Nancy, I'm going to google Argin MaX and see what I come up with.  Most of you would probably think me crazy and maybe I am, but I'm not on an aromatase inhibitor despite being ER, PR+.  I couldn't take tamoxifen because of blood clots.  I tried Artimadex, Femara and something else I can't even remember.  All of them gave me such joint pain that I couldn't function, much less enjoy life.  I even went to a gyno. that I like and he said it's a matter of choices and prescribed an estrogen cream to prevent atrophy and thinning.  I just pray a lot.  Zestra (smells awful) and Finally both help a bit.

ArginMax is a pill.  It's a nutritional supplement which includes gingko and some Central American herbs (doesn't specifiy which).  I can't remember why, but I remember being told recently that gingko is not good for you for some reason or other.

I'd love to say those were Nancy's fingers............but .....  ummmmm let's say "I let my fingers do the walking" alot and they are no doubt mine!!  Nope Nancy........no polish on my claws!

I was actually coming here to see if you (Nancy) had your testing and how things went............INS. giving you trouble?

I go see our Onc in a couple of weeks................I'll have to look at the sign of "MOJO" he has on his wall!  To Funny that you couldn't bring up the RX cuz of pornography!!  Dang tootin I'm  not asking any questions like I asked my Gyn last year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope all you Michiganders survived the storm..............we got about 4 inches......alot better than the 8 to 12 they were talking about!

WooHoo Bonnie.........Happy Birthday!  Geez, I feel old...........am I the "grandmother" of the group???????  Please say it ain't sooooooo!

Nancy, let me know about your tests.......................can't wait until the next get together..................we were awfully "contained" at this one.....don't want to give Susie and Maureen the idea that we know how to behave!!

    Hugs to all,

    Denise

Michelle - Good to hear from you. It has been a long time! I think you are the longest survivor among us. Tell everyone how many years.

Denise - Our hands look like we have Femara fingers. I stared at that picture and cannot tell if they are mine or not. I assumed they were your's because I slapped your hand to get out of the picture! Also, it looks like a right hand and I'm taking the pic with my right hand! So, mystery solved! We both need a manicure.

Bonnie - I would have guessed 40's and I came to that conclusion because I was doing the math with your daughter's age. What's your secret?

I think I have you beat Denise - so, I can say "it ain't so!" You aren't the oldest.

About ArginMax... I'm hearing more that it is not good for us. I wasn't planning on taking it myself. I know that the Mojo board is a "hot" topic for us. I can't imagine how they would have a scientific research study on ArginMax vs a placebo. They have my imagination piqued about how they would measure the results.

My work has some kind of "net nanny" set up so I cannot even look up "breast cancer" without it saying that it is forbidden because of nudity or something else absurd. It's a rude reminder to quit screwing around and get back to work.

Yep, I think Denise and I were toned down. Poor newbies - did we scare them anyway? Denise started it with her story of making her Gyn blush last year.

Well, 3 tests down and 1 to go next week. The insurance allowed a CT scan of several areas in trade for one Pet scan. I've never had either and I'm not keen on drinking anything disgusting. The tests weren't that bad actually. For me, the torture is laying still for so long. I get this crazy voice in my head that says... itch your nose, itch your nose.....
Good thing it wasn't an MRI. DH just explained that one to me and I'd freak out for sure.

I'll get the results next week with a follow-up with "our" onc. I'm sure this is all routine because I'm hitting a milestone and I've become such a winer. They probably want to boot me out the door knowing everything is fine.

We got enough snow for us to pack it in and take a snow day off work. Bad part was I was already dressed and out the door at 5:30 a.m.

    Have a good weekend!

    Nancy

Wow..Michelle I was just asking about you-nice to see you post:-)

Nancy, please keep us updated on your testing results.  I know I am very strange because I actually like the MRI-;-I just close my eyes and picture I am on a beach somewhere!! My thoughts are with you.

Pat, hope you are feeling better.

