Carrol2 - I haven't seen your picture in a while because I have drifted away from this thread, but I must agree with others, your hairstyle looks fabulous on you. I too prefer it to your former style. You look gorgeous!
-
Carrol2 - I'm ok to look in the mirror at myself and "style" my hair with product, but I'm the same as you....when I see a picture someone else has taken like at a party or race or something, I hate how I look. I think you look fantastic....but I think we will always miss our old selves, that easy pre-cancer time! We never asked for this giant make-over.
-
Funny but every time I look in the mirror I think I look as good as you marje. We're sporting the same style (granted I cut mine a bit shorter on the sides and back). Change is hard for most people. I personally am not too upset about the hair. Granted I was never to upset about losing in the first place but I really wish the eyebrows/lashes would come back to normal and the chia face would go away.
Congrats on becoming a great auntie. Look at all that hair.
-
I have dust bunny hair and now maybe 4 eyelashes on my right eye, but almost all lashes on the left. Totally ridiculous.
-
Hi Carrol2 Just would like to say you look so good. I love the darker hair on you. It is growing in so nice. SharonH
-
Dominika, you look radiant, healthy, and beautiful!!!!
check out my progress, and my new "red" hair!! I dyed it 2 days ago, and I love it!!!

I have about a quarter of an inch (or maybe a little less) and love seeing your pix! Carrol, I don't what your hair looked like before, but I think you look great! I had really straight, fine hair before and never liked it, I am hoping for curly, thick hair. I had pretty light colored hair before too. Kind of a mixture of light brown, dark blonde, and red together. It seems to be coming back dark though. Did anyone get a different hair color when it came back? I got a lot of compliments on my wig (it's in the pic). I really do like the color. It is close to what I had, but more vibrant and a little lighter. I never died my hair before, but I think I will get it to the color of the wig. I like it so much. Doninkia, love your pic and yours to Angel Baby! The red hair looks great! It is encouraging me to try to die mine too. So excited to see some hair and eyelashes and eyebrows coming back. I lost every single one. They don't seem to be coming back quickly, but I am only 7 days PFC, so I kind of consider myself lucky to be seeing a little. I could feel the stubble starting after my second taxotere. I lost every single strand with AC. Keep posting and encouraging those who are earlier in the process! You're all great.
-
marje What a beautiful baby...my hair is growing just like hers...straight up!
Dragonfly..your hair is coming in very nicely...its dark..willl you keep it dark or go blonde like your avatar?
Carrol the short hair is great on you, so believe what your friends are saying. Everyone is telling me the same thing and that I should keep it this way, but I also dont feel like myself with such short hair...I feel naked, and dont like the back of my neck showing. I was thinking some highlights might help soon cause mine is such a dull brown with a funny dry, dull texture.
-
hdanglebaby forgot to click on your link before posting. I am likeing the red...very shiny...I need to do something to boost my color and get some shine...dont know what yet.
-
Kay my hair was dark brown. It came in with more gray on the sides and black! Even my eyebrows turned black. I color it now but my eyebrows are still black. I'm over 6 months PFC. I hear that it can take 18 months for your old hair color and texture to come back although I think what ever turned gray may stay.
-
Okay - so I am now 4 weeks PFC and NOTHING. AAARGH! Last night I broke down and shaved the one-inch long wispy strands I had never lost in the hopes that I will better recognize growth when I get it. Just spent a long weekend not being able to fully play with my 3-year old in the pool because of the wig (we were with my husband's work associates so I didn't feel comfortable going topless). I am so tired of being bald. Here's hoping my hair starts to grow soon!!!!!
-
Carberry I've had blonde highlighted hair for years but I think I'm going to go with my natural color for a while since this is a good opportunity. I'm rather surprised at the amount of gray that's coming in (I just turned 42) so I may need to do something about that! I've done so many things with my hair over the years. When I met my DH 9 years ago I had short spiked hair so luckily the short hair is not too much of an adjustment for me. He prefers it long-we'll see...
Lago I know what you mean about the color change. Although the hair on my head seems to be my natural color, my eyebrows (what's left of them) have a lot of reddish brown in them-weird! My eyelashes are almost completely gone now. I've been using eyeliner to create some definition around my eyes. Otherwise, I just look ghostly. I had one very insensitive colleague who decided that she needed to comment on my loss of eyebrows and eyelashes. She said, "well it does make you look rather pale-you know, alien-like". I think she could have kept that to herself. Well, I have a great sense of humor and so does DH, so he took this pic of me with the fish-eye lense on our camera-Ha! You have to laugh...we laughed until we were absolutely hysterical!!!

