Wow, you looked great!!!  The makeup is strong, esp. lips.  But, hey, it was an experience.  Your dress and accessories are just beautiful!  Hint:  We'l love a closer-up so we can see all you lovely ladies.

Kathi, I just love the layered dress.   So YOU.  Actually, I like all of the dresses, not so much the shoes. LOL  But, wear them in good health!

Bought lots of stuff yesterday but don't have time to photo them.  I must spend the day dyeing, assembling product, assembling new rolling units and cleaning, etc.  Ever notice I never say I am bored???

I loved the layered dress too Kathi!

The strong make-up would have been for the photo-shoots so you weren't washed out by flashes....

Barbe - I originally went with eggplant but ended up with navy - which was just as pretty.

I know they did a stronger than normal makeup, but when we weren't getting photographed, we looked like drag queens!!

I agree with Barbe!  Close-ups, please!  You all look lovely, though.  The second lady from the right also looks particularly beautiful!  That ivory gown looks gorgeous on her.  Barbe's right -- that heavy make-up is really "stage" make-up, not street make-up, overdone so the lights don't wash you out.

Thanks, girls!  I have to get some pix of me actually wearing a few of these new items!!  They are all made of such soft, drapey cotton jersey, I couldn't resist the way they felt!  Glamour is one thing, but comfort is my most important criterion!!  Except when it comes to high heels, of course!!   Tina, those shoes were bought strictly to be "props" for the Accidental Amazon....have big plans for a self-portrait!!  Now I've got to locate the bow, arrows and quiver.  I've also got to figure out an occasion to wear that layered dress!  Might have to wait till next summer, because it's starting to get cold here.  Barbe, one of my friends in Alberta actually said that four-letter word "snow" to me on the phone this morning!!  They're supposed to get a little tomorrow!  Horrors!!

Thanks, Raye!  I tried but can't get the photos any larger.  I'll have to go to the original source and see if they can send a larger shot.

I did have a wonderful time - everything except the makeup part during the makeover was so much fun - and I was truly running around with this crazy media schedule thursday and friday, but it was cool to see how it all works too.  then, of course, had a great time with my sister during the remainder of the weekend, eating, drinking wine and shopping.  NYC is the best for shopping - and I actually found shoes / boots this time, which I never find when I'm there.  wish I could have been there longer with her, but there's always next time (although it will be in a hotel, she has a studio apartment and can we say . ..  .waaaaaaay too crowded with just the two of us??).

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Hi-

I'm about 6 months too late, but I saw a discussion about "dickies" that would attach to your bra and cover the lost cleavage that some of us have (without the added layer of a camisole). Abbadoodle was trying to find something that attaches at the straps and under the bra so it doesn't move around under your shirt.

In the meantime, I have found something that seems perfect (for me). It is at: http://www.thewinkee.com. It was made by a BC survivor and seems to solve alot of my fashion problems. They have a bunch of different styles and come in black, white and ivory. I would love if they came in lots of different colors, because I would buy the lot!

Hi, krcll, and thanks for the link.  Looks like a good design with the drawback that you have to replace the attachment circles every wearing.

Yes, that is similar to what I had in mind.  My design is different and has different attachments.  One of these days I will photograph some and post here.

About the 'winkiee' dickie, I looked at it and was wondering if you couldn't put a velcro dot on each piece instead of the stickie circles? (putting the loop on the side against your skin and the hook on the end that wraps around the straps) That would elimate the need to replace the stickie circles after every wearing.

My sister and I haven't found time to work on the stretch lace camisole bra I have in mind to make. She has found a pattern in her collection that we think will work. We are working on my halloween costume. Every year my company has a costume contest and the past 2 years, I have gotten beat by a guy in the warehouse who dresses like 1, a baby in a diaper with a bottle (I was Queen Elizabeth) and 2, a ballernia in a pink tutu and tights (I was Brittany Spears with frizzy blonde wig, tight t-shirt and jeans and dark glasses). this year I am working on a harem / dancing girl costume, almost like 'I dream of Jeannie' but with a sheer crystalette full skirt over the satin pants. We have gotten some hair extenders (used for hair weaves) to make a ponytail to hang out of my cap (like Jeannie). Although with my dark hair, I will be more like evil sister Jeanie in a periwinkle blue costume.  Here is a link to the pattern we are using as the basis of my costume, we are adding a veil to the hat and making the full skirt. http://www.simplicity.com/p-1946-costumes.aspx#  Does anyone else dress up for Halloween?

abbadoodles and lvtwoqit- Yes, I thought the same thing about the dots. I bought a package of 50 and I get 2 wearings out of them. I am going to ask my nimble fingered sister (who is visiting from the USA soon-whoopie!) to sew some velcro on them. In a pinch, 3 safety pins would do the trick. Abbadoodles, I would love to see what you came up with. Post a pic!