I'm not a grandmother (yet ) Denise; but I am celebrating the big "50" this April! And you hardly look like the grandmother of the group!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

    Nancy,

I have been searching for the picture of our get together a week ago yesterday but can't find it.

Could you e-mail it to me?  ahug4u2@comcast.net

    Thanks, Barb

Barb - I sent it a few times but wonder if my email is going in your junk folder.  If you didn't get it, go to page 59 of this topic and right click on the picture.  Then you can select "save as" and copy it to your computer.

    Hi Ladies,

I'm back from CA and I brought sunshine!!!!!  The warm weather will be coming soon!!!  I miss my two little girls sooooo much that I didn't want to get out of bed today.  So I got up and went shopping!!

My one year anniv of getting the Big C Diagnosis was yesterday.  So all of the one year stuff is in gear.  Stretched out over the mo of Feb.  Mammo is a week from Monday and then onc the following week.  Got my pap Thursday.  My GYN checked my breasts Thursday but I don't have faith in her because she didn't catch the first lump.  Got my pap anyway and Rx for Boniva.  I'm trying to think positive but I must say that I'm a bit nervous.  Still having pain in the nonC breast since chemo, but the rad says it is cysts.  Let's hope it is the same now.

Ann, let's get together soon!  When is your surgery?  Glad you are going back to Troy where you trust your surgeon.  Sorry you had problems here in Kalamazoo.  I can understand their concern about the MRSA however. PM me and we can share phone numbers and e-mail addresses.  I'm going to NC next week, but then we can get together.

I'm working on the media campaign for the Race for the Cure here in May.  I just might come walk with you all as well.  We also had Pink Saturdays last October where we had free mammo's for the uninsured and underinsured.  Did 600 of them with race money.  Plan to extend to other communities and do 2000 this coming October!  The radiologists read them for free and we pay the hospitals for the mammo.  The docs here will do a follow up exam free.  It is wonderful!!!!

I hope I can meet up with some of you soon.  Thanks for posting the picture!  I come to Ann Arbor to visit my daughter, so perhaps can meet up with a few of you in March.

Love and prayers and I pray NED dances with all of us, Linda

Thanks for the cyber toast and happy dance everyone! There is plenty of NED to share!

    Linda,
Congratulations on your one year anniversary and welcome back to Michigan. We'll take that sunshine anytime. I guess that is what I did, get everything over with on the same day where I had my onc and GP appointments back-to-back. My 5 year is this month and it is good to just do the tests and only wait a week or so for the results. Kinda like ripping a bandaid off quickly. Why don't you insist they take that painful cyst out? Many of us had fybrocystic breasts before diagnosis and I now follow the mantra that the only good cyst is in a jar.

Let us know how Boniva works for you. Neesie and I tried Fosomax and both of us quit after a long period of time. I think Pat is still on it. Are you Pat?

If you meet up with Ann, give her a hug from us.

Now, what is this about working on the MEDIA CAMPAIGN for the Race for the Cure? Tell us more what that means! Please join our team, Wings of Hope! I promise I'll be good and not embarrass you! Also, I'm glad to hear where the race funds go since I was starting to think it is one big excuse to advertise products. Kats is going to be so disappointed that she can't make it this year. She was our graphic artist for the past few years and doesn't know it but is really talented. Yes, you guys heard me right, Kats, Mr. Kats and grandkitten Kats cannot make it this year! Kats was our biggest promoter, enthusiastic cheer leader and would be the team lead if it was convenient for her to travel out this way. I'm crushed.Frown

Finally, we have two new team members on Wings of Hope! Laura and her son (I assume from his age), William. I don't know if she is online and I'm sorry I don't know who she is but am really glad they joined! I'm still waiting for all you ladies to get on the bandwagon.

Let's meet up in March if Linda will be around Ann Arbor. Give us a date. Lorie should be able to join us, right Lorie? Gerri should be back from her vacation also. How is March for everyone?

    xxxooo

Nancy Nancy - what great news!!!  YIPEE!!!!!  About Fosamax, yes I still take it - have for about 7 years or so now (before bc even).

