Hi Karen and Olivia. Hope you are resting and having a peaceful night.Good to hear the kidneys and bladder are normal. Hang in there ladies , it won't be long before they find out the root of the problem. The waiting , as always is tooooo long. I am praying for you. Gentle hugs to you both.

Very good news that the kidneys and bladder are okay. I know that has been a real concern since she does not seem to get much in the way of fluids down. Ugh...now we wait for the gastric results. Maybe the answer is there. Know that you are all in my prayers. I just can't tell you how many times a day I think of Olivia. Karen - please, please take good care of yourself. {{Hugs}}

Jumping on this ever, bigger band wagon of wishing & praying & urging your medical team to find the crux of the problem.
Olivia, you've been under-going so much..... all of which is unpleasant and scary. All of us here, the "Olivia-Aunties" are so very proud of you for doing your absolute best in the face of all that hurts and frightens you.
We are all gathered round, sending you the warmth of spring-time's arrival to encourage you in the midst of all that is so very yucky. Are you keeping a diary? I think this would make a great book when it's all figured out. You're a smart young woman and I think a book from your perspective would be such a great addition to the library -- offering other young children some hope.
Know that we are all here with you and your mom.

You know what else would be great in your up-coming book?? Draw some pictures right now of how you're feeling. I know how much I appreciate the illustrations that come in books. It would be great for you to document this time with pictures and even 'cartoon' drawings of your feelings, emotions and the process that you are under-going. It will bring your book to life for those who have the opportunity to read it.

Karen - have they done a capsule endoscopy (which takes about a zillion pictures of the entire gastrointestinal tract or tried her on Reglan?
One of my sisters was in terrible shape for months until she got to the right GI doc who put her on Reglan (she had slow emptying stomach).
Just a suggestion.
-
Karen, and Olivia, I heard of your story via e-mail yesterday. That's when I found this site! What a wonderful way for fellow prayer warriors to share thoughts and prayers! I will be putting the 2 of you on my church prayer list and sunday school prayer list. I hope ya'll have a great Saturday. God is still in the business of answering our prayers! God Bless!
-
Wondeful news on the kidney and bladder scans! As they figure out what it isn't, they are getting closer to what it is. Just wish that they would HURRY UP!!

More prayers on the way for the both of you!
Jennifer

Olivia... I hope your weekend is going good and you are having a little bit of fun!
-
Prayers for a restful weekend. Hoping that this beautiful weather will raise your spirits.
-
I'm so glad the kidney and bladder ultrasounds were normal! Eventually, they're going to be able to pinpoint what's going on with dear little Olivia.
Hugs and prayers for Olivia, Karen and your whole family!

Oh Daff, what a perfect picture!

Olivia will start tomorrow with a "home bound teacher" This teacher will come after school gets out everyday to help Olivia catch up. She is now 6 weeks behind. UUgghhh! It is a female teacher from her school, so that is good. Plus, she will get with Olivia's teachers to know exactly what needs to be caught up rather than me getting it, and then telling her.....
I am hoping this raises her spirits. She is really down in the dumps for all she is missing. It has been BEAUTIFUL here this weekend with temps in the low 70's. Normally, I can't keep her inside on days like these. But she just feels too yuck and weak to be outside.
I am sooooo praying that scan showed SOMETHING that we can treat and get back to living normal. I am so scared that is wont and this will just continue on......and on......and on.......
Thanks again for the kind words, prayers and cute pics!!

Prayers and hugs!

Karen we are praying also and will keep praying
-
Karen, We are all holding our breath for an answer with you. Just wishing it would HURRY for you... Many of us are moms (mine are all grown and married) and it's hard to watch your kids hurt.
-
I pray the dear Lord gives you the answers soon!
-
I pray that you get some answers soon. Glad to hear that the teacher will be coming to the house. Olivia, I know all your friends miss you at school and you miss them so we all want to to get well soon so you can get back to hanging with your friends and especially dancing.
Have a blessed week
-
May this be the day for more answers than questions.
Merciful and gracious God, hear our prayers.
((((((((((((((((((((Olivia))))))))))))))))))))))))

Please let this be the week of discovery!! Gentle hugs Olivia to you and your family.

Karen / Olivia - I haven't posted in a while, but that doesn't mean that I am not thinking and praying for you both! Take care. - Jean

Karen, just wanted to let you know that my whole church is praying for Olivia. I also wanted to let her know that when I was in the 5th grade, I went to Cleveland Clinic Feb 27 and returned home Mar 31 without schooling. When I returned home I was in a full body cast and no way to attend school. My mom filled out the paperwork for the home bound teacher and my teacher came out 2 times a week and by the end of school I had the 2nd highest test score in my class on the EOG testing.

UUGGHHHHH!!!! Boy, I wish this was a different type of post. But her GI doc called this morning saying the scans were "normal". NOT what I wanted to hear, especially since I had been up since 3:15am with her because of nausea.
So I have called Wake Forrest University Medical Center and spoke with Dr. Koch's secretary. He is the doctor who has done research and identified "gastric dysrhythmias" of the stomach in people with unexplained chronic nausea. She said Dr. Koch doesn't see children, but he has a partner that is the pediatric GI doc. So she told me how to get in to see him.
I have an appointment this Wednesday with her regular pediatrician and if he has no other ideas or suggestions, I am going to get him to do a "urgent referral" so that I can get her up there asap. She has now missed 6 weeks of school and dance, and 3 weeks of church, and is getting real depressed and I can see a look in her eye of feeling hopeless!
I don't care WHAT is causing it, I need someone to either make her symptoms go away or find the cause and make it go away.

(((HUGS))) and prayers still coming your way
