Funny, I find the Rimmel eye pencils to go on better than any eye pencil I've tried (yes, I got the white, and a green 'cause they were cheap...). I bought a MAC one and returned it 'cause it wouldn't go on at all! I have developed really crepey skin around my eyes in my old age....
Re tanning. I did 5 sessions before my trip to Brazil. There is no possible way for me to avoid the sun there so I figured the best thing to do would be to get a little tan going in. For the first time I didn't burn when I got there. I was as judicious as possible for the first week but I think it was the tanning! I still have 3 more left on my card and I like it - it's relaxing - so I'll use them but don't think I'll do it again. Until my next trip to Brazil.

A successful beauty product company asked the people in a large city to send pictures along with brief letters about the most beautiful women they knew. Within a few weeks thousands of letters were delivered to the company.
One letter in particular caught the attention of the employees and soon it was handed to the company president. The letter was written by a young boy who was obviously from a broken home, living in a run-down neighborhood. With spelling corrections, an excerpt from his letter read: "A beautiful woman lives down the street from me. I visit her everyday. She makes me feel like the most important kid in the world. We play checkers and she listens to my problems. She understands me and when I leave she always yells out the door that she's proud of me."
The boy ended his letter saying, "This picture shows you that she is the most beautiful woman. I hope I have a wife as pretty as her."
Intrigued by the letter, the president asked to see this woman's picture. His secretary handed him a photograph of a smiling, toothless woman, well-advanced in years, sitting in a wheelchair. Sparse gray hair was pulled back in a bun and wrinkles that formed deep furrows on her face were somehow diminished by the twinkle in her eyes.
"We can't use this woman," explained the president, smiling. "She would show the world that our products aren't necessary to be beautiful." -
Hello Ladies:
I'm new to this thread because up until now I wasn't ready to "Move On". Now I've finished all of my treatments except for an AI which I will be taking for several years. I have been reading these posts for a few days and am amazed by the depth of knowledge and the wealth of humor I'm finding here. I was wondering why, when urinating, I was spraying all over the place. Naturally, I thought my urethra was messed up.
I'm confused about the white eyeliner. Where exactly does it go?
Also, I've used Arbonne skin products and have been very happy with them. I'm not crazy about the make up - too dry.
I think I'm too close to surgery (3 months) to consider braving a Brazilian. Happy to have zero pain right now.
My last chemo was in Nov 07. I have a white crew cut which I happen to like. I had it cut twice to even it out and it looks like I did it "on purpose."
Thanks for all the tips!

Glad to see you here, shrink! We are pretty much a crowd that lives by the "won't face the world until I buff and puff" in the AM.
I think I missed greeting inna a week or so ago. Geez, I'm sorry. We have so many new visitors!
Speaking of Clinique, many of whose products I love and have used, I've been using their Aromatics scent for at least 20 years, probably more. Since it's early day, in all likelihood. I'm nothing if not loyal. LOL
Anyway, funny Aromatics story. My friend and I were in a store a few weeks ago and the clerk says "Who smells so good?" My friend and I both piped up "I do" at the same time. Seems we are both wearing the same scent and because of that neither of us could smell it on the other!
Aromatics is a scent that smells WAAAAAYYY too strong in the bottle but smells heavenly on the body (applied judiciously).

Quickie update. Just ordered that new Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator Kit. If you go to the Neutrogena website you can register and get a promo number online for 5 bucks off, then go via their link to amazon.com where the product is already 2 bucks less than CVS, then buy the refill pads and rack up enough in purchases to qualify for another 10 bucks off from amazon. Apply the two codes during checkout. You can save quite a bit.
Gee, I hope I like this stuff. Hope springs eternal. Will let you know.

Hi everyone! And waving at Hillary, my fellow Feb Sister.

Since I wont go check the mail without makeup, I was pretty excited to find this thread! Going back to read all of your tips!

Ola chicas! Back from MX - had a FAB time! I finally got the lipstick off...but I swear my lips will never be the same! Ouch...no more Revlon colorstay in the sun!
I think the peel was done at a great time...just b/4 my trip because my skin looks really healthy...not leathery at all.
I too LOVE the Clinique Aromatics. My Mom gets me a bottle of it every year for X-mas...the lotion is great too.
Gotta run...
Have a gorgeous Monday!

Welcome back Laura! I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing time and have brought back a lovely tan! It sounds as though your skin looks gorgeous!
Hello Shrink and Commando!
Tina, the kit sounds exciting.
Today, I used my photofinish without foundation and --ohh la la --I must say, I love my skin today! I feel like I look a little younger because it is hiding the lines. I also took Tina's advice about women of a certain age wearing the darker lipstick---and have a light pink on today rather than my darker shade. I do think it makes me look younger.

Have a wonderful day ladies.

