Just a quick pop in - Just took mom to the ear, nose, throat doctor and she fractured the septum and is scheduled for surgery on her nose next Tuesday. She goes back to the foot doctor this afternoon to get the bandages changed on her foot, not sure if or when they will cast it. Dad is doing well, he had an eye check this morning and that is why I took her to the doctor. She called me Saturday morning to see what I had planned for the day, I was going to call and see if she needed any help but she beat me to it. I went to her house and washed her dishes and cleaned her kitchen up. I also went to the grocery and got her some frozen dinners that they like and are easy to fix. My sister went out Sunday afternoon and washed her hair.
netti, I found the My Hero 1st season at Barnes and Noble at a good price and bought it for DH's birthday this coming saturday. He doesn't have a clue that I got it. I know that they can order dvd's and I will check into Father Ted series (I think I did see some of that series also on PBS).

Oh Sheila! Your poor mom! What a tragedy of events over that fall. More suffering and pain...sigh. She is still in my prayers.

What a bad ME-MA am I- never posting picks of the boys. But they are doing well, all of them have had such colds thus far this year, but hopefully things are looking up and all are getting better, Ella even seems to be breathing better. I kept her last night and she slept quite well (as babies do) of coarse I did not sleep but a wink even when she was, constantly up and down to monitor her, so needless to say I'll be to bed early this evening, Amanda needed a nights sleep. Landen seems to love his sister although the past few days he has begun to show a bit of jealousy, but she;s a month old today so her newness for him has wore off - LOL
Shelia praying for mom and dad. Our cold snap looks like it is finally going to end mid week - oh my gosh it has been just awful down here.
Well here's a pic of Amanda, Ella and Landen. He loves to hold his little sister.
-
Love the pics of our dear sweet Ella, and all of your adorable grandbabies!!
Well, ladies....Tom is the most incredible man I have ever met!! I mean this. He treats me like a queen!!! He is old fashioned, kind, loving, romantic...and sweet as they come! We are soooooo much alike in the way we see things and do things.
My 50th B'day was Sunday...and it was the BEST B"DAY I have can ever remember having!!! Thanks to Tom and my girls!!! WOW!!! 50 is a very, very good year. Enjoy!!!
Devin found an IKEA and bought some necessities such as cheap pillows, and a companion, which he named Sebastian. Nettie, he really appreciated the suggestions and is looking forward to meeting you in the spring. He has your mobile number.

Okay, I can't see this picture cause I'm at work...but I'm picturing something that you blow up, right?

More like something you water.

Great Pic Judie, yes yes 50, I will admit I am having a slight 50 crisis now and again - OH NO FIVE O Thing, but I slap myself into reality and realize how lucky I am to be turning 50 and besides that I am one HOT-HOT-HOT 50 year old (well in June anyway) I want to have a big party, but all our party plans have been kaboshed lately not sure if I should count on that one either, Onco has some plans for me - Dam Onco - LOL
Well we have a wedding to go to this Saturday and we took the big plunge and rented a hotel the wedding is at 6PM with an open bar, its a little over an hour away, so we said what the heck, have not done anything is so very long, actually booked a suite W/Balcony on the water, looks really nice, its at the Sheraton so it should be, The Wedding is actually at The Florida Aquarium, should be really neat, have never been to a wedding at an aquarium, it is semi formal, I went looking for a new pair of shoes (like I need any of those) and because of such great sales ended up with, shoes, dress and purse, none of which I really needed.
Well off to watch Criminal Minds (Love that show)
Good night all - XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Lisa ! I'm so sorry I missed your birthday! Warms my heart to hear it was such a happy one - Tom sounds like one of the best gifts you could wish for! Love and best wishes to you for many wonderful years ahead.

Happy Belated Birthday, Lisa! I'm glad you had a great one! You soooo deserve it!!!!
Love and hugs,
Karen

Crap! My cousin received her MRI results todayl It appears that her two tiny tumors are actually one big one. Also, there may be lymph node involvement. I HATE this disease. She's the nicest person you'd ever want to meet. Please pray for her! Thanks my sweet sisters!
Hugs,
Karen
-
Karen, I'm so sorry. I'm hoping and praying for your cousin. Sending big hugs to you both.
-
Judie - I love the photo of Devin (he is such a handsome boy) and Sebastian!! Lol! I'm sure Sebastian will be a great flatmate. I hope he does his share of the housework!. Devin will need to tie that pillow around himself to keep warm - it must be sooo cold over there.
-
Karen soooooooooooooo sorry to hear the news about your cousin, saying prayers.
XOXXOXOXOXOXOXO
-
Thanks everyone. She's scheduled for surgery tomorrow. He's going to remove as much as possible. Hopefully, what's showing on the MRI is mainly inflammation from the biopsy. If it is all tumor though, she may end up having a mastectomy in the near future. Sigh.....
On a lighter note, our cabinets, millwork, and interior doors are being installed at the house today!
Hugs,
Karen

