    Hi Tina!

Yes I am! We're going for 8 days...but the resort we go to has internet, so I always check in here. I feel bad you guys are getting our bad weather! That stinks...thing spring!

When I get back, I'm going to take your advice and order the powder...thanks for the info.

    Hi All,

I am really enjoying reading all your beauty tips!! I often used the white eye liner in HS. We'd actually put a thin line just under the lower lash line, then a thin line of a blue liner on top. It was pretty hot stuff, in the 80's!

I have a question about enlarged pores. Since finishing tx my skin is the pits! Do you have any recommendations for minimizing pores?

I'm gonna have to check out this photofinish stuff....I'd sorta forgotten the earlier discussion about it.

I've been seeing ads for a new self-tanner from Jergens (I think?) that is called "Express" for a quickie. IMO, there's always something to be said for a quickie of any sort Wink, so Laura, you might want to check it out (the self-tanner, that is)....

Hi Lexi - I use Oil of Olay Regenerist serum - supposed to rid one of the "7 signs of aging"; one of which is larger pores. It seems to work for me and I am oily skinned.

Laura - I would love to meet you next time I am in Chicago - I bet you are taller than me at the table - heh! What a beautiful city. I loved it, but omg it was freezing!!! brrrr. Have fun in Mexico. Where are you going, Cozamel? I love that pic with the white eyeliner. I may have to try some, but I have dark eyes and black hair with very pale skin; I wonder if I would look like a zombie.

Tina - I am so happy and excited for your surgery! I want some surgery too, just scared. I get tired of putting my boobies in the drawer at night, but I will wait until I am ready. My Smashbox Photofinish came earlier this week from Sephora. I loooove it. My skin is so soft after I put it on. I do still have those wrinkles on the top of my cheekbones. What do I do about those - have a face lift?

Marin - I am so sick of winter too. I want to go run on the tready now, but my gym clothes are in the car and will be freezing. A dip in the tanning bed would be nice about now.

Raye....Wrinkles on top of your cheekbones? Are they part of the skin around your eyes? I can't picture this, but if its those little crinkles like sunbursts below your eyes, you can give them to me....I think they're adorable Surprised! Listen, I never claimed to have conventional taste....hell, I'm the one with all of the tattoos and piercings, after all! And did I ever mention here that I had the nurse and surgeon carefully draw a "practice" incision before cutting to insert my port because I wanted it to look like a stab wound? Oh yes I did! And it does....I have a really cool scar on my chest that looks like I was involved in something quite dramatic Wink!

Anyway, Raye, I think a very thin line of very pale, cool blue rimming the inside of your lower lids would be absolutely stunning and really highlight your dark eyes and hair!

Thanks Raye. I have the Olay Regenerist serum, too. I do think it has helped me some. I have noticed that my skin seems a little red after I use it. I naturally have some pinkness to my complexion as well as the oily skin. I have also noticed more wrinkles/crinkles around my eyes when I smile. I truly believe the chemo has aged my skin several years.

I agree w/ Marin. I am sure that blue liner would look really pretty with your brown eyes.

Hey Raye! I saw some photos of girls w/the white eye-liner that had dark hair...it looked great! It's 3 in the morning...we're waiting for our limo. We're headed to the Riviera Maya in MX. Yikes, I'm frickin tired! Should not have had wine last night! LOL

Girls...I swear my makeup bag weighs 15 pounds! The weird thing is that I hardly wear ANY makeup - it's more skin care crap than anything else!~ LOL

Hi Lexi! Welcome to our beautiful world! LOL

Laura:  I just looked up that resort and it's the next place I want to go.  Fabulous!!!!!

Well,  I'm completely back to the bo cosmetics line.  It really is wonderful, and I love supporting the line, as it is a young female, minority-owned business.  I don't have any affiliation with her...I'm just saying her products are wonderful.  Her concealer is the best I've ever tried.   She was a former model, turned makeup artist.  I stopped in there the other day and she had just done a bride's makeup.  WOW!  She also told me she is getting ready to lower her prices, as she found a new place to produce her stuff.   I think the foundation is going down to $15 for a bottle.  I've decided to stick with what works for me.  The first time I wore it to work, a coworker asked me if I had had a facelift.  Not sure how to take that...but we did have a good laugh.

Gonna have to look into that white liner, though.  Wonder how it would look on my old face.

Hi girls!  LauraGTO directed me to this site when we had lunch yesterday.  By the way...her self-tanner looked great and all of us at lunch stared at her chin and all agreed - what wrinkle???  She is so pretty.