Lorrie Ann:  thanks for the good wishes about my 5 week cold - it is finally gone but now I have allergies.  Oh well, it could be worse.  How about your honey, sure hope he is feeling much much better at this point.

Ladies:  About a March get together - not sure I'll be able to make it.  My hubby and I are going to Arizona for a week (Sat to Sat) and then another weekend we are meeting up at the Dells in Wisconsin with our daughters/sons-in-law, and sweet sweet grandbabies.  Then remember one weekend is Easter - gulp, Easter in March, it doesn't seem right does it??

Anyway, if you guys get together in March I probably won't make it but if it's April, I probably will.

Hugs to all - and KEEP WARM!!!!!

Nancy, Hugs to you on your NED.

Linda, Congrats on your 1yr. I'm right behind you I go to UM next week for my 1yr follow up mamo/onco. I'm with Nancy tell us more about the Media Campaign Race for the Cure - that must be so rewarding.

Susielou, How many lanyards have you made since the luncheon? I have no secrets on aging. I'm old school no fancy products, plain and simple that's me. My family are my true beauties and they inspire me in so many ways.

March or April get together works for me. Who's ready for SPRING?!

    Hi ladies...

I will meet you all anytime anyday!

Sphynx - I plan on joining Wing of Hope but I am trying to get up the nerve to sign up for the 3 day with Maureen. We figure the walk in May will be so much fun and great training too.

WingGirl - I make a lanyard about once everyday...I need to get them to my husbands store...they don't do much good in a box. LOL

    Hugs All

susieloutoo and Maureen - I envie you guys doing the 3 day!  I'll be your cheerleader!

Hey - I found our web sites from the past two years. I haven't finished this year's but you can see how I was waffling with the dragon theme.

I'm open for suggestions on what to write. If you have a picture you'd like me to post instead of the dragon, let me know. I'd like to find a nice team picture or maybe a collage of several.

Rhonda is already kicking butt with fundraising! Is Rhonda online here? Our newest member, Laura, was a contributor to Rhonda last year.

Mystery solved on how she found our team.

Nancy:  Lovin your report .... NED for sure!  SHHHHHHHHHH.....about the Fosamax.....I'm knowing our Doctor isn't going to be to happy with me about it next week!

Ummmm.....I think Nancy is right..those must be my Femara/cracklin fingers in the picture!!  Tell ya what Nancy.....let's meet some weekend and have manicures together............!!  Maybe before the next get together!!

March will probably be fine for me.......trying to convince Husband to take me somewhere warm and he's trying to convince me that we can't afford it.....what a spoil sport he is!

Tooooo Funny..........the new girls are probably dying to know what I said to my Gyn to make him blush...................and tell me I didn't have to come back for a year!!  To be continued at the next luncheon, ladies!!

    Glad all are doing well..

Rhonda is my very great friend...and Laura is her sister.  Rhonda and her husband Brian, and her dad Ron walked with us last year.  Fortunately, none are cancer surviviors but all have been direclty effected with the loss of family members from cancer.  Solves the mystery...huh?

I would like to get together too...but March is looking a bit iffy.  I do have 3-8 and 3-22 weekends open.  Would April be better...we miss seeing you Pat!

I'm over here in South Haven on business the next few days...lots of snow.  I am very sad today as another sister has just received a reoccurence.

Darnit Chris - I'm sorry to hear of your friend with a reoccurence.

I think it is great how your friends and family are so supportive.  I remember Rhonda from last year because we talked a few times through email and she is actively fundraising.

Keep warm in South Haven.  At least you can crank up the heat in a hotel room and don't have to clean house... have the remote to yourself.

My dear friend, skinny Carol will join us again this year.  She is rounding up some of her friends also.   I'm still bummed that Kats can't make it though and she has been AWOL lately!

Well Denise, I've never had a professional manicure so let's do it!  Where do you go?

I so hate hearing of reoccurence's............Chris, send your friend warm thoughts from me.

