cooka, Thanks!  When it rains it pours doesn't it?  Hopefully it wasn't too hot when you had to walk :-).  I'm so happy our weather is getting cooler.  It may make the chemo/wig/RO driving, etc. more bearable.  Summers are just so rough... even when you are healthy.

I met Dr. Paul.  He was my 2nd opinion and I liked him a lot.  He was very straight forward, told me the science of everything and recommended the TCx4.  I had good vibes from him, but he was a lot further then my Mesa MO, so I stuck with Mesa since I liked the nurses there.

Hey Ladies, just dropping in to say a quick little hello, been off of the boards for a bit.  Whats up EBANN........how did your scan go?  Good news I hope. Hope everyone is well.  I am up to my neck in Soccer with my son, so I am sure I wont be attending the next event.  We actually have games in Tucson all this weekend......fun times!

Hi, I was wondering what was going on in Sedona in November?  Special place to stay?  Thanks - your neighbor in Tucson.

Hi Meek, just got a call today and my tumor markers are down. Yay!!! See my Dr. on Wednesday and hopefully we will have a PET scan scheduled. I am looking at the end of this month the beginning of October. I am not one for scans but this time I want one cause I would like to see how well the chemo is working. Thanks for checking on me. I am sure that socceer will be a lot nicer when the  weather is cooler.

Omaz, I was just discussing that with one of the girls whether or not we want to stay a night up there. I think i will probably get a number of ladies and have them vote whether they want to turn around or stay. Hopefully i will know more next month. When I have planned  Sedona it has never worked out. Hoping this time it happens.

Ebann - my DH is a GM at three local timeshares in Sedona...it is possible I can get a really good rate for a 2 bedroom condo in Sedona (sleeps 8-10 depending on the resort) if you don't mind bunking together Laughing

I will have him check availability tomorrow... we are still looking at November 19th for Sedona, right? I'll pm you the resort links

For those who go to ABC for RADS or are planning to... check out this new research that talks about not radiating the internal mammary nodes.  MBCS, No Help From Node Radiation in Breast Cancer.  Cool Stuff!  Glad Dr. K is one of the dudes who was in on this.  At least AZ isn't that backwards of a state in research :-).

Sorry I missed nail day.  My feet are scary, and I have to wear open toe shoes this weekend for a wedding.  Hello hastily-done-at-home pedicure. Surprised

Oh my gosh, I asked about attending the September event, then had too much stuff come up.  Bad week that week.

I really do need to get out of the house more and having ladies who know what I've been through would be awesome.

Anyone walking in the Susan G. Komen walk this Sunday?  My best friend is a 5 year survivor so we're going to try and make it to the 6:30 Survivor's Walk.  Way early for me.  We'll see!

Burley sorry to hear that you had a bad week. Sorry I have not responded earlier. I have been in Vegas. Home recuperating now. I have chemo tomorrow. I am not doing the walk this year. I would not make it I barely made in Vegas rested most of Sunday and was back at the condo in the afternoons and back at 10 pm. I am just not the same with my leg/hip. But you know I am going to have fun no matter what. Hope to see you at our next few events coming up.

Hi Ladies,   Time for your October get together. We have planned a Tea Party. Karen Stuart has kindly offered her home. She we need to get a confirmed count so we can plan accordingly. We are looking at everyone bringing something to eat. I will set out a list of some wonderful ideas of what to eat. I will supply the teapots.  This year I would like everyone to bring in their own tea cup. I would love to hear why it is your favorite, what year does it go back too, and where you got it from. If you have a hat bring one! It does not matter what it looks like it is just for fun. Dress comfortable. If someone is traveling you are more than welcome to carpool with me. I am just off the I-17 and Union Hills Dr. real easy to find.  I can take 3 passengers.

Get together: Tea Party Location: Karen Stuart's Home (will PM the address, phone,  & email if you post you are coming)

    Time (TBD)

List of foods,Cucumber Tea SandwichesEgg Salad Tea SandwichesCream Cheese Tea Sandwich MuffinsSconesLemon Curd/Butter/JamsFruit SaladPetit Fours - ElizabethVariety of Teas - Elizabeth and anyone else can bring some teas they may enjoyKaren I can also provide a card table and chair if need be. Thank you Karen for offering your home to us. Let's work on a time for out get together. November we are planning our Sedona trip. We are looking at November 19th. Michelle has offered a stay over in Sedona at a timeshare. http://vrivacations.com/resorts/vos/index.html#UnitAmenities she has the place available from the 18th to the 21st if you are up to staying. Michelle has reserved two condo's that will sleep 8 people. I will just be spending one night there an that will be Saturday. We can all plan to get up and have breakfast on Sunday. The resort has a kitchen and we can all bring something for breakfast and make it there. I am more than happy to cook. If you noticed I said cook did not say I would clean up...LOL I would like to see us carpool for this. I can take 3 passengers in my car. We can meet at my house since it is close to Sedona. The stay over for three night is $89 for one to three nights.. So depending on how many there is that is what we divide it by and be sure to pay Michelle. Thank you so much Michelle for taking the time to look into this for us and for planning this time. We will be meeting up for lunch. Thought we could walk around Talqueque and do some window and shopping. http://www.tlaq.com/ There is a gallery there that is free Exposures International Gallery http://www.exposuresfineart.com/  We can bring snack for the night and enjoy a good movie or just stay up late and visit. The choice is ours. Plan on money for the lunch, dinner, timeshare, gas, and money for spending. If you are carpooling with someone you will need to figure out with them what the gas will be. Let me know who all is planning on staying the night so we can get a head count and see if we need to make other arrangements. I have great plans for next year. I am open for suggestions. So far we have As You Wish Pottery, Karaoke, Bingo, Game night, MIM, then lunch afterwards, coffee dates, and the list will continue on.