Raye --
You almost have me convinced to try this photofinish. Is it easy to use? Do you put it on over your moisturizer?
Remember, I'm the make-up neophyte trying to figure out how to look better now that my face is so exposed due to my chemo 'do!
Thanks,
Hillary -
Hi Girlz -
Wendy - The self tanner that I use is Loreal sublime...I like it, but you have to experiment with ones that work best on your bod! LOL
Raye/Tina/all photo finish girls...I really want to try it...what exactly should I order? Foundation...Powder...? Help me! lol
-
Hillary, Hi - yes, I use my moisturizer first and then use the Photofinish over that.
Hey Laura! I ordered my Smashbox Photofinish from Sephora.com - it is a base (primer) that you use before your foundation and/or powder. I ordered the regular (colorless).
I use the Loreal Sublime as well and really do like it, except that it seems to take so long to dry.
-
Laura, good to have you home! Any stories from your trip? We already know about the Mexican keyboard. LOL
Smashbox is a brand and PhotoFinish one of their products. Honest to Pete, it works just great! Even using it alone, without putting foundation over it, just blush, my skin looks better.
Here's a link directly to the PhotoFinish page on Sephora. http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P9889&categoryId=C10905 I use the Original, colorless. I'm tempted to try the Bronzing Primer for the summer. Another nice thing is that it has no scent.
Some other companies have these primers now. That Japanese DHC or something has a version of it. I think now that it's popularity has grown, you will see many other companies jumping on the bandwagon just as they did with the mineral makeup.
I've not been having too much luck getting the hang of using the Cargo white eye stuff. I need lessons.

Tina
-
Hi Girlz...thanks for the info.
Raye - It does take a long time to dry, so I blow dry my bod from head to toes!
Tina - The trip was great. No real "stories" to report. Other than the lipstick fiasco. I used Revlon Color Stay at the pool - it was just a light shade of pink - to match my bathing suit of course! LOL Well...the sun baked it on and it turned to cement! LOL It was crackly and hard. I couldn't get it off! I tried EVERYTHING. Finally the next day I got it off, but my lips were traumatized and sore! LOL
I want to try the white liner too...I keep forgetting to buy some.
Girlz, hope your day is ravishing!
(I work from home on Tuesdays, so I have to get my butt to work here!...after I pop in at the Humor & Games forum!)
-
I need a recommendation, my sister makeup fiends....I'm about to run out of the Revlon "Pinch Me" cheek stain that I use and haven't seen it around lately (I had bought 3 of them to last awhile). So I'm wondering if anyone uses a stain and, if so, what brand? I can't spend alot but I do consider it one of the most necessary components for creating my "look." Any suggestions
~Marin

Hi Marin: If you use the photo finish put it on first thing after cleansing and moisterizing then put on your makeup the way you usually do. And apply it all over your face and gently on your lids it's great stuff and you'll find your makeup just glides on and you'll use less, so it does save money in the long run. Cheek stain huh, I still use this and please don't laugh to hard,it works, Beet Juice and it stays on all day and is healthy. But in my Look good feel good package I traded a blusher with another woman I love it it's called Signature Creamy Cheek Colour in Spice, I thought it was Mary Kay but now I'm not sure because the top says Signature. It's amazing stuff, you only use a dab and it stays on all day, I put in last right on the apples of my cheeks. Good stuff. Oh yeah did you try the Sea Salt and Cetaphil. I love your white liner trick I'm going to have to try find some now anything to make me look less tired will really make me happy. Thanks for all the different tips ladies. And if any of you haven't gone to your Look Good Feel Good go they give you lots of free stuff. Just make sure you get the package for your skin colouring, I was 5 mins. late because I couldn't find the room and they gave me a Fair package so I ended up not being able to use alot of the stuff but gave to someone needier than me so at least it got some use.
-
Marin, amazon.com carries the Pinch Me. Also, don't forget my favorite, Tarte Cheek Stain. Yours is a gel and mine is solid but they may be similar. The Tarte is expensive but I think mine will last for about 10 years. You use hardly annnnything.
Snowyday, *beet juice*??? How do you keep all those beets around and from going bad? That's a trick I've never run across but if it works, it works.

