In my defense.......

I was thinking that the grass needing a trimming.....

Then I got transfixed with how that trimming would proceed.

I considered scissors -- a bit slow.

I considered edge trimmers -- maybe too fast?

Then I just seem to have drifted off................

Pluck each blade of grass with your teeth.  Of course, there's the risk of getting out of control and just ripping off mouthfulls...  Oh hell, just take the whole thing off!

Grass?  Teeth?  I have to go to the dentist for a cleaning this week so all that comes to mind is gentle flossing.
