    Evilelf...your post cracked me up!!

I feel your pain. My signature used to say GO COWBOYS! (Maybe next year....)

I do not hate any team. It's a game for crying out loud. My brother "hates" the Dolphins because they beat the Cowboys in the last 5 seconds in 1972 or something. That's crazy to me. And, one time I had a Redskins fan that worked in a litte tobacco shop in the mall refuse to serve me because I had a Cowboys shirt  on. Really. I said "r u kidding?" and he said "no, get out of my store." Now that is really, really bad!

Congrats to the Giants and Pats fans!! I'm so happy for the Giants (even though they knocked my Boys out of it)!!!

It should be a good game because the Giants are pumped up and full of confidence after beating the Packers. That was not easy!!

    Have a great day everybody!

    Hi Felicia,

You know I am hoping for the same outcome as four weeks ago, but I am biased.Laughing

I don't pay so much attention to Brady as I do the rest of the team - Junior Seau deserves a ring.  He came out of retirement for this.  Teddy Bruschi is my hero.  I was actually terrified when he returned to football after his stroke, I kept thinking about Reggie Lewis from the Celtics (he collapsed during a game and a "dream team"of doctors said he could continue to play and he dropped dead of a heart attack in a pick up game at age 35) and I wanted Teddy to retire and live a good life with his family.  I am glad it has all worked out for him, but I still cringe every time he gets hit.  The heart & soul of the team is really Teddy, not so much Brady.  Again, JMHO.

For me, it is just supposed to be that way.  The Colts and the Pats are enemies.  I think, if you are from Indiana, you are not supposed to like the Pats.

Brady sure didn't play his normal game yesterday.  If he plays like that and the Giant play like they did, it will be quite a Superbowl.

The game last night was a good one, but -2 degrees F in Green Bay. That alone could give some fans in the stands heart problems!!!

Oh YEAH!! A huge time at my house! I am making a spread so we can pig out! I just watched a news report on our local station here in Oregon. At the Oregon Zoo they have a tradition of passing out the super bowl team tee shirts to the orangutans and they see which team they picked. Well, the older female picked the Patriots (but she doesn't have a perfect record of choosing) while her grandson (who does have a perfect record) picked the Giants! We'll see!!

Our family is rooting for the Giants! As Churchill said, "Never, never, never give up."

Anne's cooking sounds great! Maybe I'll do a pork bbq, with cabbage slaw but light on the mayo.

The Giant's always take you to the brink of the precipice: sometimes they stand tall and other times they fall.

Regardless, we're never giving up on them.

    GO GIANTS!

I'm rooting for the commercials--maybe they'll be better this year!

That and the snacks we feel free to pig out on!

Ok, I'll go for Eli and see if both those nice Manning boys can get rings.  I love rings, don't you?

Okay - I'm for the Pats.  I do feel a tad guilty rooting for them after seeing the story about the wounded vet that has become the inspiration for the Giants.  But, I am a New Englander, born & bred, so my loyalties have to lie with the Pats.  Besides, history could be made here if the Pats win.

We plan on pigging out on oysters and chicken wings to start.  Not sure what else, DH is in charge.  He also mentioned something about Jambalaya, but that might be too ambitious.  Yes, I am spoiled rotten.

    Go Pats!!!

Uhhh, Jambalaya, yum, yum. Now your cookin! Wings and oysters too! My, oh, my.

Two Giant games ago, my 14 year old became overwhelmed by the Giant precipice fall. He just dissolved into tears upon their close loss (not fair, not fair!) referring to a serious of unfavorable ref calls. I'd never seen him so emotional about one of their games, but he hates to see his underdog team loose.

So, tomorrow will be another Giant adventure. With all their injuries, it remains to be seen which of them are the last men standing.

Go Big Blue! Mr. Buress may be questionable, but we still have Mr. Jacobs, Mr. Manning and Mr. Toomer as well as Mr. Umenyiora, Mr. Strahan, Mr. Diehl and crew on the other side of the ball.

It should be a good game, considering the last time they met...

I love football but I can't get into this year's Super Bowl, not interested in either team.
I am more of a college fan than pro unless my beloved Bills are playing.