You all have great tips and I will look for that white eyeliner.  My question is for Marin...I bought that express self-tanner by Jergens yesterday but as I live just outside of Chicago, why bother using it just yet!  Have you tried it?  Do you like it?  Any tips for this one in particular?  I've used just about all of them...the one I actually liked the best came from I THINK hsn.com (or qvc.com?).  They are tanning towels and don't smell, streak etc and really do work.

Good morning, Lexi and Wendy, and welcome aboard the makeup "excess express."  We will try just about anything!  Well, some of us are braver than others. Embarassed

As far as enlarged pores are concerned, you really will benefit from long-term use of a good AHA gel.  Glycolic acid is readily available over the counter.  Start with a fairly weak solution so you don't get any irritation, then go with a standard 10% unless you have very sensitive skin.  Usually, product instructions tell you to start with twice a week (at night) use, increasing to every other night, then every night.  You will know what your skin can tolerate.  This is not a quick fix and it will take a few months before you see serious results, but it's worth it.  The AHA's increase cell turnover rates and smooth the surface of the skin, within its potential.  This will all minimize the look of your pores.  I know, as I have always had large pores on my nose that used to get all plugged up with oil.  I've been using 10% glycolic for years.  I think DDF makes a good one that is readily available.  I think even Sephora has it.

For immediate pore minimization, use that PhotoFinish.  Not only does it gloss over fine lines but it fills in pores so that your foundation does not settle into them.  Works great!

BTW, I just had an email from Sephora that my order has shipped.  Cannot wait for the eyelighter.  Yes, Lexi, it is funny how that look has come around again.  I think we are aiming for it not to be too noticeable this time, just to subtly whiten and enlarge our eyes.  Oh, we are minxes of deception!

Laura, I'll bet you are in Mexico by now.  Send us warm thoughts, will you?  We had a foot of snow last night and more is coming Monday night and Tuesday.  Thank God my hair appt. is Monday morning.  Wouldn't want to have to cancel that one!  I need serious attention.

gsg, I will have to look up bo cosmetics.  Is that the company name or are bo initials for the name?

Raye, I think that the most effective thing for those upper cheekbone wrinkles is Botox.  I'm not going there, I don't think. Wink Depends upon how wrinkly I get, maybe. LOL  And, I'm getting excited about the upcoming surgery but at the same time not looking forward to it, if you know what I mean.  I guess I'm just biting the bullet and getting it over with, hoping for the best.  Actually, I guess I'm not letting myself think about it much except for the logistics.

Gee, I sure miss Beth.  Lassie, come home.

Marin try Cetaphil and sea salt you can find it a the drug store and dermatologists recommend it as a safe product that's easy on the skin.

I was reading about the mascaras and I have used a product that revlon makes and it stains the lashes and it lasts up to a week amazing stuff, you just have to be careful putting it on because it's thin and dries quickly (just did the bathroom hunt) it's revlons' colourstay but it's in a short black container and the brush is really fine.  I usually just put in from the base and gently wiggle and separate as I move up the lashes, it would be great if you had light lashes and needed something for alot of swimming or any fun water experiences.  I liked it because it lasted so long I found I only had to apply mascara twice a week. It was great for the morning rush to work. And once a upon a time I had lashes so long they would irritate me because the would hit my glasses or sunglasses.  I can't believe now I ever bitched about it.  But I'm still a Pur Minerals girl, can't live without it.  I do also love photofinish from smashbox, I have a few different face primers but find I use  them more in Summer when my pores get bigger from the heat that stuff makes your skin like silk they need to make one for the whole body.pearl49

    Morning....just another question...

Mascara - does anyone know of a brand that says it curls your lashes, and it actually does?  Don't get me wrong, I am happy my lashes are back after their 3x vanishing act but they grew in funny this time, straight and down.  Curling them and using a curling mascara helps- for about an hour.  I've tried the usual brands and thought maybe you guys might have a product you like.

    thanks!

Thanks for the tips Tina. I will try the AHA. I definitley notice redness when I try these products, but will not use it so often. I may be doing overkill!

I looked for the white liner at Wal Mart and they didn't carry it. I'll check another drug store.

I checked out one of the Sephora sites and holy smokes, I could get into some serious trouble!! Lots of fun make-up! I may order the photo finish to try under my make-up. I have noticed that it just isn't blending real well.