Hi girls
Sorry been swamped with work stuff.
I am so much enjoying all the photos! Especially the grand-niece of Marije:) Sooo cute!
I will be 14 wk PFC on Thurs. I am still wearing scarf to work, though it's almost time to go topless. Just not quite ready yet...
Please keep posting pics ladies...you are all such an inspiration!
Oh and Dragonfly--LOL at the fisheye lens
-
Dragonfly, so funny!!
Kay1963, I also had fine straight hair prior to chemo, looks like thicker but still straight and I am almost 14 weeks post chemo. Still wearing wig to the office.
My eyebrows and lashes are growing like crazy, but so is the fuzz which is dark on the sides of my face. Anyone try the prescription hair remover cream?? I have forgotten the name, but remember it being advertised last year for facial hair.
-
Christine, I didn't try the hair remover, but i did shave it just once. I was kind of leary to do it but i couldn't stand it anymore as i have dark hair and it never grew back.
Dragonfly, Ha Ha Ha i love it!!
I love seeing all the pictures of everyones hair growth, lookin good!!
Don't know what to do with mine, i have had two haircuts, but it is soooo curley and thick. It feels like wool
Has anyone tried the keritin treatment to relax the curls a little? not sure how long my hair has to be for that though. Anyone know?
Pam

Dragonfly - I maintained all the way thru that I looked like an alien! Love that pic, it's perfect. Definitely a good sense of humour helps you through
. I always thought it was funny because no matter how horrid I looked, whenever people would see me they would go on and on about how wonderful I looked....I knew they were trying to boost me up and make me feel better, but I appreciated the days where I crawled out of bed, down for a coffee and my DH would say "Wow you look like crap today" LOL.
-
Dragonfly, I love it!!!
My DH says he love my hair - it is short, curly, salt & pepper - a color I never liked in my whole life and wasn't sure that's what I would have by now anyway. So he is not here, my dear sister helped me pick out one of those temporary 28-day kits in a color we both think I would look good in. Am not happy with the style, but it's too short to do much with it right now, so I wll be happy with a good color. One step at a time, trying to figure out the image I want to be.
-
Dragonfly1, please tell me you printed that one out to take and show that insensitive #&*@$! Love it!
marjie, couldn't agree more....appreciated that people were trying to be nice, but knowing the whole time that they were probably thinking "blech!".....on my chemo days my husband would just look at me and pout or give me a "oh Honey", which I appreciated even more that he didn't sugar coat it and tell me I looked good. There were times when I looked like absolute crap, a lovely shade of chemo-green, and someone would say I looked so good. If I would roll my eyes or something and they would ask why, I would say "oh come on, what else are you going to say? You aren't going to tell me I look like hell". I guess those were my "leave me alone" kind of days....but it really helps me to realize the things I now say to other people.
-
Marj, I love the picture of the new baby ...so beautiful
-
7 months now, I am hoping now that I had my last herceptin last Fri. it will start coming in faster.
-
Dragonfly....love the pic. My daughter has app on her iPod where you take a pic and then you can distort it to look so funny. My mom, brother and me had so much fun taking pics of each other and changing our faces.
-
IowaSue, you just keep popping up all over! LOL! A former co-worker of mine moved back to Iowa a couple of years ago, and she just posted a picture of that pink tractor yesterday on Facebook! I recognized the tractor from one of your posts a while back! Small, small world...
-
Keep the photos coming, they are fabulous. hdangelbaby, you have so much hair! Love the color. dragonfly, great alien impersonation! IowaSue, what a great picture; you look so confident and have so much hair at 7 months!
My hair at 8 1/2 weeks pfc is almost 1/2 inch long, growing in uniformly all around. I go topless at home, and put nioxin hair gel in it after I wash it. Of course because its so short the top just stands up, and sort of parts itself on the side kind of like marjie's. Yesterday my DH said it looked like carpet. Lol. It was a good description and we had a good laugh over that.
My eyebrows thinned considerably pfc and are now slowly starting to come back in. I sat by the window and looked at them in my 10x magnifying mirror and realized they are a little higher on my face than I had been penciling/brushing them in. I had been filling them in too low and thin. Now when I fix them according to the hair growth starting to come in, they look more natural.
-
Pam... yesterday I cut, using scissors the facial hair... laid the scissors on my skin and clipped.... and it took off the bulk... Mine was all blond, so not that noticeable, but long enough to cut... I have also plucked some, but would be afraid to shave.... I am glad to hear once you shaved it it never came back. Isn't this just alll so much fun???
-
I have more hair growing on my face than my head! What the heck? NOT FAIR!
-
Omg mama! My cheeks have heavy white fuzz and chin and lip have a few gorgeous thick black hairs but my eyebrows are pathetic! Also, does anyone know when the color will settle into a permanent state? I have some hairs that are half black and half white. Freaky.
-
I am 11 weeks PFC and have enough hair to go into public... it is thick but boy-short... and the color? Mostly taupe, with some white... I am going tomorrow to have the stray hairs trimmed and colored more one color.... not liking the facial hair, blond or not, it isn't right.
-
At almost 9 weeks PFC you can still see all of my scalp and I have just a few lashes on my right eye, more on left eye, but with gaps. Brows are thinner but still there.
-
K-lo my hair is all crazy colors too! Is this going to fall out or grow out with half colors?? Freaky is right!
How come it can't grow back as fast as it fell out? -
MamaV, it's kind of like weight. How come it is so easy to gain but so darn difficult to take off!
I've been reading, and not posting much, but I just want to say that the hair pics are fantastic, you all look great: bikenyc, Carrol2, IowaSue, Dominika, Lago, Marjie, Jen1832, Dawn33137, Kittycat, hdangelbaby (the red is fabulous). But the best by far is dragonfly1! Love the alien look. When my sister visited me last year during chemo, we did the same thing, I looked for the pictures but I must have deleted them.
My avatar picture was taken at 23 weeks PFC, I guess it's time for another one. On August 10 it will be one year.