Oh, Sheila!  A woman after my own heart!  I have gone frequently to a Renaissance Faire that happens near me every year & have made a costume or two for that.  I love sewing costumes, especially for kids!  I made this one year for my GF's daughter:

That Jeannie Costume is fun!.  I have worn some serious Halloween costumes, myself!  You have to post a photo of the masterpiece & how you look in it.

This is not for Halloween, but I just got a costume for myself so I can dress up as the namesake of my blog, the Accidental Amazon.  Those insane gladiator high heels I posted here last week are what I bought to go with it, and I will be borrowing a recurve bow, some arrows and a quiver to complete the whole thing.  Here's a link to the costume, which actually fits (although I certainly don't look like this model in it!!); yes, I will post the pix of me in this getup.  I will be flaunting my uni-boober status in some silly way, either by having my prosthesis sticking out on that side or something...yes, I am crazy.

that duckie costume is cute. My sister loves making costumes as well as prom and wedding gowns. Last year her 3 yr old grandson wanted to be Thomas the Train. She took the pattern for a box of crayons costume as the basis of Thomas, added a stuffed cylinder out the front with Thomas' face painted and appliqued on it. Issac wore a train engineer's hat. She also made a Sponge Bob Square pants costume for the son of a co-worker. this year her grandson wants to be Handy Manny (disney channel) so she only has to make a two tone green shirt to match Manny's and he will wear blue jeans, tool belt, and red ball cap. I have wore some of her costumes in the past, I was a 1920's flapper with black and silver lace dress and beaded head band, a fun clown with full face paint and purple and silver wig, and a cabbage patch baby with red yarn wig. My costume this year is out of some of her stash from a wedding that didn't take place. The bride bought all the fabric for her gown and 2 or 3 bridesmaids as the deposit then they got married at the court house before Marie started on any of the gowns. They said that they were going to have a church wedding several months later but that was over 3 yrs ago.

Hi, girls.  Went shopping yesterday for some basics.  I'd been looking for a THIN, slide-y, white top to layer under other stretchy cotton T-shirts and such and had been having no luck at dept. stores like Macy's.  (My local Macy's is the pits.)  Being desperate, I went to walmart.  I hate walmart.  Never found what I was looking for when I went in there but YESTERDAY I DID!!!

Great top:  Danskin NOW (sold only there) 3/4 sleeve slubby material but very thin, cotton/modal blend, V-neck but not toooooo low.  White and many colors.  $7.00!!!  Tried it on when I got home and it fit perfectly!!!  Am going back for more.

These tops are not on the wally website.  They may be a new style.  Go check them out.

I also bought a Hanes thin cotton long-sleeve scoopish neck T-shirt for, I think $6.00 but I don't like it.  Sleezy fabric and shoulders are too big in the size small.  I threw it in the wash and hopefully it will shrink a lot.

That's all my fashion story for now.  Gotta go report on makeup.

I hit wallyworld every season for knit black pants.  As a plus size, it's hard to find things that fit my curves, but the pants there are really cut well for we large gals.  I usually get 2-3 pair and wear them all season.

Dotti, when I go back for more Danskin tops I am going to try on their Lee Riders in the stretchy fabric.  I have a pair of notyourdaughtersjeans that I love but they are pricey.  Will see if the wally version is any good and report back here.

    Tina,

I don't shop at the Wmart often (unless it's the only store around) due to several reasons, which I won't/don't talk about...anyway, check out these Lee Jeans at JCPenney. Very cute. I might get a pair for myself. I have tried on so many jeans lately, none of them fit me properly. Maybe these will...

Go to http://www.jcpenney.com/, click "women" then click jeans and then look at the Lee Jeans. These are called Lee® Slender Secret Back Flap Pocket Jeans.

I tried on the jeans at Wallmart, the Lee ones that are supposed to make you look slimmer. They didn't! I got my normal size and had too much extra fabric in the bum but wouldn't have been able to go down a size as I need the thigh room. My waist is small(ish) and I have that great ass remember, my only weight is in my legs. I thought the jeans sat high like "mommy jeans" too.

Hi girls!!! Yes, I am alive and well. I have thirty seconds- so no time to read and get caught up, but I just wanted to let you guys know I'm doing really well.

Here's the short version of my life--Single and loving it. When M. finally got all his stuff out of the house he stooped so low as to take a plastic bag and clean my spices out of the kitchen cupboard.

Needless to say I'm still redecorating. It's such a huge process, and I'm so busy- I'm rarely at home to even think about the fact that I have no couches and I'm sitting on a bean bag in the living room.

When I'm not working 6 days a week, I am working out. I love having a gym at work. It's really convenient, and embracing physical fitness has been one of the most incredible changes in my life. I'm down nearly 30 pounds in less then three months, so I'm pretty happy with how that's all going.