Thanks Ebann!   I won't be able to make it to the Tea party...my DD's soccer game is at 12pm in Sedona & my BF is making a surprise weekend visit for DD's Birthday!

I am really looking forward to November...the two bedroom condo has twin bed's in the downstairs bedroom, a queen bed upstairs, queen murphy bed in the loft and queen sofa sleeper downstairs.   We also have roll away beds if needed.  Max occupancy is 8...

My DH is keeping an eye out for the sister resort next door to see if we have a cancellation since that 2 bedroom would sleep 10 maximum...if a unit opens up for those dates, he will switch resorts (same price and literally right next door to each other).

    Hi Ladies!!

Just been in Tucson area for the last two months or so.!!Had no idea you were all here as I started a ismiliar post!!!! It has been two years for me post chemo and not sure if i can blame chemo brain on maybe me looking first!!!LOL!

Moved here from IL and had a great sisterhood goin from the ILLINOIS GROUP here on the forum!! It is wonderful to have and am looking forward to being in touch here. I am away to go to NY to see my 92 year old DAD this weekend for a week and will miss the TEA Party that was mentioned!! Next time.

Still actually healing from my BC jounrey and have some endocrine issues goin on. Looking for good DRs is my biggest hunt right now as i will need a oncologist and Ob/Gyn for certain. Just had blood work done and some areas concern me for pre diabetic issues and am thin and very conscious of what i eat.. BUT I do love desserts and figure i could get away with that. I recently learned women who have higher insulin levels vs those with lower, were twice as likely to get breast, colon or pancreatic cancer. Never knew this!!!

OMAZ..Hi!  I am in Tucson BUT will not be able to attend the social tea.. we need to keep in touch and glad I am not alone here!!!lol.

Thanks and will stay in touch. Healthy wishes being sent and to all those in Treatment. any questions email me. Was on Taxotere and Cytoxan.

    Hi Donna,

Welcome to the group. It will be nice to meet you. Omaz I think that is great now you have someone in Tucson. Donna I hope you have a safe trip visitng your dad. Is he in assisting living? Ny is a long ways from here. I have family that lives in NY as will. They live in the Long Island area. Someday I would love to visit NY at Christmas time. I was there in July a few years back and got to experience the fireworks. That was an amazing show even if it was in the rain. LOL We are planning a trip to Sedona next month and a possible stay over.  So far I have not had any responses on that so I am not sure how that is going to go. I am on Taxotere/Carboplation for the 2nd time around.  This is my 3rd dx with cancer. I am going strong!

Hope to see you next get together,

    Hi Donna,

The tea party was really nice. Great food, conversation and the company is wonderful. I hope that you had a nice trip in NY. I am sure it was cooler there then what is here. I have been waiting for it to cool down but no such luck. As far as an oncologist goes I would get a hold of (luvmyself) Jill she sees a oncologist there in Tucson. I know he comes highly recommended. I will let her know that you are looking. She does not get on here to often. I hope you have a good week.

    Hi Ladies,

Just signed up on this forum today. I'm married and am 52. I live around the 51 & T-bird. I had a double mastectomy 5 weeks ago. After getting an ONCO score of 18 and much discussion and praying, I opted to not do chemo. I started reconstruction during surgery and started taking Tamoxifen 3 nights ago. Waiting minute to minute to see what it starts doing to me. I'm anxious to meet some other women who are also on this journey. I'm finding each day bringing different emotions and experiences. I still get some panic attacks when start to think about all of this too much. The reconstruction is uncomfortable at times. I'm happy to have a good prognosis.

We're parents to three grown sons. My baby, Eric (24) is an Army Staff Sergeant and is on his third tour in Iraq. He'll be home by Christmas. Our middle son, Ryan (26), is an Air Force Captain just finishing his F-15 Strike Eagle training in North Carolina and off to England for four years in January. Our oldest, Kyle (29) lives here and is in the construction business. I have the most loving, supportive husband anyone could ask for.

Will anyone be at the American Cancer Society walk this coming Sat. at Tempe Lake?

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

     ~Cindy
