That statement has had me thinking for quite a while here..... I guess I would say my boss at Standard Oil back in the late 60's. I graduated at 17 and took a job as a secretary. Mr. Warrington was actually the 2nd boss - we fit together like a hand in a glove. He was a handsome devil but I did not have a crush on him (the other secretaries were all gaga over him tho). He did so much for my self-confidence not only in my work skills but life in general. He always had the best advice....one of the smartest, kindest men I've ever known.

We always eat herring on New Year's Eve and Day. Not sure where this comes from but it's supposed to be good luck. I guess if you're still alive and kicking the next NYE, it worked.
(Faith, that's funny - I'm sure not at the time though)
We were in Palm Springs, CA for a NYE trip with my husband's cousin and her fiance. He insisted we go to the restaurant/lounge for a "spectacular" evening. Well, the food was cold and barely edible. Her and I went to the bathroom and came back to find they had whisked away our desserts,..about the only thing that was good. Next into the lounge which had 2 rooms, the bar was in one room and the place was holding about 100 people more than it should have had. Took almost an hour to get a drink which was watered down, couldn't dance since everyone was shoulder to shoulder. We finally fled, $200 poorer...stopped at a fast food place to eat and back to the condo to open a bottle of champagne and sit in the hot tub - the champagne was flat and the hot tub was cold. The other couple had such a bad fight, she broke off the engagement - we spent the next 2 days until the flight home in uncomfortable silence....MY WORST NYE EVER.
