of it when we plant the flowers this year. It is basically flowers planted all around a little tree.
One thing I dislike about my neighborhood is.....
-
We have a couple of neighbor's who are (ahem) difficult.
One of my favorite songs is....

Scarlet Ribbon sung by Harry Belafonte. If not familiar, Google it. Lyrics are so sweet and tender.