Tina:  That's the name of the makeup.  it's at www.bocosmetics.com.  you can read about bailey on the website, the originator of the line.  she has quite a story for such a young girl.  i'm not sure when the reduced prices will be reflected on her site...maybe she's got it changed already.  i haven't looked.

Well, girls, my Smashbox O-Gloss arrived today and I LOVE IT!  I was going to ask you all about that old recommendation that you go for a lipstick color two shades darker than your own lips and what the heck THAT meant (how do you tell two shades???) but I think with this gloss, it does the same trick.  It makes my lips darker and pinker but not so much that it looks artificial or too make-up-y.  And very soft!  It's a keeper.

Also receive the Cargo eyelighter.  Marin, when you have a chance, please tell me just how to use this stuff.  They say one end for the outside corners of eyes.  Where???  The other end for the inside corner.???  Duh.  The part about lining the lower lid I understand, thank goodness.

Tina...I don't think the Cargo liner is intended for lining the inside of the lid but, rather, to highlight the corners. This is how I used it at first....I'd just dot 2 white spots  on the inner corners of each eye near the bridge of the nose, one above and one below the actual corner, and then I'd smudge slightly so they met and were highlighting the inner corner. For the outer corner, I drew a half-line from the middle of my eye to the very outer corner, under the lower lashes, and then smudged that slightly. I actually always have a slim dash of color there and sweep it up so that my eyes look lifted. I don't use the Cargo for that very often though since I prefer a cool light (Carolina) blue or a mint green, sometimes gold or silver. Anyway, to line the inside of the lower lid, I just carefully apply the stuff to the rim, using the tip intended for the outer corners. I don't think it matters which tip you use, but my inner one's top broke and so I can't use that end any more.

On another topic, I saw an ad in Oprah mag today for St. Ives' new line of scrubs. They're called "Elements" and there are 3: "Warm" which is supposed to deep clean, "Microdermabrasion," and "Olive Scrub," for more moisturizing. I'm going to try the Microderm one!

I am glad I found this thread as I am a makeup junkie:)

Here are a couple of suggestions: take a look at Giorgio Armani cosmetics if you have Saks ro Nordstrom that carry it .

Their foundation and primer are amazing and so is their high precision retouch concealer. I have a bit of rosacea which causes redness and their foundation (designer sculpting one" is the only one that really covers well. I bought their foundation brush to apply it and this is the first time in my life , I am actually using a brush to apply foundation, it looks so good.

And their liquid eyeliner that is half cross between the liquid eyeliner and a pencil is so good too. The only problem is that they sell out of stuff pretty fast and they I have to wait as they ship from Paris.

Laura - I hope you are having a wonderful time!! You will come back a ravishing blonde tan goddess. Hope you take some pics!! There were some women at the gym the other night all nice and tan - I am so jealous.

Ha Marin- thanks - yes, I guess the wrinkles from under my eyes are just moving lower and lower. Not a huge deal. No Botox, scares me, but never say never. I think I will try the blue as you suggest. Haven't tried any blue on these eyes since junior high.

ohh tina - your new make up sounds awesome. I miss Beth too! boo. I want her to come back, but only when she is ready of course.

Lexi - I just received the Photofinish and love it, although I find it makes my face feel a bit tight, but it does hide the little wrinkles under my eyes when I use foundation, which alone seems to bring them out. Does anyone else have this feeling of tightness with the Photofinish?

Raye, I don't have that tight feeling with the PhotoFinish but I am using the regular, not the light.  I think the light version has no oil, making it less emollient.

Raye...Perhaps it is your youth, my girlfriend? Speaking for myself, I love any tight feeling on my face that I can get! Wink It's one reason why I love Burt's Bees Radiance Night Cream and use it as my daily moisturizer. But maybe I just have a flabby face.....whatever, I think I'm now convinced that the Photofinish is my kind of product!

I have to confess that I am a Clinique user. I'm using their Dramatically Different Moisturizer for the day (their normal yellow) one. At night, I use All About Eyes and Moisture Surge Extra Thirsty moisturizer. I'm a sucker for their give-aways, so when I'm done with All About Eyes, I have two samples of the Anti-Gravity Firming Eye lift cream to get through. Everytime I run out of a product, I think about switching, but end up back with Clinique.

I really like Happy, too. Smells wonderful!

I bought some filling and wrinkle tx by Olay yesterday. You know, I tried it and I think it really improved the look of the little wrinkles by my eyes. I was happily surprised. It is used after you apply moisturizer and a little goes a long way.