Sisters! xoxox to all of you. I finally went back and read posts from Thanksgiving till now. I feel up to date in the lives of my dear friends here.
I am at Tom's house. He is at a class, so I am here, with not much to do except watch tv and play wiith his adorable dog (beagle) Jake. So, I decided to log and and update myself!! Glad I did.
Nettie..so happy to hear you are done with rads. Also that you are seeing some growth in your hair. I had Taxoter also. It did take it's tole on my hands and nails. My nails did not fall out (however that is common), but they are much weaker now. Your hair will come in just fine! I am glad to hear you had such a great New Years also!! I have a feeling 2010, is going to be a GREAT year for all of us!! When you are ready dear Nettie....get a profile going on Plenty of fish.com, and start fishing for that special someone. It took me about 18 months.........but I FINALLY found the best guy for me!
Sheila...so you are turning 50 as well? Wow...1960 really was a great year!! How is your mom doing since her fall and surgery?
Jane....How are things going down under? Are you in springtime now? Sorry to hear about your son moving to the US, but now you HAVE to come and visit here! You have many sisters that would LOVE to meet you! Where in the US did he move too? How is his girlfriend's sister doing? So sad to hear, esp. for younger women. Damn Bootface!!!
Cathi...50 baby is the new 35!!! Embrace this upcoming b'day!! I was actually really looking forward to it!! I think turning 50 is wonderful!! I have never been happier. It's going to be a great b'day for you too! Reading back over your posts..I was so moved by your comment when you were going through all of the worrying over our precious Ella. You said..."God is at the Helm". You are so right. He is in control! You are a wondeful mother and grandmother. Your family is so blessed to have you!! I am loving all of the pictures on here!
Karen...It sounds like the house is coming right along. You have to be so excited. How is Chase and Portia? It' funny..you said earlier that you were a "born worrier". That's me too...but I have learned to let go of some of that. Read my signature..and remember..."worry is for shit"! Love you Karen!!
Judi...I read about the anniversary (can't believe a year has gone by) of your son's passing. What a great tribute to him..at the Laser Dome! That had to be so special. So Devon is traveling and studying abroad. How awesome for him!!! IKEA...is the greatest store!!! I wish I could have been shopping with him. I love that place!! It is sooooooooo cool!!!
Barbe....How is our resident comedian doing? How does it feel to be a cyber Grandma? It's great isn't it? I love it. In fact my Matthew will be 5 yrs old on Jan. 18th!! So hard to believe!!
Mel...again...Congrats on your handsome son's engagement. I think it's great they are waiting to get married. Very smart. So..how have you been?? How is work going? Were you able to see your mom or sis over the holidays? Miss you Mel.
Nancy D. Where are you going to move too? Is the house on the market yet? Sorry, Nancy...Tom does have 2 brothers but they are both married. : ( . Are you getting excited for your reconstruction? I had mine about the same time as you...2 yrs ago...Feb. 1st. Mine was delayed 4 mos. after chemo and mastectomy...and I had no problems. You will do just great!!
Elaine...when is your 50th b'day?? another celebration!!
Val....MISS YOU!!! Most of you are on FACEBOOK. I should get an account...but not sure if I could do all of the pics and things you all post. But it is a good way to keep in touch!
So...love to all of you...and to those I didn't mention...you are in my heart always!
Tom should be back soon. So I will finish up, telling my wonderful story.
You all have known my highs and lows of dating over the past year and a half. Well, I think I can honestly say (without being over confindent or in a dream world) that this will be the last man, I date...and there will be NO more LOWS!!
Tom and I started talking in early Decemeber. We finally met on Dec. 11th. From there we continued to talk and go out. We just really connected on so many levels. He is SUCH a gentleman. He asked me if he could kiss me. He and I are so much alike...it's awesome. Even in the way we do certain Christmas traditions. With him, I know there are no pretenses. He told me from the beginning he wanted to take things slow. I agreed. However we haven't taken things really slow (difficult to do)...but we both know that we want to be commited to one another. He is a little shy (well not anymore...lol) and he is more of a listener than a talker. He takes everything in...which is great. I know when he say's something to me, that he truly means it. My heart is overflowing with LOVE for this man. This isn't just a NEW feeling...it's so deep and real..I find it hard to explain. But, again, he thinks of me...is SO CONSIDERATE, LOVING, KIND....I have never experienced all of those things from one man!! He WANTS To be with me!! He makes time for me. Wow!!
So...New years eve. We spent it at my house. We watched a movie. I made a bunch of appetizers...and we drank and ate. We made out like two teenagers..and the whole night was magical. That was the best New Years Eve I have had in a long time!
( a little background on Tom) He was married for 21 yrs...very commited to his family. His wife cheated on him (she is now remarried) He has been divorced/seperated for almost 3 yrs. He lives pretty close to me. Only 30 minutes away!!
The night before my 50th bday...he picked me up and when I got in the car, there was a b'day card for me. It was a funny 50th card. We drove to the restaurant...and had a really nice dinner. Then a couple (friends of his, that I had met) met us at the rest. and we went to a club for some drinks. When we got back to his house...on the door was taped another b'day card. This one was funny too. Then we walked into the kitchen and on the island was a gift and card. I said..Tom...what did you do?? He said open it....but I was feeling a bit intoxicated...so I said..how about if I wait till the morning. So in the morning...he brought the gift and card to the bedroom. I opened it, and it was an adorable precious moments b'day girl and she was blond like me! The card was not a funny one, but sentimental and sweet. Then...he said...let me make some coffee. So I freshened up...and met him in the kitchen...only to find a "Jared" bag and card (you know the commercial..."he went to Jared") haha. Anyhow...I said...TOM..What is this????? He said...just open it. Well, the card was so beautiful, I almost cried....then the gift was a Pandora bracelet! He said...I probably went a little overboard on picking out the "charms" etc for the bracelet...but I feel you deserve every bit of it!! It's so beautiful. He picked out some that had my birthstone on them, and then the charm had mother of pearl hearts!! He is so romantic and sweet!! I can't believe I found him!
Then we went to church together. I don't know if you girls know, but I have somewhat gotten away from going to church. Being there with him, was so spiritual for me. I actually cried tears of joy while I was there. He held my hand through the entire service. It is something I have always wanted...to share that with my partner. I never had that...so this is so special...in many many ways.
Then...(still my b'day) ....my girlfriend Mary (for 50 yrs) had called Alise and talked to her about my b'day. Well...my Alise worked her but off!! She had me, Tom, Olivia, Mary and her hubby Mark and my dad..and Alise's boyfriend Tommy ( cute..both dating Tom's) over for dinner. We got there at 5pm...and the candles were lit in the house, my fav. music on...and flowers on both tables. She had appetizers at 5;30 and then dinner at 6:30!! She made all of the food!! And everything was absolutely deliciious!! Everyone just raved about how wonderful the night was. We had wine and beer..and Alise also used my homemade choc. cake recipe and made me a cake..and also some banana bread!! She really worked hard. She had Olivia clean...cause Liv is no help in the kitchen! lol The girls chipped in and got me something I have always wanted....a MOTHER"S RING! I love it!!
I know this is long....and all..but I had to catch up and fill in my special sisters here. I promise to check in more often.
And SUE..................I MISS YOU SWEETIE!!! Please those of you who talk to her on Facebook....telll her hi for me!
Love to you all...from a very Happy and Content Sister!!!
xoxo

