Carol1948... I have heard that everyone is on a different growth schedule... Are you on any meds?
-
Sorry Missy but no pictures of me anytime soon. I do not want a single picture to remind me of this awful year!
-
Today... finished chemo May 10, so 4.5 months PFC
-
I will try to post pictures tomorrow...officially 9weeks PFC tomorrow.
Had a bad day after waking up in a bad mood today. I just want my hair back, my weight off and a break.

Ladies, I saw a hairdresser today for a preliminary consultation regarding hair extensions. My hair is still barely an inch long and she said I would probably need to wait another 8 weeks or so for them to be able to apply extensions.
The method that the salon uses does not use glues, tapes, heat etc but, from what I understand, threads your own hair into the top band of the extension weft. Apparently, this method is gentler on hair and quicker to apply. There is also a piece that they can custom make to cover the crown which is clipped in.
The company that supplies the extensions is Australian and based in Perth on the west coast. I am on the east coast but coincidentally the rep is going to be in my city next Monday and I have booked a consultation with her to discuss in more detail what is possible, especially in relation to the custom made crown piece.
I don't know details yet of cost or maintenance but I will keep you updated. The website for the supplier is beverlymay.com.au .

ROFL lago!
-
bdavis, you look fabulous! i LOVE your hair! i know you want your long hair back, but for now, i really love the way you look.
-
Bdavis - your hair looks amazing! Can't wait for mine to be that long, so I can be done with the faux hawk look...a couple of my teen students were comparing theirs to mine today, a competition I started 3 wks ago. Little turds are winning...
-
Betsy, looks great! You are totally rockin' it, girl!
Lago, LOL! They'd take one look at my (lack of) hair and know it wasn't me, though! Or, they'd assume the stuff just doesn't work and feel sorry for me!
-
Betsy, looking good!!! Lago, LOL!!!!
-
LOL, Lago...now that is desperation at its finest!
-
bdavis wow your hair is so cute! i like the color too.
lago toooo funny, desperate woman!
I would post pics but have such a hard time getting one by myself holding the camera out, need to have one of my kids home.
-
Lago so funny! thanks for the laugh this am!
-
Thanks ladies... ok.. I have to admit... I went to Chicago and I am guilty... It was me... Please don't turn me in Lago...
-
And you didn't meet me for lunch! BTW I too think you are looking great. Can't decide which I like better, long or short.
-
When I get low on this stash and come back, I will call...LOL
Thanks... I am a long fan on me for sure... the short is easy though... I am not looking forward to the transition stage... especially with all the curls... I am naturally wavy so I am hoping gravity takes over a bit.. cause I can handle wavy.
-
Betsy, your eyes really pop with the short hair! I think it looks darling, loving the color. I am one week behind you, but think I'm further behind on growth
It must be all that Rogaine you got in Chicago.
I'll try to post pics, I'm going to see my hair gal tomorrow to see what she says about color, trim, etc. I keep having DH shave the bottom of my neck so it looks more like a hair cut and less like a grow out.

Eyebrow question
Afternoon, ladies! I have an eyebrow question (seems related to hair, so I came here).
I am 12 DAYS PFC (wootie woot woot!), and while I did not loose all of my eyebrows, I lost a good share of them. Did any of you experience this, and if so, how long did it take for them to come back? Did they come back completely?
Mine were already on the thin-side to begin with (thanks, Mom!
), but I'm curious about the experience of others.
Thanks! Martha
-
I lost most of my brows, and then one day they were back, like at less than 2 month PFC
-
Oooo, that's encouraging, Betsy! Thanks!
-
marthahmy eyebrows thinned on chemo but not too bad. Then 5 weeks PFC they thinned even more along with the eyelashes but I was never without. My lashes actually are thinner now than on chemo almost 8 months PFC and brows still thin but not too bad. My onc says it can take a while for this to all get back to normal. When I asked she said my eyebrows looked fine. I laughed and told her I fill them in.
I highly recommend Anastasia brow powder duo. So far everyone I've recommended it to loves it. Very natural looking (fooled my onc and she's female). It lasts a long time too.
-
marthah - I use an Anastasia product also that is a mascara-like brow gel that is tinted. You just comb it through your brows (or what is left of them) and it darkens the hairs. My brows thinned but I didn't lose them completely. I lost all the bottom lashes and the majority of the top ones. I had about 4 or 5 top lashes on each eye. Lashes are growing back now but pretty slowly. I had 1 bottom lash on the right that was long so I gave it a haircut the other night, so now it matches the new ones growing in.
-
carol1948 - when you say nothing has grown back do you mean absolutely nothing or you just have fuzz?
-
martah - I lost every single eyebrow hair and every single eyelash. It was difficult, but I'm not 11 weeks PFC tomorrow and I've had full eyebrows for 4 weeks and my lashes are thick, just not quite their original length. You will be amazed at how fast they come in!
-
i had brows till middle of taxol.. then they started coming out, lashes too, bit by bit but for me it seemed that was the first thing to start growing back after chemo was finished
-
Marthah - I lost all lashes and almost all my eyebrows. I couldn't believe how fast they came back. Think I had "5 o'clock eyebrow shadow" at like 4 weeks. Then they were back to normalish looking within a couple weeks. eyelashes within a couple weeks too, although it's taken till now (13 weeks) for them to grow all the way out.
Betsy - lookin' great. You're making me a little less scared about the prospect of chemo curls...the waves look really cool and lovely on you.
Ok, let's get some hair pictures rolling. Mine doesn't seem to be getting much longer, but it's almost totally filled in on the sides and feels thick again. yay. you can sorta see my eyelashes in this too. 13 weeks pfc:
-
I lost every brow hair and all but 4 lashes on each eye. I finished chemo the end of June and my brows have all grown back in YEAH! I have plucked them twice already!!! The lashes are coming in nice and thick, but not back to prechemo length yet. I was just thinking today how glad I am to have my brows back again.