I'm heading to D.C. for a week in 6 days... speaking at a few events for First Descents (the group I went kayaking with) so I'm really thrilled. Work is keeping me super busy. Some days I love my job, other days I hate it more then anything- but I have good medical and that's important.

Had a little cancer scare a few weeks ago and had a little something something removed and got some stitches... all is fine- but I just got slapped with a huge medical bill- ugh new deductible.

In fashion news, I'm trying not to shop too much b/c I want to lose another 25 pounds, and then I'll go crazy.

BUT, I did give in a get my first brazilian wax over a month ago, and just had my second one yesterday, and I AM HOOKED. I will never shave again for the rest of my life.

Barbe- if you're looking for jeans and don't want to spend a lot of $$$ go to Old Navy. I got three pair the other day, and a sweater, a bubble jacket, and some socks, all for under $145!!!!

I was on fox news a few weeks ago- I will try to post the link here later... also started blogging for conair after I won that hair contest. I'm about to write my third entry when it slows down at work tonight. I'll try to jump back on and post more later.

I miss you  ladies, and think of you often!!! I turned 32 this weekend-- it's crazy to think I started here at 26... feels like som much time has gone by.

If I win the 200 million mega tonight I will take all of us on a shopping spree.

    love to all.

Wow - 30 lbs. That is simply magnificent. Keep up the good work, but don't get too skinny on us. Great work on the blog, loved it. Funny and informative, but man I would have to get up at 4:00am to go through all of the steps to get my hair looking perfectly curly. So glad to hear you are doing so well and loving life.

Happy Birthday Sheila and Beth!!! I have a bday coming up in November. 40-something.

Thanks for the FYI on the jeans, Barbe - saved me a trip to JCPenney.

Hey, Fashionistas!!  Hi, Bethie!  You're alive!!  (Just kidding...I know you've been alive on FB.)  I don't know how you managed to squeeze any more out of yourself to blog for Conair, but you ROCK, girlfriend!!

I went to the radio station this morning and recorded my essay on Breast Cancer Awareness for their public radio "This I Believe" essay series.  I'm so proud of myself -- I only rehearsed it once, then did one 'official' take and that was all they needed!  What a pro, huh??  All that glee club experience really paid off...  It will be broadcast in early December and I'll post a link to it when it's going to be on air.  I will also have a portrait photograph taken, and the portrait, my written essay and the audio essay will be archived online at the website for WRNI.  Way cool!

Gee, there are getting to be so many of us on this thread who are famous or almost famous!!

Also, I saw my med onc today and told her I quit tamoxifen after giving it a year of my life, and that I feel a whole lot better.  And she didn't flinch.  She totally validated my decision and agreed that improving my present QOL is more beneficial in the long and short run anyway, especially when balanced against the fact that anti-hormone drugs would only be shaving about 7 or 8% off my overall recurrence risk while they made me feel like dog doo.

And I continued my tradition of shopping after my appointment and bought a necklace and matching earrings at the Hope Shop, which is a gift shop in the hospital that sells jewelry and safe makeup and pashmina scarves and wigs and all kinds of stuff for us girls, and the proceeds all go to help BC patients.  They have some really fun jewelry there.  Pix later.

Love you all.  Happy Late B-day to Beth and Sheila.

Girls, I went shopping yesterday and tried on some Dansko clogs.  I thought they were supposed to be comfortable????  Yikes, verrrry UN comfortable.  Plus, the salesgirl had me try on two pairs in my same size because she said they are handmade and can vary from pair to pair.  Sure enough, one pair's left shoe was too low in the instep, the other pair was fine.

I also tried on another color in the same size and there was a point towards the side of the instep that rubbed on one of my foot bones.  Hurt.  The other two pair did not.

Aside from the fact that I found them uncomfortable, I thought they would not be a brand to buy online because you really have to try each and every one on to confirm the fit.  What an eye-opener.

Ventured into the new Neiman Marcus and a saleslady was following me around the boutiques pressing me to try things on so I tried on a really beautiful but subtle tapestry coat.  Soft, not like typical tapestries.  Looked wonderful but shoulders too big.  Had seamstress come up to pin.  Tried to get me to buy like crazy.  Of course, I didn't.  $2195.00.  HoHoHo.  My new sewing cabinet and caddy cost less then that and they're FURNITURE!!!

    That's all, folks.

barbe, I bought the machine in the spring but just ordered the Horn of America Quilters' Dream cabinet and caddie on Tuesday afternoon.  My dealer said it may come in today, Thursday! or tomorrow.  She and her hubby will deliver it on their way home from the shop.

I can't wait!!!  I've been cleaning and rearranging my studio for days now and it's looking halfway decent, anyway.  Bought another InterMetro shelving unit and assembled that this AM.  Now I have three of them, two at 18 x 48", 36" high and one at 14 x 36" to put across the end of the other two which are back to back in the middle of a U-shaped area.  I will take pics and post for you!  I am just so antsy with anticipation!!!