I almost forgot to add....Tom also is a good cook, cleans...very neat, bakes and he is extremely handy at everything!! Can we say....."LISA HIT THE JACKPOT"!!!
He is everything and MORE to me!!!
-
Oh Lisa, I can hear the joy in your "voice"! I am so happy for you...you done good!
-
Lisa, my b-day isn't until October but I hope to have half the birthday party that you had! Since my b-day is in the middle of the week this year, my hubby will probably do something either the week before or after (depending on when he is home). and Like Barbe said, Lisa, I can hear the joy bubbling over out of you.
Update on my mom. she is doing fine, Dad took her for an outing on Tuesday for about an hour, after an hour she was ready to get back in her recliner and put her foot up. Some bad news, her brother-in-law passed away Sunday from complications from an aggressive cancer in his lungs (he started having problems breathing in November - same type of cancer he had in his kidney in 2006). He lived in Ohio and mom wasn't able to travel there for the funeral yesterday. She got several calls from family friends who missed seeing her and dad at the funeral home. They didn't know about her fall and subsquent surgeries.
-
Happy for you Lisa - Way to go, sounds like a keeper. And you siad you met the first time on 12/11 well thats a lucky blessed day in my book - thats the day Ella was born.
Shelia glad the folks are doing weel, lets keep it that way no more tumbles.
Pretty excited about our evening away Saturday, the wedding should be great and depending on what time we leave (starts at 6PM) there are some really great places to PARTY (LOL) and dance very near the hotel, I expect I won't be able to walk come Sunday - but what the hell, my new shoes have killer heels, hardly ever wear heels anymore, can't do it, Gosh I love shoes. Love my new dress, that I didn't need, again WHAT THE HECK, Ed will look smashing, I love the gray slacks he is going to wear, my favorite, my skinny little man has a GREAT BUTT in them - LOL
HAPPY WEEKEND ALL.
XOXOXOXOXO
-
Lisa, You sound so happy...it's infectious! I'm thrilled that this guy is a keeper.
I'm going to look for a condo in the Nyack area. Half my friends already live there, so it should make my social life a little more active. Our home won't go on the market until late Spring/Early summer as there's still some work we need to do on it, and the will has to go through probate. However, I will start my search after I recoup from the surgery.Sheila, Glad to hear your parents are mending, but that is so sad about your uncle.
Karen, I don't know if we're "hyper sensitized" to news about bc, but it seems like a lot of friends and relatives are getting personal bad news lately. I hope your cousin's case turns out to be less than they predict. On another note, I'm really envious of your new home. The video was terrific and now it's getting the finishing touches!
Jane, I missed your birthday on Facebook. Coincidentally, a longtime friend's birthday was the day before yours. Her name is also Jane (and last name begins with an H). when I saw the tiny notice I assumed it was another reminder about her birthday. It was only later, when I saw old notices congratulating you, that I realized what it was. So here's my CONGRATULATIONS.
Nettie - thinking of you recuperating from all the treatments, now. Don't get anxious now that's they're over. Start thinking of ways to be proactive about your health. Some of us don't like to exercise much (ahem, I am speaking for myself), but we find other ways to be good to ourselves. I may not go to a gym and work out, but I do walk a lot. And I watch what I eat. I read the ingredients in food packages for things I want to avoid, and cook fresh food as much as I can. I'm taking Vitamin D now in the winter
-
Lisa - Tom sounds like he was worth waiting for! He sounds wonderful! I'm so happy for you both.
Sheila - so glad to hear that your mother is doing well but sorry to hear about your uncle... very sad.
Cathi - love the sound of the killer heels and the new dress! You will look stunning - especially seeing as you will be accompanied by Ed with the cute butt in the grey slacks - what a cute couple you will be! Hope you have a wonderful time.
Nancy - thanks for the bd wishes. I spent the day in Sydney with my sons (Dh had to work...and he actually forgot it was my birthday!...Mmmm, I think he feels very bad about that!) Anyway, it was so hot that we stayed in a mall all day, sipping iced coffees, having lunch, and playing scrabble!
Youngest son may or may not be going to the US now. He and his sweet girlfriend are having a few problems. I'm sad about it and hope and pray that it will work out for the best - for both of them.
Love to all you, including - Val, Bill, Sue, Karen, Mouse, Shirlann, Judie, Nettie, EWB, Dink, Wren, Barbe, hrf, Meg, Mel. Tender and everyone.
Jane oxoxoxoxxo

