LIFE'S A BEACH!

Meece the North Shore was closed a few days but the south shore beaches were open everyday.  Went snorkling it was great, my underwater camera is 35mm so will post pictures in a week or so.  It was so nice to walk and swim everyday!

I forgot about Australia and snakes. I liked watching episodes of Steve Erwin happily chasing lizards and snakes, along with his beloved alligators. We have a lot of spiders here, too, but the ones that we have to be concerned with are brown recluse spiders. They don't look like much, but they are poisonous.

My son turned 8 last month. He has high functioning autism, and he has been at a great school out here, but I found one that is more specialized in his special needs. It is in Florida, and we will be close to Disney World. He dreams about all things Disney, and has been drawing detailed Cinderella castles since Kindergarten. He has told me over and over, "Wishes come true", and so his heart's greatest desire will come true for him soon.

MissB my GS has Asperges and is now 12.  The school he has been going to has been great and even though it is a normal school, they have gone the extra mile and accomodated his special needs which has been wonderful for him.  The problem becomes a bit harder next year as he starts high school and they are less likely to accomodate anything different.  His mum is really doing her best scouting out the different schools so she makes the right choice for him.  I hope your son does well with the move and achieves his dream of seeing The Magic Kingdom Castles at Disneyworld!

Oh, thank you, Chrissy! It does seem to become more and more of a challenge as they get older with school accommodations. I hope your GS likes his new school, too.

It's interesting to wander into the middle of the conversation regarding Autism. My first professional position was in a center for children with special needs. We had quite a reputation for serving children w Autism..... we had children at every point on the spectrum.

MissyB, I'm hoping that your new school program meets your every dream.

We're about 90 minutes from Orlando, maybe a little less, depending on the traffic at the time.

We'll be nearly neighbors!!! For at least the winter months.

I've had such a great couple of days, returning to two different school districts to work with Kindergartners -- with teachers where I have been every year. It was such a thrill to share my new book, with these teachers in particular.

LOVE seeing all of the beaches and flowers and joy-in-general.

Tomorrow is my one day in the 12 week excursion that I have "off" -- which means I get to be GeeGee for each & every minute.

The weekend's coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lisa, our SIL Scott left for Iraq yesterday.

Sobbering. We are very proud of him and even more so of our daughter -- for keeping all of the home fires burning in his absence. Yesterday was really hard. He will be depolyed for a longer time than he is gone typically. We never know for sure, but think he is to return in June.

Sigh.

I'm glad that we're here right now. DD can use all the support we can provide.

hey all: ive been watching the back and forth, i have 2 kids w/ special needs, also. growen men now, one doing well the other one not so much.. attended scholls for special needs most of their lives. its strange. adopted the first; special needs as to bonding issues, adopted #2 jay, special needs, still.very scary dx. but a sweet child.. a difficult man, now, but grown, none the less.. then, had jay#3; he's the most "serious" on paper. noone hears much from him since he's grown. a personal heartache for me, but best to let him live as he chooses. we ck up on him once in awhile, and he does really well for himself. just not with his ma and da.. {{{{sigh}}}}} but, we love them all..

Well, Toto, I think we're still in Kansas (Tennessee, actually). No flying cows, boats, witches, or houses. Yay! Thank you for your prayers, Chrissy. The weather is crazy out here. There is a saying in Tenn., "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it will change."

This is from this morning's news. A lot of trees down and power outages. They are investigating a tornado touchdown by a large lake we have out here.

Sharon, yes, those tornadoes.are nerve wracking. The city's sirens go off, and the local news shows their approach minute by minute.  I would feel better if I had the protection of a basement, but if you don't have one, they say the safest place in your home is to be in your bathtub, because it's the last to blow away. Somehow, that doesn't make me feel too safe!

I love seal and birds in your beautiful pic. Is that the Pacific?
