Bottle 'o Tamoxifen

Did anyone go on a diet while on T? Even though the weight gain is from the T?
Jan
-
Sherry - when your doc does bloodwork next, ask him to check your thyroid levels. Without other cause, weight gain or loss is sometimes attributable to thyroid & just a question of getting the levels right.
What I don't get is WHY tamox selects the calf muscle! It's just so strange. Saw my onc yesterday and of course didn't get thru all my questions. But I did say that it made me really thirsty. He said just watch out for any rashes? Didn't say why - maybe allergies or something.
-
June....don't know....still kinda funky today.
Pretty and sunny out though. Think I may get out and about today.......and maybe with our weather forecast for the next week might help things along.
Alicia, what is with having to ask for a hug? I literally have had that talk with my husband...."you know, sometimes I just need a hug"....seems common sense to me (especially when I'm visibly upset) but nope.
jan ( and Sherry?) I have not lost or gained weight on T. So not sure there.
Janet- I have not had issues with my calves or cramps there. I have other SE but seems we all get something different.
I can't remember everything I read and I'm on the next page.....hope everyone has a beautiful, SE-free day!
-
Sherry - Hope you can figure out why you are losing weight and that you stop having vivid dreams. Be sure to address these issues with your MO.
ECG - Hope today is a better for you - get out and enjoy the sunshine.
You guys move way too fast for me - gone a couple of hours and I can't catch up - I'm at work so don't have time to read everything. Will go back later today.
-
Janet: Are you saying you are having cramps in your calves from tamox?
-
surfette - Yes - it's just one leg at night - not every night but has happened several times. Never had it before. The calf muscle just seizes up - like the kind of cramp you get in the arch of your foot and have to stand on it to make it go away. I do Nordic Track every evening but I stretch out before & after so I don't think it's from that.

I know what you mean. My hubby has been great in so many ways but doesnt "get it " either. I had some insomnia last night and whenever I do he will say well just go to bed you will go to sleep... welll if that worked then thats where I would be!.. he thinks its kinda simple.. I can will myself to sleep or something lol.... thank God for the wonderful ladies on this board!!! you all get it!!!!
Have a great day ladies!!!
sunny here today! yeah!
heard a rumor I may be able to wear flip flops tomorrow... here is too hoping!!!! lol
-
Tink, too funny, one night after my surgery I was groaning in my sleep....(um, maybe some pain?? ha) and my husband woke me up and said..."just go to sleep"....um, hello, I WAS asleep...and now I'm awake. Laid there, in pain, for the next several hours wide awake while he slept. Guess I was disturbing him. ha But my husband is the same way...."why don't you go to sleep?" ....like I wouldn't if I could? He on the other hand, is snoring within 2 seconds of hitting the pillow whether he just went to sleep or whether it is middle of night waking. Funny...yes I definitley get it!
And yes, Tink, flip flops tomorrow for us!!! Supposed to be 78 here!! Wahooooooooooooooooooooo

-
That's awesome red!!! Love that atitude.

Alicia
Glad you are starting to feel better. I have had back pain, on and off, since that episode. When I do, I try to take Motrin, and it usually helps.
Hope you are ALL better soon.

Sherry...have you had your thyroid checked out? that seems like a heck of a lot of weight to lose my dear!...It was my goal for 7 months of personal raining but does not look like it is going to be a reality.....slowly slowly at this end.
Justmealicia- just ask. ! Here is a virtual hug!!! I have a pal at work who comes in to my office and gives me at least one hug a day.....others offer them up.....personal contact is soooooo essential. My goodness
-
and with regards to men and sleep....? I think falling asleep in 2 seconds is connected to body parts...ie. one we don't have!
-
Since I have been on Tamoxifen I have out of the blue been finding bruises at different areas of my body. Bruises like purple/red and then eventually fades out to nothing. Last week it was on my thight and a couple of days ago a bruise appeared on my left arm and is still there, it is quite large.
Charmaine
-
Charmaine....I had one on my thigh last week that looked like an overripe banana...my massage therapist noticed it. I didn't even know it was there....but i was large!
-
CHARMAINE..I would call my Onc about that one. Just to be safe.
Sandee...lmao!!! you crack me up I needed that tonight about the men sleeping!! thanks ((( hugs))))
-
Okay, I did it! I had my first tablet today! so far, so good. The shingles rash is better, but the pain is still wicked. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and it can only get better, right?
Take good care and just breathe. . .
Teklya
-
TEKLYA...Good for you!!!!! Hope the pain from the shingles is resolved soon!!!
-
Sandee - That is a good one about men sleeping and - well, you know the rest.
Teklya - Been there done that many years ago with shingles - know what you are going though. Hope the pain is resolved soon.
Hi Tink
-
HI JO...Like the new profile pic???
-
Teklya, way to go jumping on the Tammie train.
Drinks will be served shortly in the cocktail lounge.
Sandeeonherown, I so agree with that statement.
Have my third P/T appointment tomorrow. Not only am I tired of all these side effects from chemo/rads/tamox. I'm getting fed up with the cost of everything. This cancer gig is expensive.
Yep, having a pity party for myself today.
Anyone want to run away to the French Rivera or maybe South America?
I'm packing my bags. Just need Jo to do the packed lunches. LOL
Jules
-
Tink - Love the new pic - it is so you.
Jules - It is okay to have a pity party. The French Riviera sounds good. I'll do the cooking for you. It is Friday, let's see what cocktails I can come up with tonight. Of course, everyone is invited.
Have A Great Friday Tammi Ladies!
-
Jules I am with you. Would love to run away from medical bills and aches and pains.
Teklya-good for you on starting Tammi I hope your shingles pain gets better. I have never had them but understand they are miserable to have.
Sandee I have copies of all my labs I am going to check to see if they have run anything on my thyroid. I think they have checked just about everything else with all the blood they get from me.
Jo I am for sure going to talk to the MO about my weight loss. Starting tomorrow I am going to take my tammi in the morning and see if it makes any difference with the hot flashes and dreams. Figure it can't hurt and if it makes no difference I can always go back to taking it at night.
Charmain I would def talk to the MO about the bruising.
-
Thanks for allowing me to have my pity party
Jo, looking forward to the weekend cocktail.
Tonight I have my girlfriends coming over for a Sound of Music Sing a Long. My son is cooking dinner for us. I know what you're thinking? I'd be thinking the same thing. LOL
What more do you need in life other than wine, good friends, food, singing and a pair of Lederhosen.
Hugs ladies xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Jules/Jo/Tink- uhuh...used to anoy me to no end when my 'ex' would lie down and be snoring ten seconds later...it also lulled me to sleep so I am missing it (and figure that is part of my lack of sleep problems..maybe I need a recording of a man snoring?????)
sherry - yes....thyroid can play havoc on weight. There have been two gals I have worked with whose weight fluctuates up and down like a rollercoaster and it is all thyroid related...nothing to mess around with for sure:)
Teklya- good for you...first step....baby steps!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!! (scary i know but has to be done hmm? and think of al th egood it is doing you...do not focus on the fears). I start my 10mg tablets this weekend..same bran etc...just won't have to split the damn things myself ( discovered a week ago that they snao in half very easily..all that work with a sharp knife and powder everywhere and two uneven sides...unnecessary!!!). Ah well...this will make my life a teensy bit easier so why not.