OMG lol at anal bleaching..I spit out my food..what the heck is that for?
I'm so glad you like the oglow from smashbox - they have a blush too....same idea - I love it!
-
Hi girls! What fun! I thought I’d just read back a few pages, but I got hooked and ended up at the beginning!
Not even going to go there on the bleaching!
LisaDCA- I saw where you mentioned an autoimmune disease. Is it Sjogrens? If so, I have it too. I keep looking for a really good moisturizing lipstick. I found a nice exfoiliant and gloss from Philosophy, but I think I’d prefer a lipstick to a gloss.
Hillary – The St. Ives is realy good. I also used another Philosophy product (Amazing Grace) sea salt scrub. Probably one of my favorite products by them. Oh! And for the white pencil near the nose, absolutely do that! Especially on days when you feel you look tired. It definitely makes you look more awake. Be sure to blend, not so much that it goes away, but enough so that you don’t have two white dots on your face!
Tina – Thanks so much for starting this thread! I will have to check out Clinique’s Aromatics. I have worn three versions of Happy for many, many years. I’m sure they appreciate our loyalty!
Raye – After posting here I’m off to check out Photofinish. I have some Smashbox eye shadows and such and I do like them. I’m almost out of foundation, so now might be a good time to try a primer.
Well, enough for now. I have a huge makeup bag and if I don’t stop now, I’ll talk about the whole thing.
See you soon! -
Tina...Thanks for the tip about Amazon selling Pinch Me. Since it gets used up so quickly, though, I might check out your Tarte stain or even look at Pearl's cream blush. I always look for something that will last all day because, as much as I promise myself that I'll touch-up before evening, I never bother to and end up looking like the cancer patient that I no longer am by then. I especially like stain for early mornings with the new boyfriend. I don't know if I'll ever get to the point where I can just wake up, brush my teeth, and go back to bed without a few hits of mascara and blush. The cheek stainalways looks so fresh and natural....like I always wake up looking like a 16-year old
!So Pearl, I haven't tried the sea salt and cetaphil because when I went to buy facial cleanser, the St. Ives was on sale and I grabbed a tube to put in my weekend bag. I'm still using the Olay microbeads stuff at home, so will check it out, or buy the new St Ives microdermabrasion cleanser. I'm trying to save $$$ though, so the natural stuff might be the best choice.
I wish companies like Restalyne and others offered "scholarships" for "poor" women in need of a charity filler
....I need some nasolabial plumping, y'all! And can you imagine a PS giving away one free facelift to a needy chick? That would totally be me!Sigh......

Marin, I couldn't find anymore of my favorite foundation, the Cashmere something since it is no longer available (I purchased all that CVS had left when it was coming off the shelves). I have since found it on E-bay and bought 6 of them last time!!
Try finding your cheek stain on e-bay!
--------------
So, if photo-finish goes on under your foundation, is it like a moisturizer???
-
No. You use a moisturizer first (or sunscreen/moisturizer), THEN use the PhotoFinish. It's one step below the foundation or even use it without foundation.

i have been wearing another cologne by clinique since i was sixteen. i'm now 51. it's called aromatics elixir. i also sometimes wear angel by thierry mugler.
opinions please-i have really full lips. gloss or no gloss over lipstick? -
I just got tickets for myself and my firend to Nordstrom "beauty event". They do it a few times a year. First there is a runway show, where major cosmetic companies show the latest skincare and looks. then you sign up for a makeover at one of the counters and they bring in a lot of experienced makeup artrists for each liine. Plus they have a lot of demos going on and they serve free champagne:) If you have Nordstrom in your area, get a few girlfriends together and have fun. We go every year and it is a blast.
-
Oh, I just checked and Nordstrom doesn't have one in PA! Boo hoo ... -
Are the events on the same day throughout the country? We have a Nordstrom's here in Durham, NC! I'd love to go (even though every makeover I've ever had made me look like Groucho Marx!).
drw....If I had very full lips, I'd definitely highlight them and wear extra gloss, but I think it depends on how much you like them and want to play them up. Do they, perchance, look like Angelina's?

That white rimming tip is totally saving my butt these days....I've had an exhausting week and look like I'm back in chemo, but with that trick, I'm coming out looking bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed!
~Marin
-
marin-thanks for the advice. forget my lips, i wish my body looked like angelina's!
dianne -
Marin, I'm thinking j likes your little bushy tail! Or non-bush in your case!! LOL
----------------
ok I'm back on the chair from rolling on the floor laughing at my own joke!
---------------
Pressed powder or loose powder? In the morning I used to use loose powder but now over my make-up I use a little bit of Lancome's dual finish ... Then glide my bronzer all over
In my purse: I keep a pressed powder compact in my purse for quick touch ups and my lipstick that goes on clear but adjusts to your skin tone. That's all the make-up in my purse.
-
Well, this is interesting! I went online to order Photofinish; and discovered that I already have pretty much the same thing. Right before chemo I bought some Philosophy skin care products. I loved them all except the "clear foundation" called Perfect. Well, I found out I was using it wrong. The tube says that you can wear it as a moisturizer, or after mositurizing and under foundation. Each time I tried it I had patches of foundation that were impossible to blend in. Turns out I was using as much as you would use if it was moisturizer. You only use about the size of a half of a pea for your whole face. Now that I'm using it correctly, this stuff is AMAZING! If you use it after moisturizing, it seals in your moisturizer and really makes your foundation go on fabulous by working kind of like a primer. It's also great at night after washing your face and moisturizing for the night.
So, thought I'd mention it as another option. I highly reccommend it.

-
Rockmom! I just finished waxing with the Poetic that Emelee recommended (that stuff is amazing!) and I come on here to see your joke....."non-bush" indeed! Either way, I know he likes my tail

~Marin
-
You girls are very naughty.

Rocktober, what brand of lipstick do you use that changes color? I saw that Vermont Country Store is carrying that old Tangee lipstick that changes color. It's been around for eons.
CBarbie, yes, several makeup lines have a primer and they are all similar. They work great! I think I am going to order the bronzer for this summer because I never spend time out in the sun. I use fake tanner on my legs just to take the blue curse off but don't ever get any color on my face. I've used powder bronzers but they have always looked so fake on me.
