How about 'Bridges of Madison County' when the Meryl Streep character has to choose between staying with her (boring) husband and running off with the Clint Eastwood character. She and her husband have been shopping in town. It is pouring down, and Eastwood is standing in the rain as they drive off. Her hand is just switching on the car door handle because she wants so much to open it and run off with her true love; she is in torment between doing what is right for her family and following her heart. She does not open the door, but sinks back in silent tears as the rain beats on the roof of the car........I went to this movie with some girlfriends and afterwards one of my friends mentioned how quiet it was at the end of the movie. 'Yes,' said another, more cynical friend, "all the women were in tears, and all the men were asleep."

    any more magical movie moments?

Maybe not magical but a scene I love is in the Blues Brothers movie.  Jake & Elwood are headed up in an elevator to pay taxes, listening to a Muzak version of the Girl from Ipanema.  Meanwhile, outside, all hell is breaking loose, with cops everywhere and SWAT forces rappelling down the side of the building, etc.  The contrast between the bedlam outside and the schmaltz inside is hilarious.

I LOVE the Blues Brothers!!! My favorite scene is right in the beginning when they embrace outside of the prison. What I love about it is that so much is that you can tell how much Dan A. and John B. really love each other as friends, and how much fun they have working and just being together.

    Any more?

So many movies so little time!

My favorite movie moment this month:  Pride and Predudice with Keira Knightley.  The very last scene.

Mr Darcy says "What shall I call you when I am angry, shall I call you Mrs Darcy?"  And Elizebeth says "No, you can only call me Mrs Darcy when you are perfectly and incandecently happy."  So he begins to kiss her cheek and says "Mrs Darcy"  Then kisses her other cheek and says "Mrs Darcy" and then her forhead and say "Mrs Darcy"  Then the grand ending as they kiss the kiss of all kisses together and the camera pans out.

Any more favorite movie moments out there?

    Lord of the Rings

When Sam and Frodo are leaving the Shire together for the first time.  Sam quietly stops and Frodo walks on until he notices Sam just standing there.  "What's wrong Sam?" he says, Sam replies "This step right here, will be the farthest I"ve ever been away from home."  He contemplates going forward.  But looks determinedly at Frodo and moves on.  He steps out into the unkown with his best friend.   (I love Sam Gamgee!)

    More, more, please....

The Princess Bride...Oh my so many wonderfully funny scenes.

I recall one in particular where Prince Humperdink shows off his unwilling prisoner bride to the villagers.  And as she steps out in a lovely gown, an ugly peasant woman steps forward and says "Bow down, to the queen of filth, the queen of slim, the queen of putrecense!"

Any more favorite movies or movie quotes?

I'm working on a LOTR seminar ... so I'm sorry that's all I've got tonight ... but the scene near the end of "Return of the King" after Aragorn gives a stirring speech right outside the gates of Mordor and they're all afraid ... and he says, "For Frodo" ... and it is the little hobbits that lead the charge.  Makes me cry everytime!

I'm loving the Princess Bride!  :))
