Getting a color and low lights on Friday!!! I'm not going to trim it anymore, I want it to grow out now.
-
I think Herceptin makes my hair grow slower too, but I haven't noticed any thinning. I am 4 1/2 months PFC and my hair is about 3/4 inch. It is thick, but very fine and soft. My mom says the texture is the same as when I was baby. I'll try to post a pic.. Now my eyelashes and brows are thinning a bit which I hear is normal, but certainly unwelcome!
-
Homemom. Good for you! Will your stylist use semi permanent or permanent hair color? -
It's been 10 months since my last haircut and last chemo was Sep 18. Here are today's pre and post haircut photos
-
Looking great, Puffin!!
-
Puffin, thanks thanks for the motivation for patience! Looking great
-
Mom mom - permanent. Doc just looked at me and said "Well it's long enough that's for sure"
Puffin - we are on the same "schedule" - my last chemo was Sept 5th and even though I've had a trim, my hair isn't as long as yours. Mine is so curly!
-
looks great Puffin

Why do pictures always seem to come out good in the car for me?. The lighting is right I guess and the light through the sunroof makes my hair look nice and shiny. 1 yr PFC btw. A few haircuts already and a trim today. Naturally curly (this is pulled out by hairdresser with curling iron)and yes once it came in I decided to stop coloring it and this is what I have! And I keeping it gray/white
-
thanks. My hair seems to be growing. I massage my scalp with tea tree oi
-
I have been so down the last few days, beautiful weather, and i i just hate not having any hair... its now almost 11 weeks since last chemo .. am i being too impatient?
-
Candy, do you have fuzz>. ? Which chemo?
-
Hi Toby, yes, i have some fuzz, and some male pattern baldness going on, the fuzz is mostly around my ears. I was on A/C for four sessions, and then on Taxotere for four sessions, last one was on February 24... maybe it seems so long ago because it was literally freezing out then, and it was 90 here today.
-
ok ladies, due to toxicity my onc and team said no more chemo! That means I was finished at #4 on 4/22. Where's my hair? I was on the dreaded taxotere n just wanna know that it's gonna grow back. So Wednesday coming will make 3 weeks post. I've always had fuzz. But lately I feel like those miscellaneous straggle hairs have gotten longer. It's really hard to tell. I've also read that those who've suffered permanent alopecia have abnormal thyroid levels and once that's in check hair grows.
-
MaryJC: I started seeing real growth around 6 weeks PFC. Are you continuing Herceptin tx? My feeling is it slows hair growth a bit.
-
thanks daisy! Yes I have herceptin until February.
-
Candy, I have used biotin religiously and also rogaine for women. I do think it has helped. I had fuzz in February, and about an inch, someplaces inch and a half now. I am thinking it will take a year total for me to be able to go wigless.
-
Lisa, you look GREAT: that is somehow how I vision my hair at one year. special thanks as I have (had) bangs like yours: they are really curly now but if I pull them down maybe an inch
-
Hi girls. What is PFC? I just got a new scarf today. It is so pretty. I bought a lot from TLC, but this is from 4women, or something like that. It's silk and so shimmery. The TLC ones are all cotton, and they're ok; but this is shimmery. LOL.
I don't think I'm going to look good bald. Sone people do. My bff did. One of her friends put it perfectly: it brings out the pretty in your face. Isn't that nice?
I still have mine. I'm not sure when I'll lose it. I get my 2nd treatment Monday. As always the waiting and wondering is tough. At this point, I'm not terribly upset. I hope it stays that way.
-
Dunes: I guess you aren't doing the AC? I am not sure when you lose on Taxol. I know on AC it is about day 14-17.
-
Dune - Taxotere (and I assume Taxol) usually causes hair loss around day 14. Are you on an every 3 week schedule? PFC is post final chemo. Your scarf sounds lovely. I mostly used Buffs - tubes that you can wear 15 different ways. Local stores like Academy and REI carry a great variety or you can order on line.
-
I will check them out MinusTwo.
My schedule is once a week for 3 weeks and the 4th week off. I'm taking a very special vacation that 4th week (of this cycle). I get this feeling that I will lose my hair on that vacation. But thank you. I won't even think about it for this next week.
Trvler, no AC. Hopefully she is being aggressive enough.
Best wishes to all of you!
-
Dune - the 14 day prediction works for Taxotere every 3 weeks, so I lost my hair 14 days after the first treatment. Maybe Taxol is different since the doses surely must be less for once a week, but sounds like you're OK for today & tomorrow. Maybe somebody who took the Taxol weekly will be able to give better answers.
-
My MO says the hair comes back during Taxol (after 4 AC treatments) - that is true isn't it??
-
I did weekly taxol only (no AC) and my hair went at about the 3 week mark. I didn't lose all of it, though - I shaved it off when it started to fall out and have had a thin stubble ever since. Some of it is growing a little. I'm definitely mostly bald, though.
-
Thanks Toby, I am also using woman's Rogaine and taking biotin (i started the biotin while on Taxotere since my nails started to fall off) it has helped my nails, they are growing really fast. I am trying to be patient, i laugh at myself on occasion, it took 10 days from when i got my first AC for the hair to fall out completely, i want it to grow back that fast. Today I did the Race for the Cure in Pittsburgh and was able to talk to a few women about our experiences, and do feel a little better about my hair. I know its minor, but it seems to be a focus point for me. Like if my hair is growing back, I really am better..
-
BosumBlues, I'm so sorry to hear that you are going thru more issues with your hair and with the drugs. It does seem that the more I try to control something the less I can.... I don't know if I will ever be my old self, only hoping i can be happy with the new self
-
ThePrincess- I had 4 A/C and had # 3 of 12 weekly Taxol yesterday. Shaved head at 21 days after first A/C. There is a tiny bit of spiky growth in top of my head now. My MO said my hair would most likely start to grow back during Taxol but how can that be if others lose their hair when they start with it? Anyway, eyelashes and brows have been thinning for a couple of weeks. Ugh. Praying they at least hang on until after my D's HS graduation on the 29th!
Best wishes for speedy hair growth to us all!!
-
got Brow Power from IT. Innovation technologies. Its a great pencil to fill in the brows without looking like they are drawn on with a magic marker.
-
My hair did start to grow towards the end of Taxol but it was very fine and white. I didn't lose my eyebrows and eyelashes until the very end of Taxol. I am about 10 weeks out now and hair is growing strong and eyebrows and eyelashes are back if still a bit short.
Good Luck