Hey Nancy.......you're on for the manicure!  I don't have them often either....as you can tell from the picture!!  Usually just for weddings (like mine or my kids!)  I have gone to CJ Roberts Salon a couple of times.....Okay, I go there to get my eyebrows waxed cuz I can't see to do them! We'll find someplace between your place and mine...............

Hey.....a wild thought here.....We could have a 'pampering' party for one of our get togethers.......how fun would that be?

Hope you are all staying warm!

    Hugs,

    Denise

howdy northern friends.... i've just returned to frigid OH from southern FL and splashing beachside for the week. talk about a wake up call!

i'm just getting caught up with an avalanche of email and see i have 2 different invitations for work the weekend of the detroit Komen. i'm quite certain i can't get myself to 3 seperate events taking place simultaneously.

so i'll have to r.s.v.p. with a 'very sorry' for this year's.

you're all invited to our columbus event in mid-may, if you can't walk detroit. susie: sooooooooo awesome that you're gonna conquer the 3 day

wing-girl: you do indeed look great in those pics posted of your recent get together

sphynx: whooooooooooo hoooooooooooo NED dancing for youuuuuuuuuuu!

neesie: so much fun to encounter you often on the beach thread, i so enjoy being beach bunnies together

and last but not least, my daughter, SIL and their wonder boy retrieved me from the airport. she is now 29 weeks along with the TWINS. i celebrate every day that she's still able to carry them. keep praying friends -- it's working!! she's just begun to have a couple of contractions outta the blue, but i guess that's pretty typical and she combats them by going straight to bed and laying down: making me more crazy than her: LOL

    Hi Michigan sisters,

We're here in sunny California, although it's not so sunny today, darn it, and I was checking in on you gals.  We'll be returning to frigid MI next week and I'm not looking forward to that at all.

A pampering get together sounds wonderful!!!  March or April would probably work for me.

Chris, sorry to hear your friend had a reoccurence.  Keep us updated.

Nancy, whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I haven't seen my onc yet for my one year, but I had my smash and flash on Monday and it showed that I was indeed dancing with NED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  No changes since last mamm.

Hey, I'd like to just go to Columbus to get warm!  Bet you had a great time in Fla.  Keep us updated on the twins!  How fun!

Geri, where are you in CA.  I was there in San Diego for 5 weeks and I'm missing my little girls so much.

I can come to Ann Arbor March or April for a get together.  Just please let me know ahead so I don't schedule anything.  In March I can come during the week, I would need to wait until the weekend in April.

Love and prayers to all!  Linda

Hello everyone - thanks for the good wishes. There is plenty of NED to share. Yah Linda - glad to hear the "smash and flash" (going to borrow that one!) went perfect!

A pampering party sounds like it would be a blast. March or April is good for me also.

We will miss you this year at the walk, faithandfifty! You will have to make the trek to one of our get-togethers. Hopefully before the twins arrive or we may never see you again! (hint hint - Pat) Get your camera ready because we need pictures!

Gerri - Hope you are having a wonderful vacation out in California.

Now, I'm hearing that several of our friends are going through the mill right now and need our prayers and good karma. AlaskaDeb, Tonya and others! We are crossing everything for you guys.

Denise - your appointment was yesterday, right? How did it go with "our" onc?

I met Susieloutoo this week and she made some beautiful necklaces. I cannot get a decent picture of them. Still envious of her energy for the 3-day.

    Stay warm! xxxooo

    Happy Saturday!

Linda, I chuckled along with Nancy about the smash n' flash thing somehow I think that would make a great t-shirt!

Geri I am indeed jealous-where are you in Ca? I grew up in the bay area, in Los Altos.  I miss California alot...:-( My older sister lives in Bakersfield, in fact I am going out there in April.  I cannot wait to leave this cold weather for awhile.

Denise hope all of your tests went AOK.

March/April/May is good for me, except one the week I will be in CA.

The pampering party is a good idea; my friend had one years ago. They gave half-back massages, pedicures & manicures.  She had a HUGE house; so everyone was very comfortable. How I wold love a massage!

Ok...back to work. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
