So, see?  I'm not totally whacked.  I got them at www.ModCloth.com, by the way, which has great tights & fun clothes.

But the fun doesn't end there, ladies, because I wanted to run my dehumidifier down there to help out the drying process, but when I turned it on, it made this loud clacking noise.  So, I got out my Phillips head screwdriver & took the case off the top, turned the thing over & shook it a little.  And what falls out of the  fan blades???  A dead mousey!!   It had been dead long before I turn on the dehumidifier, by the way, so it wasn't like a total gross-out or anything.

However, my humidifier is now working.  Oh, I just can't wait to get back to work tomorrow!!  We're going to be having a snowstorm!!

Deep sigh....what a day. Mascara was gone 5 minutes after I put it on.

Kathi, my father did that to the kitchen a few years back. Insurance covered it and we got a brand new kitchen...upgraded. I only wish I had been able to expand the kitchen instead of just fitting the appliances in the old space.

So, maybe you'll get new flooring?

Barbe, as abbadoodles & myself like to claim, we are Yankee New Englanders & we are thrifty.  And I am the child of first-generation children of immigrants who grew up in the Depression.  We do not throw things out unless they're really broken.  And nowadays, we try to recycle.  Yes, I do have a cleaner basement now.  I mean who ever washes the cellar floor??  It's cement!

Actually, I wore those tights to a party & they were a big hit.  I got them in black & in brown.  I wore the black ones with a short black skirt, black ankle boots & a butternut squash colored sweater.  Plus I had peacock feather earrings (of course!) also from Modcloth.  By the way, Jane, they were sold out on those tights the first time I tried to buy them, but I did something -- I think I asked them to let me know by email when they were in stock & they did, so I jumped on 'em when I got the email.  So, they'll get more in.  They are made by www.lookfromlondon.com (which is actually in New York, I think) & they have TONS of amazing tights, socks, etc. (not the peacock feather ones, but lots of others).  Plus, not that ModCloth needs my help, but they do this sweet thing that I've only ever experienced in southern France, which is that they give you what's called a lagniape in French, which means a little extra gift, when you buy something.  I've gotten a bracelet, a fun & funky ring & a headband.  I got lagniapes when I traveled in Languedoc several years ago & it was really charming (tres charmant et si agreeable); I got things like lavender soap & sachets (& French lavender is unbelievably potent), little scarves, and one lady at an antique store didn't have anything little enough to give me, but she took 10% off this lovely antique art nouveau brass candlestick holder I was buying.   So, ModCloth.com (as well as the shopkeepers of Languedoc) definitely provides an SOI in this sucky world.

Boy, NancyD, I wish!!  I'd love to get a new bathroom out of this.  But I'm afraid it's the basement that took the hit & it's unfinished, so all I'd get is maybe new cement.  Oh, well.  Things are drying out nicely.  Wish it were this easy to dry up this headcold I have!!  Five years ago, a drunk driver skidded up the embankment along my yard, ran over one of my lilac bushes & knocked down two sections of my fence.  His car insurance covered the damage, but I kept joking that if he'd just driven a little further, I could have gotten a new addition on the house!!

Oh my god, don't get me going on insurance! Just because I was in reverse and a lady cut the corner, hit my car and scraped it for 6 feet due to her excessive speed before she realized she had hit me, as my only damage was my tail light! That's it, my tail light. AND IT'S ALL MY FAULT. I AM TO BLAME, MY INSURANCE WILL GO  UP. NOT HERS.

This is weird for an SOI, but the wake for my friend's husband that just died quite suddenly was really nice. He was only 55, and from a big Irish Catholic family, and both him and his wife are much-loved, so it was crazy packed, but nice.

Robertson screws and screwdrivers are sort of Canadian, apparently:

You can buy them at some hardware stores in the U.S., though, like Home Depot.  The ones they sell at Home Depot are made by "Husky" tool company.

Robertson screwdrivers are also available on Amazon.com:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NPUL6U   Those are made by "Michigan Industrial Tools." 

My dh calls them "square drive" screws, but he says they're also known as "R #2" heads.  They are hard to find locally.  My dh has been looking for them all over the place, because he needs some to make repairs in our travel trailer.

(I'm rambling on about this 'cause it's kind of nice to talk about something other than sad stuff.)

Good morning everyone.   I have ALL kinds of screws and screwdrivers/wrenches.   For a "girl", I  know  more than most men about the different kinds, as my husband did wood working as a hobby.   His father was a house contractor and I have 6 foot long clamps, used to build staircases.   And an electric planer.  

Now ask me WHY do I have these things, after selling our house and moving into an apartment???   Our son wanted his father's tools, but has yet to come and get them.  And I do not think he knows how to use many of them.

Sharon, I had dreams about Deb all night long last night and this morning, my heart is still very heavy too. I sure hope we see alot of activity on Deb's rose thread with girls buying a $10 rose for her. Yesterday, the count was 40+ roses; I wonder how many more there will be today? I think that was such an awesome idea of Donna's.

My bitch today: all the roads in Dallas are frozen!!! I wonder what the weather is like in Alaska??

Although my heart has been heavy as a huge rock and I couldn't fall asleep last night at all, I do not have any IOS's to share with. Actually I've been overwhelmed by all the love and support. Donna aka CasinoGirl started the pink rose shower for Deb and while I was touched and impressed by such a beautiful idea of hers, I knew there was no way I could purchase my rose because the shop was located in a different country than mine. I posted asking if anybody could help me and order my rose for me and I would repay for it via PayPal. Then guess what? 3 people have already ordered my roses before they even asked me and I have had another few people PM me asking if I was still looking for help or telling me they've already ordered mine and all of them said I didn't have to repay and just pay it forward. Boy, I can't even begin to thank them.To be honest, I had been a little discouraged by the nastiness going around here and was even thinking about leaving the boards for good. But this certainly reminded me of the reason why I just couldn't quit coming here. All you wonderful women and the sisterhood are just irreplaceable to me. Thank you sounds inadequate to describe how I feel right now but I don't know what else to say. What a bunch of amazing women you all are!

IOS - I still can't logon to the boards, just get that error message, I've deleted files and cookies and whatnot, but will need to wait until the weekend to get help from my friend - frustrating!

I ordered my roses for Deb, one from me, one from ravdeb in Israel, and one from Ferne - not sure if any of you knew Ferne, she died in January 2008, another terrible loss to this dreadful disease. I broke down crying on the phone (the poor woman!), but I'm so glad there will be such a wonderful tribute to Deb from her virtual sisters.