Jane I also missed your B'day on FB Soooooooooooooooo A VERY HAPPY BELATED B'day wish to you. Sydney, thats on my bucket list, I have always wanted to go to Australia. I don't know why other than I LOVE the accent.
Anyway wishing everyone a great weekend, I am really pretty excited about this big night away, Jaclyn and kids are staying here to look after Margo and Roxie, we check in at 12 wedding @ 6PM, soooooooooooooooooo WHAT EVER -
-
Niiiiiice, Cathi! You have a wonderful time, girlfriend. You so deserve it!
Lisa, Tom sounds like a dream come true! I guess it's true---you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince. I'm so happy for you!
Sheila, I'm so glad your mom is healing well. I'm very sorry about your uncle though.
Jane, I hope your son and his girlfriend can work it out. I know how much you like her.
My cousin had her lumpectomy today. She sent me a text during her ride home, but didn't answer when I tried to call her. I'm sure she was resting. I'm not sure if she ended up having one large or two smaller tumors. I'm hoping the MRI was wrong. She won't get the results of her sentinal node biopsy until next Tues or Wed, but her surgeon doesn't think there's any lymph node involvement based on the way the tissue looked.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Love and hugs,
Karen

So good to see updates from so many! I'll add a brief update from my boy in London, then I'm off to dreamland...very, very tired, but a good tired. I'm getting a lot done.
