Well, here I am...thought I'd be bald as a baby's butt by now. Nope, I am going for AC #4 in a few minutes and I have stubble and chemo hair. So will it grow on Taxol? Or will it all fall out? I guess it's a crapshoot!
Carrol - your hair looks fabulous!

I love the story about the towels and pretending to have long hair! I used to have a little red petticoat, would put that on my head and pretend I had long hair. The nurse said today that I should see some fuzz at about three weeks PFC, and now I'm at two. I will be checking!

My hair started to grow while on TAXOL but it was that fuzzy hair that had no color to it. I sit here now 8 1/2 months from my last Taxol and I have a full head of hair, it is thick, wavy and very healthy. It did come back mostly grey but a trip to the salon took care of that when I was 2 months out from Chemo. I feel for all of you and can relate to what you are experiencing. I began Chemo the 2nd of August last year and starting noticing my hair falling out on Aug 16. On August 19 I had my hairdresser come to the house and shave it off. It was hard and I hope to never go back to that time in my life, but I survived and now looking back it amazes me how fast it grew back. Keep the faith it will all be soon just a memory. I don't think I would have made it through all of it without my friends here. God Bless.

So i am 10 weeks PFC? I am losing track... Since being topless in hospital and having no energy, just went out today to eat with no wig, no scarf... Nothing. Not sure if I'll be able to keep up the toplessness when I get back to my home state (traveled for surgery).
-
Well my first picture in over a year. Went out and bought the dye and used it. Still have the curls but at least I'm not white now.
-
wow Anderkk1 I have a bump too, but mine is in the front. So I make an ugly bald person too!
-
Amy... I was at the center today after I fell and they gave me your card... Thank you so much!
-
I had my son buzz mine back again since I was beginning to lose what had grown out. I'm two weeks PFC. I thought this would give it a chance to come in even. I had lost hair last month after it had grown some, so my hair had long pieces and short pieces. I'm hoping it will come in darker, I had the white fuzz going on, so it wasn't so bad losing it.
-
Judy_63 I did the same thing 2 weeks PFC because the fuzzy hair I had was really weird. It was colorless and looked terrible. After that the hair grew really fast and seems healthy. I'm 8 weeks PFC now and in those 6 weeks since I buzzed it, it has grown with my normal color. However, I will say that the back and sides came in a little bit faster than the top/front.
-
Thanks dragonfly, that really gives me hope mine will come back a little darker. Although I did have a lot of gray in my natural hair before chemo, but colored it.
-
Ksmatthews: that's funny that you have a bump too. My brother offered to shave is head in support but said he has too ugly of a head to do it!
. Oh well, soon enough we will have hair again and our bumps will be hidden.
Yamahamama: I need to try that nioxin. I have nothing yet other than the same wispy strands I never lost. -
I met AimeeMac last night. It was great. She looks terrific in her short hair.
-
My hair is all over the place, It's almost all out any way. Think today will be the day I shave it all off. then I can plan a trip to the beach for those henna tats. LOL
-
anderkk1: I have wispy strands I never lost too, but nothing else yet, a little over 2 wks. PFC. At one time I thought I had little hairs growing in, but I'm thinking it was just hair that had broken off. Wasn't there a song--So tired, tired of waitin', Tired of waitin' for you...Hair that is.

Jen1832 - I'm 7 weeks PFC and my hair looks a lot like yours!
-
Pejkug3 - mine is thicker in the back and starting to darken. I am normally a sunstreaked brunette with only a few grays. This white fluff is so odd. The texture is just starting to change to a stiffer feel. If i had as much coverage in the front as I do in the back, I would go topless for sure.
-
Jen1832, I am SO jealous!!!! I am 3.5 weeks PFC, and there is NO WAY I'll have that much hair at 7 weeks out!!! I even had *some* growing before my FC. Fantastic!!!!
-
I met lago for Dinner in Chicago on Wednesday - what a great time! She is a beautiful lady (no surprise) and it was so nice to connect face to face with someone on the boards. Thanks for the great time!
-
blushes. Thanks Aimee but you're beautiful too… I really mean it. That avatar has got to go girl. It just doesn't do you justice. Can't wait for you to come back to Chicago!
-
I reached a milestone in my hair growth. It's now past my eyebrows! Woopee!!! I need to take more pics. However, I haven't been styling it much since I had a hyst/ooph and recovering this past week. I barely have enough energy to take a shower!
-
My hair is starting to shed more. I'm not sure if that's from the mega dose of anesthesia from surgery or if it's finally shedding a bit since it grew in from chemo. It's not a lot of hair, but I see it in my finger and brush after I wash it.
-
I am now 8 wks PFC and my hair is finally getting darker and filling in..it really changed a lot in the 6 to 8 week mark..I'd post pics..but my camera broke..it's been hot in the bay area and I have been going out in baseball caps..another thing is I really know what people meant about their brows appearing overnight..one day I had zero and the next day I woke up I had dark areas for brows..no hair..looked like dirt actually..but within 2 days after almost full brows..and needed tweezing..wow..my back is still longer and thicker than the top..but the top is finally filling in..hoping in another 2 weeks I can go without the cap
-
I got my first haircut today!! Kind of a Pixie cut, with Redken #6 to take advantage of my curls (which I always had). I rode my motorcycle there so it got messed up right away, but it was a good feeling!!
-
Jen your hair looks great for 6 weeks..and so do your brows! I wish my top was like my back too!
-
Looking good Dawn!..can't wait to get a hair cut and color at some point...still wondering if I will have curls..have a wave in the back now but wonder if it's from the hats
-
Dawn - you look gorgeous!
I've got to admit, I like being bald.. . . takes 2 seconds to get ready every day, saves a ton of money on products and I don't have to worry about what the weather is like, just a bit of soap and go! I think I may keep it super super short when it starts coming back. I'm just really liking it. I dread having to go back to taking care of hair again . . .
-
Jen, your growth is great for 7 weeks. I am 13 weeks pfc and have about the same length.
Kittycat, I highly recommend Nioxin to reduce hair shedding. It definitely worked for me pre-chemo.
-
CarylC - I am kind of with you on the staying short idea. I have always had shoulder length, really thick hair. When I FINALLy get a pixie, I might just keep it for a while. I save about 45 minutes getting ready for work. It will be nice, however, not to have to match my headcovernings with my clothes....
Thanks to you all for the encouragement. Hair loss and regrowth is really a difficult thing to go through.
-
So...10 weeks PFC and since surgery last week have gone topless just cuz of hospital... In a city where I won't run into people I know etc and got TWO hair compliments today... Go figure.
