-
mary, what have you heard about Earl and your beaches??
-
Beachie, beachie, beachie babes!!!!
It happened. It's done. This enormous project is 'done' for a minute. This afternoon right around 2:00, all of the files for my next book went whizzing across cyber-space to the printing house. I caught a stray word on the acknowledgements page at T-minus minutes and had to get that sorted out -- so there were frantic calls from here to there -- and it was all straightened out with a minute to spare.
This afternoon my yoga class had improptu created a 'gathering' of yoga-grannies to give me an "almost-a-book-launch-party" and I could show them the finished proof & art from my computer, via my LCD projector. This 'lauch' was held in what I can only guess is a million dollar new home, built on the top of a bluff, perched on the edge of the water.
Seriously I was singing & teaching them the sign language to "Red, White & Blue" and a bald eagle flew by. They declared that to be a good omen. So we raised our glasses again.
Maybe I can sleep tonight. Finally. Five years in the making. Two dx of BC. Six grand-children..... since I wrote the song. Let the fireworks begin!!!!
Seriously, this is our little Sister Bay's annual Marina Fest complete with fireworks on Sat.
So let the partyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy beginnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll put the cover up as soon as I can 'seperate' it from the rest.
xx00xx00xx00xx
Thanks to each and everyone of you who have held my hand, kicked me in the seat of my pants or posted reference photos for me. [To you newbies, last summer everyone put up gobs of fireworks photos in an effort to help me get over that hump.]
To each and all a heart-felt thank you. This thread has always brightened my day. I am deeply in debt to each and every poster.
GROUP HUG!!!!!

Hurricaine Earl is coming our way and here's what it looks like at the beach across the street from us.
This was as of 1:30 this afternoon and there was no breeze and the water was really flat but the rain has been pouring off and on. We are on the southeastern coast of Connecticut on Long Island Sound (Eastern Point in Groton, CT). The Weather Channel has had someone reporting on the conditions in Montauk, NY which is approximately 18 miles directly south of us. Montauk is open Atlantic Ocean and we are protected here in the sound by Long Island so I'm sure that's the reason the water has been so calm here. Right now it is 4:30 p.m. and the sky is more gray, the trees are barely moving, it is lightly raining and breeze is starting to appear on the surface of the water but not even any white caps. It is supposed to hit us as a tropical storm with winds of 50mph, not too bad as we get that with snow storms in the winter but I will still err on the side of caution. To anyone else in Earl's path, I wish you the very best.

That looks ominous, Limegreen.
-
Be safe you east coasters.
-
Lisa, our NJ beaches are supposed to get strong currents/riptides and some rain, but all gone overnight. We're waiting till tomorrow morning to head down - thanks for asking. New Englanders, head all warnings and be safe buddies. Faith, I can't imagine how awesome it must feel to be able to breaaathe for at least a day or two till your next project calls you!!!! Here's to you my friend
-
** heed ** all warnings ... duh
-
Real beach people of the coast, know that us wanna-be-beachers will be keepin' you in our thoughts. Be careful, be safe.
We're on Green Bay and today is the first day that I've ever seen these sort of waves. We've had wind all day today of 30mph with gusts thru out the day of 40.
Tomorrow is our annual little village festival and I think it's safe to say, this weather is gonna spoil it. Which is seriously unfortunate for the actual 'townies' who depend on the tourist trade to make their budgets. Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow? I wonder if they will postpone it till Sunday or something? The fireworks won't be spectacular in this rain.
LimeGreen, here's some flip-flops. Just your color!!!!
(wear them for good luck)
-
Faith I love them!!! So pretty! I'm putting them on now.
Well, it's 11:39 p.m. and supposed to be the height of the storm. We just went to the yacht club to check things and not bad at all. Wind is blowing in from the north at about 10-15 mph, some drizzle. The masts on the sailboats were barely moving. Looks like it is moving more and more away from the coast and lessening our impact. So far so good for us, but I hope our friends in Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard are doing okay.

"
Ahhhhh.....so much better than yesterday. All is good now.
-
limegreen-is that a cruise liner headed up the northeastern shore? My mom took my sister & I on a 7 day cruise out of Boston, up the New England coast into Canada. It was so pretty