I can't root for Eli Manning (and thus the Giants) because of his refusal to play for the Chargers after being drafted by them, I thought that was very unprofessional on his part.

I'm fixing meatball subs and other snacks and will watch it more for the commercials this year.

Gosh, Terry. I never knew that Eli Manning refused to honor a draft. Wonder what that was all about?

Ummm, meatball subs, yum, yum. We usually do subs at superbowl, and that does sound sooo good.

That's quite a list Felicia. I just basically stare at the screen hoping I can tell which color has the ball.

Goodness:  I love both teams.  I just hope its a good game.

...I would love to see the Giants win

...I would love to see the Patriots set a record.

No dieting tomorrow.   This is fun.

I admit it - I don't watch pro ball. I found out this week that I went to school with Wes Welker's mom (older than me) and am friends with his uncle (younger).  His uncle is having a huge bash.  So I guess I'll be hoping the Patiots win.

The last time they met the score was 38 to 35.  Gives you an idea of what kind of game it was.  Truly, the best team will win.

Anne:  My DH and I were talking about that same thing.  The Giants only lost by 3 points.  They do have a chance.  Its gonna be a fun game.

    Cheers!

Anne, I'm with you...born and bred a NE fan, love the Red Sox, LOVE the Patriots!  I saw your post from a few weeks ago and yes, there were years that we didn't win anything.  It's nice to be a sportS fan in New England...but it's cyclical and our time will be done at some point and someone else in another city will feel like we are!

I'm soooo excited for the game tomorrow!  GO PATS!

    GO GIANTS!!

I'm actually taking a personal day on Monday to watch the game...it's on in Japan at 8:30 a.m.  While y'all are feasting on fun appetizers, I'll go w/ coffee and oatmeal, I guess.

Bummer--AFN isn't allowed to show commercials, so I'll have to see if I can find them online.  Sigh...

My sister and I make a pilgrimage to Albany every August to see the Giants practice at SUNY-Albany.  It's so much fun...we eat at this little cafe near campus w/ great food, do a little shopping, then watch the practice.  Two years ago we ended up walking toward the practice area next to Michael Strahan...he's absolutely massive up close!  Here's hoping he gets some good hits in tomorrow.

The only bad thing...football season is almost over.  Waaaaaaahhhhh...

    Terry,

What happened with Eli happens all the time. Most of the time, though, the deals aren't quite as public, but believe me when I tell you that there are quite a bit of the players that don't go to the teams that draft them. Many of those deals are made between teams and the players find out about it as the offer is being placed on the table. Football may be a game, but it is also a multi million dollar business...

Felicia, yes, I realize that teams make the decisions after drafting a player however, Eli Manning made that decision from a player standpoint.  He didn't want to play for San Diego and took his football and went home.  There is a huge difference and if all college players took that stance of not wanting to play for a team that is last in the standings, those teams would forever dwell in the cellar.  The draft was imposed for a reason, to round out teams on a yearly basis and give each of them a chance to strengthen their roster with fresh, promising talent.

It's as Tender pointed out, Eli refused to honor a draft.   To me it's an integrity kind of thing.

    Hey Lynn12,

Wouldn't it be incredible if the Pats won and the Celtics also won the world championship this year?  We'd have threefer.  I don't think that's ever happened before.  I can only dream..................

    Dotti,

I'm gonna jump on your wagon!

I have no connection to either team other than being od'd on the Patriots.

Being a California girl I was so hoping San Diego could have pulled it off and be there today.

Our poor Raiders and 49ers need big wake up calls.

So commercials, let's see some knee slappers!

    May the best commercial win!

A woman had 50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl.

As she sits down, a man came along and asked her if anyone is sitting in the seat next to her. "No,"  she said, "the seat is empty." "This is incredible," said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl , the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?"
Somberly, the  woman says, "Well... the seat actually belongs to me. I was supposed to come  here with my husband, but he passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we have not been together since
    we got married in 1967."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find
someone else - a friend  or relative or even a neighbor to take the
    seat?"
The woman shakes her  head, "Nah, they're all at the funeral."
     GO PATS !!!!!!!!!
